Morphor Ensemble Eurorack Modular Chorus Effect Demo, No Talking
Just a quick video to show what the Morphor Ensemble chorus sounds like.

DLD A and B outputs run into Vortices mono mixer channels 1 and 4 panned hard left and right, with mono mixer outputs running into the Ensemble (it has two mono inputs that are summed), and Ensemble running into channel 1 on the Vortices stereo mixer, monitoring the Vortices master mix out. Eurorack Modular Ambient #11 - Ft. Mindphaser and Beads

One take cinematic, ambient modular piece. Here it is mid-winter, dark and cold. This is an old composition that I wrote a few years ago for performance. It was updated recently for an ambient night that I put on here in Narrm/Melbourne, short of a two week snap lockdown. The lockdown took its toll, but trying to pick up some energy and motivation to put on some more gigs soon, despite venue ca...

Self-generating cinematic ambient eurorack modular piece, exploring finely tweaked feedback loops and distortion through different gainstaging and saturation within various parts of a signal chain. I'm amazed at how evocative these patch techniques are for creating acoustic, orchestral tones. I hear woodwinds, brass and string elements that coalesce and lay languidly atop one another, with the ...

PUSCHA - Epithet ~ eurorack modular synth ambient music
When demoing, please try to spend more time in less extreme territory that’s more likely to be musically useful to your audience. It’s very hard to get a sense of how this works with subtle modulation from this demo, or whether the module is even capable of subtle modulation, frankly.
This was deliberate. The demos by Morphor were so subtle, I wanted to demonstrate how much this module can stretch, while giving a general sense of its sound character and how the controls respond. If you want a more musical demo here is a track I made for that purpose: on.soundcloud.com/YBwjW7LfDHMoxqhu5
Agree. It’s hard to discern the dry signal from the wet. Matter of fact, very few can do proper demos. I think one should start with the dry signal and start adding wet signal slowly, tweak and explaining… We’ll to make a long story short, learn from Divkid!
Thanks for all the patronising comments. This was meant to be a quick demo to show how it sounds, not an in-depth, synthfluencer level video. Feel free to use your own time to make your own videos.
@@puscha Well I liked your approach. By pushing the parameters harder, it gave a clear indication of what each one actually does. Few people would actually use it like this but it helps us understand the module.
@@simonriley765Thanks for saying so, really appreciate it. That is exactly what I wanted to do with this quick video.
Thanks for the demo! Hope you're enjoying it. Happy Morphing!
Great demo of what the module can do! No more live improvisation ? I'd like to see with your current system. Thanks.
Thank you! I'll get there soon enough. Slowed down since becoming a Dad but finding more time for music now he's in daycare a couple of days a week. Currently making a video about fixed filter banks.
what i need if monome connect to an eurorack?pls
You will need a monome grid and ansible module, along with a USB A to B cable :)
@@puscha thx!so what ansible module i need to have? such like?
@@raneflewit6250 ansible is the name of the module, it comes stock with 3 different apps, the one I'm using in this video is kria.
@@puschawhere can i buy?it seem no available now
I don't know if it's just me but this video enabled me to get going on this wonderfully weird thing. I love the minimalist aesthetic monome has going on but I admit their docs are usually very hard for me to understand. Thank you!
Pure rhythmic & tonal bliss !
Rewatching this again. lol - thanks for making this.
me too!
Wonderful
Best video to explAin Kria. Thx so much. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😂
great demo for this mysterious machine !
Firstly, thank you for the effort you went to making this tutorial. Awesome stuff. I am struggling to find a way to start/stop the sequencer. Reading through the documentation I haven’t found anything. Slaved to an external clock works as expected. But is there an actual transport control in kria itself?
You could use a dummy cable in the clock input, mute the channels, or if you go into the scales page, the first four rows in the first column will start/stop each channel - it's actually turning on a functionality that changes each channel to another teletype (I'm pretty sure!) but works if you want to individually stop each channel running. Otherwise you will have to use an external clock that has start/stop, or use a switch to A/B a clock with nothing.
very interesting patch, I own both modules but never got close to these sounds you created here.
THANK YOU! I really appreciate a full demo of your way of working with Kria .. Rare to find this kind of learning video
Lovely piece!
Super nice 🐙
Hands down best monome ansible kria tutorial online. Maybe a dumb question, but if you wanted to do typical 16-step 4/4 time sequencing for trance/house music, would you have to do it as 4 steps with 4 ratchets per step? Is 6 the max steps? Can I do 4 tracks with 16 steps per track?
You can do 4 tracks of 16 steps, yes. You can set this up by simply syncing it to your clock and then setting each track's length to 16. Then if you add ratchets they will be divided down within each step from 2 to 5, so this would be more to add detail and flavour than for getting basic 4/4 patterns.
