Welcome to our channel and Thank you for watching, liking/Subscbing and commenting on our videos, I hope you enjoy them. Our names are Cath and Karl and this vlog is about the journey of owning, cruising and maintaining Narrowboat Emerald.

It is the journey that we are not looking to but it goes wrong for reasons we didn't expect.
A beautiful journey, it is a pity about graffiti but looking beyond that it surprised us how nice it was.

Hello and welcome. In this Vlog we explore Napton on our Electric bikes. They are great fun and because I have a dodgy foot and knee, I struggle to walk a long way... so a bonus, as it isn't painful to ride e bikes as you don't need to weight bare as much as a normal bike. We decided to stay at Napton for a couple of days as Karl wanted to visit the folly Pub. So we have a lovely relaxing time ...

How did you connect the ignition to the 12v may I ask please?
The wiring was already there from a previous appliance through a 24 to 12 volt dropper, as Emerald is 24v.
@@narrowboatemerald3558 so the wiring from the hob has two brown cables. Are these both live? What did you connect them too? Sorry for the questions - am struggling to get mine wired in! Thanks for your help.
I can't remember. I will look at the weekend and let you know. Was there a wiring diagram with it?
@@narrowboatemerald3558 no wiring diagram - a helpful note to connect it to the 12v system but nothing more concise and I can’t find anything definitive online so just trying a few people here who have them in the hope someone can help! Appreciate you looking. Thanks

Just watched, not sure if you found out what your 3rd filter was but to me it looks like a pre fuel filter, it’s to help stop any water getting into your engine! Happy travels.

You don't have to talk for 100% of the video, 80% is enough. Then a little more steady camera work and we're getting closer to better vlog quality. Then there will be a subscription again.😊

Hi, thanks for the vlog, well done Karl for remembering the exact morning spot in the pic. I like seeing the moored boats especially any thing traditional, plus the little bit of the baby woodpecker at the end.
Thank you. It brought back memories of our young children and little cruiser that we had so much fun with. I had never seen a woodpecker before.
I liked the visit to the Triumph factory that’s a good idea for a future destination for us.
Definitely can recommend it. It would have been good to book the factory tour. They do get booked up though

I remember biking in the Dales in the 70's, before Hawes became a tourist trap. On a busy Saturday there might be 6 or 7 bikes parked in the main street at the most, not the dozens you see now. And the Ure is pronounced "Yor", as in Yorkshire. York was Jorvik - "the town on the Yor".
It was busy. The Yorkshire Dale's version of Matlock bath in Derbyshire. If you have been there
@@narrowboatemerald3558 Yes, I have, so I know what you mean though it's some years since I've been there. The Dales are much more accessible for us and that's where we tend to go these days.
Hello, Loved the video, it’s interesting to see people’s reaction to the tunnel on their 1st passage. It does get quite low. 31 minutes is my personal record but that time we were the only boat going South. Sorry for being pedantic but the junction at Hardings Wood (Kidsgrove) is with the Hall Green branch of the T&M. The Macclesfield joins that branch at Hall Green stop lock, 1.5 miles to the north. The T&M were paranoid, to say the least of other waterways joining their canal so built branches out to meet the newcomers and therefore able to charge ridiculously high tolls on them. The worst example of which is further down the canal at Middlewich where the 100yd Wardle Lock branch connects with the Shropshire Union’s Middlewich branch. Happy and safe cruising, Paul

It's not the end of the journey but the beginning of the next one! We are currently out on the boat around Stone. Keep forgetting to film anything but are enjoying the cruising. Take care and we look forward to seeing your next big adventure. ❤

Thanks for a look around the Triumph Factory. Stella's Dad would have loved spending a few hours there. Weather looks better than now!
I wish I had realised the problem with the new selfie stick. Karl has been wanting to visit for ages. It was quite interesting. Stella's dad would have enjoyed it. The weather is awful now isn't it. Hope it clears soon. Mind they are saying we might get the heatwave from Europe in August 🙄 😅

Hiya. I've heard the canal is closed from Derwent mouth lock through Shardlow. The lock gates at Stenson don't leak now, causing shortages further down... typical!! The North Oxford canal is ok... at the moment! Hopefully it rains... but not too much 😅 we will be coming back up the river in August. I hope you are both well 😊 x

Hi there. Enjoyed your vlog. Never seen a woodpecker so close, so beautiful. I note Emeralds crotch cover is the aluminium type and that all three sides seem to roll up like tent doors. Would you recommend this type of crutch cover over the more trad heavy wooden types. And if you would recommend your type please would you let me know the make / suppler..many thanks Gary
Hi Thank you for taking time to comment. We like the aluminium framed cratch. We take it off quite often ( when there is a dry spell.) It folds and can be stored behind the sofa. I personally like to look at the water from the bow, not through a glass cratch, so is perfect for us... plus you can access the gas locker without climbing onto the front. 😊

I can find out. It was already fitted to the boat when we brought her. We do have the receipt though. Will look next weekend. A lot of companies that make boat canopies do them. I quite like the Antrim ones too 😊

Thank you. I enjoy driving the boat. I think it would be good to encourage more ladies to operate the tiller. I think you would like it too 😊 I'm very pleased with the bathroom. It is much lighter and feels clean and fresh x
Great to see a lot of our regular cruise from a different perspective. It normally takes us about a week! Can't resisit a visit to the pub 😄
We always enjoy vlogs in areas we have cruised too. It is nice to go steady as well. We have a destination this time, so a few full days cruising for this trip 😀

It is quite incredible isn't it. I woke this morning at 2am to voices of working boat men outside our boat from years gone by... or was it a dream? It felt very real and as I woke fully, there was silence.

I currently have a 2009 HD Dyna Super glide, which i love ❤️ Yes I’m in Oz, look forward to watching your vlogs, id love to have a narrowboat..ultimate dream🤗

I really like Shobnall Marina. I stayed there a few months over the covid period steve did a few jobs on my boat and matt did my blackening. I would love to go back there to stay.
We hardly stopped working all weekend. They were friendly and helpful. Was very handy for shops too.
