This is a terrible video.

This league (WAGS) required use of cards to coaches in their rules of competition, for disciplinary accountability purposes.

To people saying he is a bad referee because he carded the coach learn the rules of that particular league before you say something. In club soccer generally you don't Card the coach, but some youth leagues want you to display the card anyway. Each league can have it done the way they want. However in the higher level leagues no you don't display a card

In Georgia a ref can card a player, coach, or spectator. They no longer show the red card to a coach but that's what an ejection equals.

Depending on local league assoc rules or tournament rules this may be protocol. You can show cards in high school. Regardless, this is some of the worst game management by a referee I have ever seen. I'm a referee and this is embarrassing.

I'm an assistant coach for a middle school team in North Carolina, our head coach got a yellow card for arguing calls by the ref.

Coaches can be ejected from games, however, they cannot be shown a red card. Perhaps, in this case, the referee showed the red card to the coach so that the coach could know he was being ejected from the game.

Funny how a lot of these comments say something to the effect " I am a certified/USSF ref and the laws say you don't card coaches"..very true. However, local leagues/city/rec leagues or tournaments may have provisions that coaches WILL be shown cards in order to control coaches. It's not like FIFA or USSF officials will swoop down and say these games don't count. If tournament organizers decide cards will be shown to coaches, that's their call.

Well, as a ref you can red card any member of a team including coaches, trainers and team managers. The more people complain about the call during the game and tell at the ref that he missed it or needs glasses he more likely games will result like this. If I was the ref In this game I would have carded the coach and if the parents said anything to me I would have kicked them out.

If you're talking about Washington State, then no, you can't red card a coach as a ref, and I'm fairly sure you can't in the rest of the US as well. I ref youth games and every year when I have to decertify it is very clear that coaches cannot be shown the red card. He should have just told him to leave

interesting that that audio is only cut out for the when the referee and the coaches are talking. Very suspicious. The videographer, however, forgot to edit out his obnoxious comments at the end. He's lucky he didn't get tossed from the game, too. I probably would have dismissed him if I was in the center. His comments were public and provocative.
