🥰 I haven't raided the garden completely yet. The vine leaves are red and orange and yellow since today. It's so beautiful. 💜
Tina this is a great idea. I think I may also create samples of various art applications. Question. Should we be using distilled water when we add water to other products and use drinking water for cleaning brushes and surfaces?
This is a valid question. Thank you! 😊 First: I'm not a scientist. All my thoughts are based on what I've learned at school or life has taught me the hard way. 😉 I'm using destilled / pure water to add to products when not using up immediately, because destilled water only contains H²O and therefore can't go bad on it's own. But I always make sure the product itself can be diluted with water by design. For immediate use I sometimes use tap water, but only if I already know the ingredients won't react with the ions in the water. Requires a bit of testing. 😉 Using tap water also depends on where you live. In Germany all tap water is drinking water. The minerals contained in the water vary from community to community. I've lived in a region where the water contained lots of calcium, so I couldn't clean my brushes with natural brush soap. It was impossible to get all the soap residue off without rinsing the brushes with lemon or vinegar. Bad idea. 😅 So yes, this is a very complex topic. Again thanks for the question. You made my day! 🥰
You are so right about modge podge easily becoming sticky. You must use the sealant spray which is expensive. So,in the end, buy the liquetex, you will come out ahead. One more comment. I find if the modgepodge page is under glass (without sealant) the modgepodge can whiten and flake.
Whiten and flake? That's disgusting. I'll stick with the matte gel: multi-talented and safe. And in the end it's even cheaper.
alleen je naam is al mooi Frieda Friemel...misschien gewoon in je eigen taal...het is te vertalen
😉 I've been told quite a while ago about the slang usage of the word in the Netherlands. I don't care. 😊 It's funny though how fast slang evolves into everyday language.
@@FriedaFriemel 🤔the slang? nooit van gehoord...
Sorry, my bad. Of course the present meaning of the word in Dutch is no longer colloquial. Originally "friemel(e)n" discribed focused handiwork on a very delicate piece in both languages. So teenagers use it to... You know where this is headed. 🤣

Hi Tina, I'm excited to receive the Autumn Journal. So far tracking indicates it is in transit from Germany to the U.S. I like this accordion folded packaging idea, I can see how it can be adapted with other papers, I have an idea. Will enjoy seeing how you finish it. Cheers!
Hello Kim. I'm looking forward to see your idea taking shape.
Such a lovely journal! I really enjoyed watching. Thanks for sharing.
@@kellyg1228 Thank you for watching and subscribing. 💜😊
I haven't made book cloth yet so watched this whole video to see your result and it was interesting and informative. I made one journal where I glued heavy upholstery fabric directly to the cardboard substrate cover with good result but I used a different glue than these; I used an acetone-based fabric glue. As you advise I will do some test samples with the lighter fabric because I want to try the PVA with a paper backing in particular. I've never heard of the MC paste before, will consider it. Thank you for the demonstration.
Thank you, Kim. This comment is extremely helpful, because only now I see I forgot to mention some little facts that are obvious to me by now. Blinkered attitude... 😅 Using the Fabri-Tac glue e.g. with uphlostering fabric, which mostly is tightly woven, should be fine. And you wouldn't want your fabric to be even more stubborn backing it with paper. 😄 With lighter fabric I've seen some really unpleasant results even when using fabric glue. This might have been prevented by turning the fabric into book cloth. MC is mostly used to repair bookpages or to dilute PVA without making it too watery. Using MC for this video was a test and it worked just fine. Originally starch paste or a mix of both pastes is used to make bookcloth, because it isn't as susceptible to moisture. I'd say it extremely depends on the quality of the fabric which method to choose. There's a recipe for starch paste in my previous video about the different types of glue and paste.
@@FriedaFriemel Oh great. I haven't watched the glues videos yet and will be sure to. Thank you for all the great tips!
Love that PLEATHER😂😂😂😂
I'm still not sure what it's actual use is, but it was still packed. So I'm safe. 🤣

what a wonderful autumn junk journal….thanks for this great video….take care
I'm glad you like it. 💜 Have a wonderful autumn day.
Happy birthday Tina. It is fun to hear that you and your husband like to go to thrift shops because that is what my husband and I like to do too. It would be so much fun to go to thrift shops in another country but, I must say, we have done VERY well right here. We also like to go to "yard sales". Either way you just never know what you will find. I love also that unusual ribbon folio with the language lessons. I am thinking to make something like that as a loose folio holder for a journal set. Your imagination must be running wild with all those treasures. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, Kim. 💜 Yard sales... 😍 Hubby and I are a bit sad this isn't a thing in Germany. And I've actually told my soul sister the night I recorded and shared this video I couldn't find any sleep. Too many ideas! I got my idea book and wrote down 37 new ones, but still wanted to start making some prototypes; at 3 AM when I got up at 6:30 the morning before. 😅
I found your channel today and I also love vintage items. I live in The Netherlands. Last week I was on vacation in Germany and I saw some books in a thrift store. I was kind of shocked about the prices for books. I thougt they were very expensive because the shop is in a tourist area in the Harz. But this seems to be the way things are.
Thanks for watching, dear. 💜 Yes, sad but true. The prices for vintage items in Germany as well as in England or Austria are very high. Occasionally you'll find a reasonable deal at the charity shops in Germany, but most vintage items (books, furniture, dishes, you name it from the 60's and older) they sell to the antique dealers or on eBay.
@@FriedaFriemel flea markets do better prices is my experience in Germany.
Wonderful treasured finds! Glad you had fun on vacation 😊 thanks for sharing!
💜 I am really lucky. Thanks for watching.
Loving this - heading next to watch #4. Thank you for sharing.
💜 I'm glad you like it.
I watched your final flip through video before this one and love the journal. I went to look at the kit you used and didn't purchase it because it looked to dark and gray and wondered how it didn't seem that way in your journal. I didn't realize you could change the tone in a printable. Is it hard to do?
@@crazylovingit Yes, it is very dark indeed. I really can't tell if changing the colors is hard to do or not. I'm using GIMP for this and just play around with the color options. If you're using Windows 10 or 11 the Photo Viewer has some editor tools, too. Just play with the color and saturation.
@@FriedaFriemel Okay, thank you for the help - I appreciate it.
