abilitease is a company that I created to develop independence solutions for individuals with varying disabilities. I want to make functional and innovative products that will help people in the disabled community not only be more independent, but improve their quality of life.
Having been a quadriplegic (C-5/6) for over 27 years, I have seen a lot of different techniques and/or products for independent living. I created this RUclips channel because I want to share my own personal experiences with you and hopefully help some individuals out there who may be struggling or who may have unanswered questions.
The techniques I will show in my videos are based on years of practice and repetition. These techniques work well for me and my level of spinal cord injury, but they may help give you insight to achieving the goal of living a more independent live.
Thank you for watching and remember to work hard, be patient and stay positive!

初めまして、あなたを見て大変だなぁって思いメッセージしました。
Hi there, I’m super impressed that you designed this piece! What program did you use to make the prototype as I’m a designer myself?
Thank you! I used Autodesk Fusion 360.
:|
that is 3d printed, which would only cost 50-75 cents of filament
Great job
God bless you bro
thanks for sharing this

do you drink coffee?
Love it!!
Thank you!
Thank you so much! What kind of mattress do you have that appears relatively firm for transfers, but obviously must be plush enough to avoid pressure sores?
That's what I'd like to know, the kind of mattress he uses. My husband is an incomplete quad and is ready to transition from the hospital bed in the living room back to our room and bed. The spinal cord team just suggests a low loss air mattress. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I would have call the police right then
Thank you. I am a recent paraplegic and have been having trouble just putting pants or shorts on without bothering my wife. This is helpful to me thank you very much
I just came across your channel and noticed no recent videos.. are you not making any new videos for your channel?

