Automate Your Material Management System with AI
About the webinar:
The two wings of the bird of Mixed Model Manufacturing are Line Design and Material Flow. We usually say that both of these wings are of equal importance, but in today's post-Covid world manufacturing companies seem to be struggling more with materials. They know how to build their products, but the more frequent problems relate to getting the parts into the hands of the workers. Global supply chains are a part of the challenge, but organizations also struggle with the complexity of building multiple models and options. Even if the parts are available, delivering them to the Points of Use at the right time, in the right quantity, in the right sequence, in the right conta...

Using AI for Mixed Model Material Flow
Просмотров 912 месяца назад
About the webinar: One of the biggest challenges in creating a high-performance Mixed Model production environment is the design of the Material Flow system. The more product variety that needs to be built, and the frequency of switching from one model to another, makes the smooth delivery of materials to the various Points of Use a tough job. It is possible, however, and we have documented the...

About the webinar: Every day seems to bring some new announcement about the ever-expanding capabilities of AI. It's a time of great excitement, and also of great concern. "Will AI take my job?" for example. Or more likely "Will someone good at using AI take my job?". This latter scenario is more likely, at least in the near-term. The time seems to be right to offer an update on AI devel...
How to Bullet-Proof Your Kanban System
Просмотров 634 месяца назад
About the webinar: There are many opportunities for "leaks" in a Kanban system. Paper cards can get lost or not turned in. Usage can shift for individual items, requiring adjustments to the Kanban quantities and number of bins. Delivery cycles may also be erratic, and put at rise on-time delivery to the Points of Use. All of the these issues become even more impactful if you are attempting to m...

About The Webinar Most improvement projects other than very small ones require some estimate of the potential benefit or Return On Investment. And to be clear, if the only thing needed is your time, that still can add up to a serious investment. Even if it's a "back of the napkin" estimate, a quantification of the potential of your Lean project is needed. Side note: after all, if you can't come...

How can I download the simulator
Hello Elios, The Lean Design Simulator is included in our Lean platform, the Lean Design Studio. It's not available as a download. The Studio is a membership site focused on Mixed Model Manufacturing topics, including certificate courses and implementation roadmaps. You can find out more by going to leandesignstudio.com, which will take you to the information page. Thanks, Richard Rahn
How can I download the excel
Great insight Richard, appreciate the sharing. 2 other useful sustaining tools i am familiar with would be the Leaders Gemba Walk and Tier Boards.....cheers.
good
Promo sm ❣️
Excellent to see Richard making the connection between Lean and machine learning, process modelling, procsss mining and Industry 4.0 … its the future … which is now !
Great content!
It would be good if you can just get into the subject at hand. All this damn preliminary chit chat is a turn off and a waste of time!
Thanks for your honesty, sir. Everyone in business looks out for themselves. Even simple things, we make it complicated to create confusion and noise to keep the competition away. But there's someone out there who always find a way to get through. :)
Yes the Multi-Bin system would be very interesting to know about, especially if it can be applied without a computer/barcode system. Two bin's simplicity means that it works excellently, even when the barcode/computer system is out of order due to maintenance or updates. I wonder if Multi-Bin can be applied effectively without a computer system.
Very interesting methodology, I would like to know more about how the Multi-Bin Kanban method works in terms of cards and flow.
Adorei.
There are 8 forms of waste. not 7. get your shit straight
So any useful information about actual Lean Manufacturing, NOT flow manufacturing, only comes up at 4:50. Toyota made modern Lean Manufacturing a thing
thank you for the webinar! very useful!
As always the brilliant info are hidden in the depths of Internet )) the good part there are always brilliants you can find. Thank you for sharing :)
Hi Leonardo! Nice video! Congratulations! Where can I find articles or academic basis about PFEP on internet?
Great idea!
I clicked on this video completely by accident and ended up fascinated by something so ubiquitous in today's society one doesn't really think about how it came to be. Thank you!
I have read your book ‘Complete Guide to Mixed Model Line Design’ and have a lot of respect for you and your company. You speak the truth.
Material system audit link you have provided is broken after the initial sign up.
Excellent crisp explanation of why pfep and do’s and dont’s! Very usefull
I highly requested you make tutorial video for material inventory and hotel booking software
Hi guys. You're 100% right. Very useful video for simulation adepts. I use Witness simulation from some time and can say that the simulation is a very powerful tooll for advanced process design/improvement only if used properly. Definitely this is a tool for every one looking for smarter Lean implementation. Sure you need some computer skills but in today's world without them you're probably very unefficient in process analysis... Additionally, instead of classical Lean Quantity/Time based KPI you are able to lead advanced direct cost KPI analysis which in my opinion gives more interesting business answer. It means that with simulation I know in advance than after implementation of given solution we'd save 100kUSD/year instead of knowing we'd save 10 minutes from actual Lead Time :). When you try to get money to pay that project try to imagine which of these two KPIs arguments speaks better to project sponsor ?
Great video & very TRUE, going to use this.
thank you for video.....it helps
Hi Lean Six Sigma! I don't know what MTC is...that's probably a typo if it shows up. Regarding balancing cycle time to takt time, I have a question for you. If you have takt time of one minute (as an example) and you are mixing products with cycle times of 4 minutes, 5 minutes and 6 minutes, how many workstations would you need? Assuming that the demand for each is the same, would you have 5 (based on the average time) or 6 (based on the longest time)? If you choose either 5 or 6 stations, how much time would you allocate to each station? If you pick 6 you can meet the 1 minute takt time for the third product, but you are over-resourcing the line by designing for a scenario that will never happen. If you pick 5 you resource correctly, but the 3rd product time will exceed the 1 minute takt. I know what we would do, but what are your thoughts?
Well done Richard, I am happy to see you and your company producing articles and videos showing the importance of Flow and how to achieve it. Does Toyota call it 'MTC' ? I use the term 'Lead Time' rather than MCT 'Manufacturing Cycle time'..to avoid confusing with 'Cycle Time' meaning the actual time for each operation or the time between each new product leaving the end of the line. Cycle time should be equal to Takt time ( Takt time being the time that you are trying to achieve to keep up with demand ...such as 1 minute per operation and therefore 1 car produced per minute ) . Is this how you also refer to it when you do classes at Toyota ?
very good Explanation! 123-lean-success-and-more.de/
what are the methodologies to lead lean manufacturing practice in high mix and low volume model?
Hi Richard! I really enjoyed this webinar, great value and very well explained the concepts and examples. By the way, pls share the name of the App you used for the web transmission. Best regards, luiz
Hey Luis! We use a webinar service called WebinarJam. It's been great, and the latest version allows me to share a screen and still be seen in a presenter window. Pretty affordable, but not free.

I have a question: How does the plan for every part help if we already have up-to-date ERP system in the company? How will it assist in driving continuous improvement projects?
Please let me know if you have found a response to your question!
Thank you for the informations :)
Great video, but that is one Amazing sharpie!
good points you have :)
