Yazda is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization in the United States, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and as a local NGO in the Kurdistan region in northern Iraq.
Yazda is a global community-led institution that protects and champions all religious and ethnic minority communities, including Assyrians, Chaldeans, Kakais, Shabaks, Yazidis, and others in Iraq, Kurdistan Region, and Syria.
Founded in 2014 at the onset of the genocide perpetrated by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), also known as Islamic State in Iraq and Levant (ISIL) or Da'esh against the Yazidis, as well as war crimes and crimes against humanity against other minorities, Yazda leads advocacy and strategic projects in Dohuk, Sinjar, and the Nineveh Plains (Iraq), as well as global diaspora hubs.

Spreading awareness through his organization about the Yazidi people, Farhad Shamo Roto said:
“Ten years after the genocide, Yazidis have had very limited access to resettlement solidarity. We have hundreds of survivors in France who have no access to family unification. Mothers are separated from their children, and brothers cannot meet each other. […] This is a clear message from Yazidi survivors: they are seeking stability, and there has been no solution.”