I got like that about 2 months ago. I was up one night in excruciating pain. I ended up in emergency room. I never had this problem before. I do get a lot of spasms and it's irritating. That my bladder wouldn't work. Then she gave me these things were she called it a one use. She Said 1 in the morning 1 in the evening. I was thinking we'll shoot I'll be more often than that if I'm going to be throwing it away it after 1 use I'm drink supposed to drink about 8 cups of water a day. Water itself makes me go like a tea . I had a bladder infection so I had to drink more water. I kind of got off coffee years ago. I'll be in too much reflux. Now I even drink maybe like 1 or 2 a month. And I'll drink a little light not heavy strong. I had to stop drinking sodas cuz carbonation and caffeine was bad. I quit drinking soda cold turkey . What I don't understand if you're going to urinate every 2 or 3 hour's. And they tell you only use 1 catheter 1 time . I could end up using about 5 a day on catheters. Can irritate your urethra and bladder. I'm finding I have to use more a day. Cuz I get up in the night to have to use another. Almost feels like I'd rather had the bag 1 that you don't have to use a bag but you still leave it in. The only thing I'm finding out if I don't have to use a donut pillow to sit down because of the catheter stays in all the time. And hurts to sit Down on the catheter all day. liked it better that way actually. I thought even had to carry a bottle and I could use a tube sticking out on my waste and I'm not worried about having to go to the find a bathroom to use a catheter. And I don't drink late night. I've notice they tell you just to drink a few sips of water at night hours at night. Few sips put me into the pressure mode to use another catheter. Anybody else have problems like that or how something can change or how to change it.? I'm never had depression in my life. So this thing really put you on a spin.
I wouldn't trust this one bit 😂 That said, the double ring ankle straps with a carabineer work amazingly well around poles.
Nice
Nice work and what an invention 👍😉
Thank you!
Do NOT use RibGrips. With in 6 to 7 months, they stretch out and you lose good contact with the push rim and then they power assist wheels don't work as well...at least with the NaviONE's.
A great tip for more support around the toilet is a walker turned backwards...it gives rails on each side.
Call tow truck company
I am so freaking petty would sit there until that person came out and saw me sitting there. I want to say nothing cause action speak louder than words
Always count on the boys 💯
Ikr I am sry but I cannot stand ppl like this
That person scuse me no better term for person dumbass should not have part like that for poor people that is in wheelchairs
I'd be confronting the stupid person immediately! People who do this need to be given a ticket!
Push-Ease wheelchair gloves are now sold at your favorite store: Sport Aid. Living Spinal sells Blax push rims. I can't find the company, 'Blax'. Could you put skateboard tape on a palm of a glove?
does your insurance pay for these
Yes I am fortunate to get all of my catheters covered by insurance.
Where can I buy this product?
Hi, thank you for the demo, really informative. Just out of interest which is your preferred wheelchair make and model, I’ve got to the point where I need a chair and undecided on the make, so many to choose from.
Need this!!!!!!!
👍👍👍
Just a suggestion- have someone modify a pair of dress pants for you - you know like those jogging pants with the zipper- that way you can unzip on the days you have therapy to access your legs. The last thing you want is develop rotator cuff problems- all that twisting of your shoulder in the chair, is straining the shoulder - not good. Safer to get dressed in the bed. Take care of those shoulders as much as you can! Kind of reminds me of someone I knew who had a stroke and he learned to do a lot of things one handed but he also used his teeth- well his teeth started coming out and he stated "I feel like I am running out of resources" :-) Not funny but the way he said it was very cute Correlate this- take care of the what works vs misusing it- think repetitive strain injury- treat yourself gentle.
C5 quad for 20 years. Got a little chubby after 10 years of marriage. Haha. I've always kept a workout regiment. 30 minutes of hand cycling on a Saratoga everyday and then I work out 3 to 4 days a week on an upper tone machine. Even with that I gained a little weight. Noticed my clothes weren't fitting as well as they once had. Switched to the keto lifestyle and the weight just melted off. Still have a little quad belly but my clothes fit a lot better. Dropped 40 lb in like 6 months and all I have to do is maintain now. Keto doesn't mean just eat fatty shitty foods either. It's healthy fats, protein and vegetables. It's a sacrifice of a lot of good foods but your energy levels will increase and slimming down just comes with it. Best decision I've ever made, especially after 20 years of being in a chair. It revitalized me.
Thanks for the information. We are similar in a lot of ways. It sounds like you found something that works well for you. I'm at the point where I need to make a change. I gained some weight and it's harder to do the things I do daily like dressing and transferring. I love food, but energy and independence are far more important. I think clean eating is key on many levels along with consistent exercise and strength training. I will look into Keto. Take care!
My neighbor who is a quadriplegic and has been in a chair for over 30 years just last year switched to a suprapubic system and now does not have to self catheterize anymore. He said the difference is amazing and very good. I have MS so we are always chatting on the street when we see each other. He fills me in on the latest that he is doing.
That's awesome. Thank you for the information. Yeah I have thought about switching, but the catheterization has been pretty good so far. But I'm definitely open to it in the future. Take care.
I can walk around . But my bladder started like that 2 months ago. How is running to the bathroom every 5 or 10 minutes. I was actually timing my trips and how often. I ended up in the depends pants and the other stuff. I had an infection of the bladder. They gave me an antibiotic one side effect is that was rare said I could turn your bladder it can stop urination. I'm still going to look into that because. Possibility is the antibiotic. That's probably what put me into this problem. Only took the antibiotic 2 days. By the second night I was in extreme pain I ended up in emergency room. Had to be catheterized to drain the urine .
What I hate about she changed me the one use twice a day. I can't urinate just twice in 24 hour's. To me my doctor didn't make no sense. Only thing I could take from that as maybe she was trying to change my bladder to go back longer hours to urinate I don't know. She didn't really explain what she was really doing.

I'm a c6 and bought a cheap amazon vacuum. It works but the filter is terrible. So I'm looking to upgrade to something better. Do you recommend the V10 as the best still? I'd be interested to get your adapters too. Don't see them on the website though.
Do you have to use a numbing gel I always thought you had to use numbing gel because it's kind of painful I have heard but I was just wondering.
Thanks Man you have helped a lot of men. Thanks
