Gravely ZTX 42 Front Wheel Bearing Replacement
In this video we fix a busted wheel bearing on a Gravely ZTX 42 Zero Turn Mower
We noticed something wasn’t right when the wheel began wobbling. Upon a little investigation we discovered what looked to be a busted bearing. After taking the wheel off and looking inside, sure enough one of the bearings was completely busted. We were unable to find the replacement at the dealer we bought the mower from so we were told the size of bearing and found our own at a local hardware store.

First Mulch Job In New Truck

We fit 2 yards of mulch in the 8 ft bed and 1 yard on our 5x10 trailer. We probably could have fit 1 more on the trailer and maybe 1 more piled high in the bed. The job was smooth and a success. Here we are getting it done in the rain. Not ideal conditions for working but sometimes you’ve just gotta do what you’ve gotta do. We had a lot of rain in a week and we got behind so we had to make this lawn up. Happy to get it taken care of!

We got a new trailer! The old wood has rotted out, but in this video we show Josh replacing the rotten wood with new fresh wood! This trailer is a fantastic upgrade for us! Don’t even touch those yards that haven’t been cut in a while if they don’t want to be on a regular schedule weekly or biweekly stay away from them. Those types of customers will cost u in the long run.
I wonder how long it would have lasted with a 54 in. deck ? The same size machine will work a lot harder with a large deck .
FYI, it's easier if you lower the deck first. 🤣
You are correct it is easiest to remove the deck after it is lowered as low as it will go! Happy mowing!!

No way a 335 lasted 500 hours, it is weakest shittiest john deer zero turn ever mad, I believe 535R would last that long, I have no clue how you got 500 hours out of a 335 wow 🤔
It’s an entry level zero turn mower designed for homeowner use but it was an upgrade from my tractor style Husqvarna. Was fortunate enough to begin this season with a new mower. I used this z335e for 3 seasons and have used it a couple of times this year for rougher properties. I like the z335e and for the price I couldn’t complain. It’s got 560 hours on it now.
I know a guy that used a z225 with the small Briggs and Stratton for his business about 10-15 years ago and it served him well.
It's all about proper maintaining. I have close to 500 hours on mine.
@@1marlojenkins125 just used mine again today for an acre and it did a good job!
The reason your replacing the blade to blade belt often, is because your not blowing the grass out around the shieves and belt. That gets grass clipping packed in and causes the belt to crack. Blow it down everytime your done mowing and that belt will last. My z665 I have over 700 hrs and never replaced either belt yet.

The 42 is a ideal size especially when you have those gates to get through💯👍🏾
Fits through just about everything. Have to pull the grass chute up often though when passing through gates. Happy Mowing BigSon, have a great season!

I got the 2023 Gravely ZT X 42 with bagger (not power bagger). It's AWEFUL!! I do NOT recommend. The mower blows grass, leaves, debris all out of ALL sides of the mower including in front which goes RIGHT into your face and eyes! It's absolutely awful. I was advised to slow the mower engine/speed and that will fix it and it did NOTHING! The bagger is the 1st time Gravely did their own and it's AWFUL. The bags are WAY too behind the mower so if you're driving along side of a structure or fence, you can't just turn away from the structure normally b/c the bags are so far behind the mower, turning normally, the bags crash up against the structure. Literally the only good thing about the Gravely ZT 42 is the Kawasaki engine and looks. Also, when you lift the deck opening to see the belts etc, it gets incredibly all full of grass/sticks/leaves, like way too much. There's HUGE design flaws in this 2023 ZT X 42! BEWARE! I sold this mower despite having it for 1 season and the new one I got, (different company with Kawasaiki engine) works great and as it should. The Gravely is flashy and looks nice but man-o-man, did AWFUL at cutting functioning. Thankfully I was able to sell it readily
Dang I have not tried a bagger with it but I like the way the 3 blades chop up the grass clippings and leave the lawn looking nicely cut. I don’t have a lot to compare this mower to but overall I am satisfied with it. What did you end up going with after selling?
@@Lagerslawn glad you're satisfied with it! I dunno what the issue with mine was, maybe just the 42" deck has a design flaw or something. I ended up getting a Cub Cadet and it works a lot better.. no more spewing dibris out all sides of the deck, including up into the belts area. Much better. I wish The Gravely didn't have the major issue but it did

I got the 2024 Cub cadet 42 Fab (fabricated deck). It’s been far better and works how I’d expect a zero turn mower to work and mow. Its price is also a lot better.. doesn’t have some of the bells/whistles but it’s fine with me. I had an hour counter for like 40 bucks added on at the build. Well worth it for re-sell but also scheduled maintenance

I sold the mower after 1 season and after contacting both the dealer and contacting Gravely were USELESS. I bought an other brand with Kawasaki engine altogether and it works as it should so, finally I have a normally functioning mower again that doesn't spew debris out all sides of the deck and the new one I got has the normal suction into the bagging system. What a headache but finally on to mowing lawn as I should. The Gravely ZT X 42 is a cool looking mower and has some nice things like adjustable seat, visible gas level, cell charger BUT, what good are those things if the mowing functionality is awful?? Very glad I sold it but I really--REALLY would have preferred that it worked well and that I didn't need to sell it. My new zero turn works great, thankfully but, what a significant pain to get a brand new Gravely only to have to sell it and get an other brand.

@@travisa3323 To answer your question, with the money I got for the Gravely, I got a 2024 Cub Cadet ZT1 42 also with Kawasaki engine. It doesn’t have the bells and whistles but it honestly works really great, and a lot better. It doesn’t spew debris everywhere. The fabricated deck works a lot better than the gravely’s! Also, the rear tires don’t dig up spots like the Gravely did as well.
@@malcolmh5736 Doesn't that one have the 18 hp Kawasaki? Did you notice much difference between it and the 21 hp on the gravely?
@@travisa3323 odd, my last reply got taken off. I just looked and it has the exact same 21.5 hp. Maybe the 2024s have it vs the leftovers

Have the exact Mower purchased in 2022 brand new and the front wheel snapped off at the frame and the other one is cracked also ..77 hours on mine..smh

@Lagerslawn yes luckily it's still under warranty..I literally just took it from storage and mowed 5 minutes on the flat when it occurred

@@Lagerslawnnice video I have a jd 48" zero turn mower but I have a problem with this almost since brand new,so this thing can't cut less that 3 inch high because the belt will go out of the pulleys and get broken(It happened twice)I took to my local jd shop but they said "sorry we can't do nothing" so sometimes I need to cut the grass less than 3" high maybe 2", 2 1/2 high like others brands mowers can do,anyways....I paid around $3,500 two years ago but I I'm thinking to sell it for because I can't find the solution for this😢 any suggestions please.
@@DavidHernandez-ue4fz David, my suggestion is to set your deck down to desired height ,3 to 2 1/2 inches. Then take a good look at what the belt maybe rubbing on. Check the shieves and clutch shieve for any rough areas. Check the routing of the belt for any area that might be rubbing and also belt guide that might be rubbing. When you lower your deck down, maybe the belt is stretching and rubbing on something. Check for paint that is rubbing off around shrouds and guides or anything that might be in the belts route. Also, grass clipping packed in around the shieves will cause the belt to crack. Hope that helps you out.

I have a few questions. Is this with your DIY chute blocker? Do you have dedicated mulching blades? Do you think you could have mowed it only once with the factory mulching kit or was the grass just too tall? Keep up the good work!
how about CAPS on your gas can spigot ??????? if you STOP QUICK, you could in one hexx of a real MESS besides that, the gas cans ARE NOT SECURED FOR TRAVEL.
