The odd thing on the Z8 is that the display on the screen and the top screen record time don’t match up. So I have a 512 CF and top screen shows 2h49m but the back screen shows 2h05m. So the limit display on the back screen is 2h05 min no matter if I set it from 4k or 1080. I called Nikon and they said that’s normal lol it would be nice if both showed the same info

anyone tried the sigma 24-70 with etz?

If Nikon doesn't bring the flexible color picture profile to at least the current Expeed 7 camera generation as a firmware update, they would be as incredibly stupid as one could imagine. Nikon really had a good idea here to inspire Fujifilm customers and possibly move them to Nikon. But the feature is only marketed half-heartedly. Why? Actually you should bring it to all Z cameras. As a Z6 user I would be really grateful. Something like this greatly strengthens the relationship between manufacturer and customer. And with loyal customers, the manufacturer can also plan better for the future. The Nikon Imaging Cloud can only be a success if it is used for more than just the Z6III exists. Unfortunately, when I asked Nikon several times, I only received meaningless answers of the simplest kind. I find something like that very annoying. A manufacturer should be able to communicate better with customers and prospects. After all, this is just a simple feature and not a secret miracle camera that is in top secret development. In addition, one should not underestimate the number of sales that are based on positive recommendations from satisfied existing customers. The technology is there and it should be easy to bring it to the other Nikon Z cameras via firmware. So Nikon take care of your customers and the future is yours.

I am still leaning but have been trying picture control on my Zf since the day I purchased using multiple picture control sources… it’s not the same and not as intuitive as Fujifilm’s film sim. Also Nikon PC doesn’t save WB, doesn’t offer chrome adjustment nor grain, Also no RBG adjustment is available even on the official app/software… Not quite sure so far.

Hello Joshua, great video, I just got the z9 and have sony lenses and the A7iv I was thinking of buying the tamron35-150 for nikon z. But wanted to ask you an update of your opinion is the tamron z faster on the z9 or would the tamron sony with the adaptor work the same on the z9. If I can use it on both cameras it would be great. I considered getting this for a Z8, because I love my Tamron 20-40mm on my A7R5. But I do remember not being able to update my firmware on.the Tamron - the lens or camera just wouldn't except the update, so I gave up. I'm glad I've watched this video because it would have probably been necessary to update the lens. I did contact Tamron but they didn't reply.

You should have tested NRAW Normal as well, not just High.

Hey man i have a question for the fuji provia 100f is it recommended to always shoot on iso 100? What to do if its night where u have to bump up the iso

now that the tamron release the z mount 25-150, it is more affordable to use samyang 25-150.

Hi, I am considering the new Tamron 70-180 G2 for use with my Nikon ZF but using the Megadap ETZ21pro since its not available for Nikon (yet?) do you recommend going down this route ? and if it arrives in NikonZ mount later, upgrade it. Did you upgrade your 35-150 to the Nikon Z mount version in the end ?

I have zf + z mount version of the tamron. And only using af-c + burst mode while zooming quickly sometimes the focus get stucked and impossible to refocus, I have to shut down and turn on again. This is not happening on my z6ii body though…

I almost though myself into NOT buying this lens (too expensive for me at the moment) and your video forces me to rethink everything again 😢 i know i will miss wider than 35mm in tight places like bride/groom houses, but that versatility.... I wish it was something like 28 to 125 :)

Nice video. A couple of additions. I number them, if you want to comment on one of them. (1) You can make Picture Controls in your camera too, save, export, import, along the lines of the video. (2) Nikon's free "raw processor" NX Studio holds Picture Controls as well, and in NX Studio, you can edit, save, etc. again. (3) With memories of what characterised film stock, printed on specific paper, I must admit that I have not seen a film emulation yet that really looks like the original they are named after. For example, (4) Kodak Tri-X would be different in 135 confection (35mm film) than in 120 roll film (e.g. used in Hasselblad film cameras). Also, the grain would differ depending on the "developer" (chemical formula), temperature, and the process of developing (motion, how often, etc.) The latter would also impact gradation and contrast envelope (dynamic range in a single shot). Then being B&W negative film, you would print it on paper with a monochrome negative emulsion that would be available in different brands and contrast versions, or surface, etc., all leading to different perceptions of the resulting image. (5) What makes a big difference in how you perceive your digital images is if your camera has an OLPF or not. The OLPF was introduced to make raw processing easier, but with increasing resolution it gets too much in the way. Nikon Eliminated it in the D800E version of the D800 - both 36MP and OLPF aside identical. We get more contour sharpness, better low light, larger colour space, more contrast envelope, and some impact on vignetting, from removal of the OLPF. But raw processing is more difficult and we frequently see noise (grain) in the blurry zones, low contrast zones, and dark zones of our hi-res images. I call that noise "Bayer noise" and if seen in images shot at, say, LV 10, then it is bluntly put, inadequate or failed raw processing. In trying to get Tri-X grain, you might want to use this effect. But you cannot get it by default in all cases. If you don't want the Bayer noise, then make sure to use an optional noise processor: in order of age, DeNoise AI in Topaz, DeepPRIME in DxO PhotoLab (as standalone plug in sold under PureRAW name), or Enhance AI Denoise in Adobe Camera Raw.

I bought the same adapter for a Nikon ZF, when I got the adapter in the box their was no watchmen to update firmware, any way when I mount a Sony G 24mm f2.8 to the Nikon ZF I can see what I want to photograph but the f stop on my camera screen doesn't register the f stop that the lens is set to and even though the camera was set to auto focus on the screen it shows manual focus, not happy with the setup I bought a Sony A7II open box unit from Adorama camera for 860 dollars, the camera came with a 28-70 kit lens and the price covered tax and shipping, the Sony A7II is a older camera but it is perfect for what I will use it for, it joins my camera collection of Pentax, Panasonic, Olympus, Fujifilm and Nikon cameras.

Hi, how do you think about this plan if I buy this lens in E-Mount version with Megadap ETZ21Pro to use with Nikon Z8 instead of Z-Mount version, because I want to use this lens in with my Sony camera too. How accurate AF? Is it work fine?
