PLEASE DO NOT MOVE TO NYC if you haven’t already…. This is NOT the City to move to right now… The rent is SUPER high for no reason. There’s hella crime on the subways. Cost of living in general is HORRIBLE. Just don’t. PLEASE don’t. You’re paying so much rent and the APTS are hella small. There’s rats and homeless EVERYWHERE because housing services for homeless stopped during the pandemic and now people are on the streets causing havoc.…… so much so that stores are no closing down everywhere. Even if you find a “decent” neighborhood, gentrification is going to be a b*tch…. I was born and raised here and I am TELLING you what i know. I am DYING to leave NYC. All my friends who have moved OUT of NYC have Much HAPPIER lives. And it’s not like my friends all know each other. No. These are different people with different lives who are strangers to each other and they ALL said the same thing about leaving NYC. I am begging you. Find another city and SAVE YOURSELF!!!

I definitely understand the allure of the city for a non NY native. I'm not saying you made a bad decision but the majority of people hang out in BK or Queens. The commute is something to consider and ultimately, you choose which version of NY you'd want to live in.

be prepared if you still have your car for congestion pricing...depending on where you live...parking and getting around is about to get very interesting starting in July Fyi- for alternate side parking dont wait too late to move it back...most people move it and get a good spot and sit and wait til time is over also fyi the bare essentials prices will always be expensive here in nyc be prepared...good luck

As you will quickly notice, NYC is an entirely different planet compared to the rest of the USA. If you can just keep that in mind, you'll manage expectations and you'll do okay. Very exciting journey and I wish you both all great things to come.

Welcome to NYC. When I was in Atlanta I struggled. This was primarily due to transportation and everything being spaced out. I'm from NYC born and raised. It's challenging but you must stick to your guns. Planning is very important especially when moving here and making sure all the ducks in a row. This city is extremely expensive, the people are not the nicest, but the jobs are good and the opportunities are endless. If you make it here, you can make it anywhere... Good Luck 🤞

Your seeing dirt from the work men, they don't usually clean up spot clean after they finish working. I guess that how they work in Newyork. Also Newyork is a very thirsty state when it comes to giving tickets, they don't have no mercy, and double parking ticket is $115, and they will still ticket u even 1 minutes before street cleaning end.

It depends on what part of the city, there is access points for the disabled, u just have to learn them...the disabled people knows how to access this points

Hey dear. I found your page because I’m considering getting sister locs and did a search . I’ve been living in NYC since November 2017. I moved from Houston to NYC. One thing I’d like to tell you about living here is you have to protect your peace and be intentional about maintaining your peace. Don’t feel like you have to move at NY pace when you get here. Move at your own pace. Lastly, find a park you like because you’ll forget how much you need nature when you’re living around concrete and buildings. Congrats on your move!
