I love this and it shows veronica as more mature. Veronica in 2019 season 4 was awful, immature and her being back in neptune as a pi was disappointing. She deserved so much more

It got cancelled, fans funded a movie, was GOAT, got a revival and finally a proper season 4 which is really good

I really wish that it had gone this direction instead of what we got (season 4). Everytime I saw Leo as an FBI agent I was like...Veronica should have been doing that.
Don't forget Tina Majorino as one in Bones even though she's only in three episodes.

Just finished re-watching the original 3 seasons in prep for finally watching the new 4th season for the first time *no spoilers please!* I heard about this, and frankly I think it's kind of bland. I'd not go forward with this version of the show either. Kristen Bell is great in it of course, but I couldn't care less about the new cast.
Exactly I just got my significant other to watch the first 3 seasons. On to the movie then the 4th season. Movie comes before the 4th season.
it's funny because the network didn't like/understand the direction that veronica mars was originally going in, so rob thomas threw caution to the wind and filmed this proto-pilot of where v's future was supposed to have headed, but CW ended up not liking this either and that's why it was cancelled. so you can blame CW for this decision! rob thomas only did what they wanted, another boring procedural cop drama.
I mostly am enjoying this but yeah it's weird that it's just another cop show kinda like Criminal Minds which already existed at the time... I wish we got Veronica in the FBI a little maybe but mostly i wish we still had some of the key cast from s3 and not just Veronica; and still had the less traditional detective vibes than a cop show...

Nope It got canceled then they did a crowdfunded movie. Then Hulu did a 4th season that’s way better then VMars FBI idea.

@Randy White most of us thought Veronica was really out of character and a lot was not very enjoyable about it. The ending we pretend never happened etc (let's avoid specific spoilers). But to each their own. Some people did enjoy it I guess. The 2 canon novels were truly spectacular in my opinion and follow the movie. I listened to them as audibooks from my local library and Kristen Bell narrates the first one.

Yes that was the idea. It came from the executives not getting what VMars was and wanting it to be more in a box.
