    Good video, I went through EMT training in 1973 and NREMT-P in 1979 and worked in the Fire and EMS field. until 1997. We used these fairly often in the 70's and 80's along with the Sager traction splint. The biggest reason that you don't use these very much any more is the use of air bags and energy absorption design in automobiles. around 1995 or so, we started seeing people who were walking away from impacts that would have killed them a few years before. A head on colison beween a 80's modle 4 door sedan and our water and sewer director, who was driving a a 1997 Ford sedan with a closing rate of over 120 mph ended up with a dead drunk in the 80's sedan and a very grateful Director who walked away

    Very helpful video for the upcoming practical! I do have a question. I'm following along with my Patient Assessment Sheet. After the head to toe, do we pick up at Environmental? Then OPQRST, AMPLE, Vitals, Diagnostics, and Reassessment? I assume yes, but just want to be 100% positive. Thank you so much!

    This is an excellent instructional video. The only thing that is missing is no mentioning of the part called Washer that is such an important part positioned right above the "two teeth." So this video would work as a good reminder to people who are already trained on O2 tanks but not for the beginners.

    • @ChicagoEMTTraining
      @ChicagoEMTTraining 2 месяца назад

      On the contrary. Leaks that are caused by a missing O ring should not be the norm and would most likely be found after hundreds of O2 tank checks. If someone is coming across that many O ring issues, then we have a separate issue.

    My last formal, comprehensive first aid training was Red Cross Multimedia training in the eighties. I'm guessing that was before you were born. I was on the fire crew at work for ten years, but I never had formal, comprehensive first aid training. I think they showed us how to set up an oxygen bottle once and how to use an AED once, and I had both of those trainings in 2000 or 2001. Do you think there's any value in my buying one of these and having it available based only on the training that I've gotten from a few RUclips videos? I'm inclined to think that I shouldn't try to buy this stuff until I can get some formal, hands-on training somewhere. I suspect that such training is going to be hard to find. I'm disabled, so I can't sit through an all-day class on a Saturday. The idea seems pretty simple, but I'm still hesitant to carry anything that I'm not really trained to use.
