    It's no 4Runner but these 1st gen Xterra's are an amazing value and awesome platform to build on. Sadly they have 1/1000th the aftermarket support that Toyotas and Jeeps do.

    15:45 there is an actual 2 prong tool for that, you should buy it. The FSM procedure to preload bearings on reinstallation requires such, and you should follow that procedure

  • @rfcdgaf

    Easier to remove the lowerball joint with the LCA still on the car. As for the actual removal of the BJ, you should un stake x4 on the nut before you blast it off, even with a impact ... You might as well replace them while you are there, you don't want to have to do this job again just for the BJ.

      Yeah I actually welded it to two pieces of angle iron and the bolted them to my frame. There’s a guy who mounted it better on the xterra forum on Facebook. If you search 76721 you should find it!

    Nice rig man, I’ve got a 2000 X 5spd 4wd as well. This was my first experience with a Nissan and I’m surprised how solidly built and reliable these rides are. These are pretty inexpensive too, definitely a bargain when compared to Toyotas of the same era.

    I just put these same headlight assemblies in my sol, i love the look of the black while still keeping some chrome for lighting. Ive added LED bulbs and they also look great, kind of a pain to adjust(beams) being these housings only go up and down not left to right like the factory. Looks good, dont know about those license plate lights thought im sure they arent legal. Get you some basic white LED tag lights and save yourself the hassle of getting stopped and ticketed. Fyi the rear bumper has supports that are fairly easy to gently bend back up to fill that rear gap between the taillights.

    Do you know why the bearing failed so fast? Was it oil starved?

    • @mountainsols8450
      @mountainsols8450 5 лет назад

      The bearing spun cause there wasn't enough room cleared for the h beam rod on one side of the cylinder.

    • @OhioLiving
      @OhioLiving 5 лет назад

      Mountain Sols you mean the lower portion of the cylinder walls were not clearanced enough so it impacted? Do you have pics of the impact? Should show signs on the connecting rod...

    • @mountainsols8450
      @mountainsols8450 5 лет назад

      I don't even know honestly 😂 they were just eBay rods. But with all of the hbeam rods I saw for the motor required notching of the block. I know the bearings were definitely not good quality they were just cheap like $25 king bearings

  • @OhioLiving
    @OhioLiving 5 лет назад

    I would highly suggest that you don’t start relocating stuff. You really don’t have the experience to do that and be successful. Pull it out, clean it up and repaint it

    • @mountainsols8450
      @mountainsols8450 5 лет назад

      Yeah you're right I kinda gave up on that idea 😂 I just don't want to mess with stuff rn except maybe the harness to do a tuck on it but that's it