wow ! I wish you made a track with that patch !
I did record a good 20 minutes of it :)
Hey, it’s Miscellany!
Haha good spotting! It is, albeit this is the raw, unedited, unmixed and unmastered version :) Took me ages to edit it down to 6 minutes!
Oh yeah, full credit to both sides of the creative process here. A lovely surprise to hear from the Morphagene Compositions thread on MW!
freakin beautiful!
How do you like the Clank?
I like it a lot! I use it as my master clock as much as I do for random gates and CV. It's really easy to use and I love being able to loop random sequences.
Nice work! I must be on the right track. My setup is 75% the same! I’m mostly Xaoc, Verbos and Instruo now. Great job!
Thank you, and nice! Would be interested to hear what you do with yours.
@@puscha Soon! Is most of that feedback ambience coming from the Multi-Delay? I'm very intrigued by that module. Also, you inspired me to swap out my knobs for Verbos/Buchla style. Looks awesome on the Joranalogue modules.
@@nickjones5641 It's a mix of things, Multi-Delay with Lubadh loops, there's DLD hidden in there, long slow envelopes, and some reverb at the end of chain. And agree! They do look good on the Joranalog modules. Less so for Instruo but I wanted it to match anyway haha.
@@puscha sorry for the dorky gear question, but what is that end-of-chain reverb?
@@alexanderkahn Dorky gear questions are always welcome! I use an OTO Machines BAM.
Very nice, thanks for sharing. Vortices search brought me here. Keep it going!
Thanks so much! More hopefully soon :)
Excellent tutorial. Thank you for making this!
great tutorial
This is fantastic
Thank you <3
love it !
Thanks so much.
love your sequences!.. where are you summing all audio signals for making the final stereo? to MMG+2xoptomix? and then? I wonder If I need Tempi :S (I found it very fast to use , faster than my Pamela)
Thank you! I use a 2hp nearness module (AKA Txn) for summed, panned mixing. The QMMG, Optomix and Sisters are useful for mixing too, when needed. I replaced my PNW with a Tempi, much happier with it! I wanted something immediate and playable. It also can mute the outputs, which I use all the time.
@@puscha thanks man. That’s incredibly valuable for me. I’ll try to do my next step learning from your evolution. What’s your setup nowadays?
@@Hessencemusic You're very welcome! I am currently waiting for a few things in the mail, but as soon as they arrive this system will look like this: www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/1668297 My other system is currently like this: www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/1590586
thank you, the best Kira tutorial i've seen.
Thanks so much!
listening again your patch... love the iteration of everything.. :) I'm trying to decide which VCA+mixer will worth... I don't know if Verbos scan/pan+befaco stmix, or Vortices alone, or tallin+stmix, or AJH VCA+stmix... :S what do you think?
Thank you! Yeah hard to decide, I guess think about what features you're after and what you've already got. I like using as few manufacturers as possible (taking into consideration "essentials" for me) as they tend to play better together. So that could be a start point. I haven't tried the ones you've listed, but Vortices is really nice and the VCA expander it comes with is super handy and sounds great to my ears. If I didn't have that I'd personally go with the Scan & Pan, since I like Verbos modules and the fact that it can saturate too.
This is great thanks. I’m thinking of taking the plunge with this, but Ansible is so hard to come by. Are there DIY version Ansible?
I'm not sure if there is at this stage, But keep an eye out on the trade section of llllllll.co (have to be a member with at least 10 posts to access it, I'm pretty sure) as well as sign up for updates from monome when they restock. You'll find one sooner or later!
Hey! Great patch! Can you describe it a little bit please? Thx?
Thank you! It's actually a pretty straightforward, mostly subractive patch. The Mindphaser is using different outputs to create some of those clicking percussive sounds along with bassline, with some help from a Make Noise FxDf. Beads is running through QMMG for some chord stab kind of sounds when pinged, or pads when opened up.
Great video. I’ve been into euro rack for about 8 months, but haven’t even heard of this sequencer. Looks awesome. Great teacher. Many thanks
You're so welcome, hope it's a help for you on your modular journey :)
wonderful patch!
Thank you :)
@@puscha I wonder if verbos harmonic oscillator worth it.. I've read a lot of user claiming because lack of quality control in Verbos modules... :S
@@Hessencemusic Totally worth it! Never had any issues with any of my Verbos modules, and I have heaps of them. Just be sure to have a good power supply. I think the majority of people don't have any issues.
@@puscha Then I'll probably start with Scan and pan.. I need some VCA and it seems to be really cool. BTW, I own a joranalogue compare module, and I'd like to replace its knob to ones like yours with verbos style, could you please tell me where do you buy them and what's the specifications of joranalogue knob that need to be fit with the replacement? thanks a lot. your rack looks amazing.
@@Hessencemusic Nice, good start. And thanks! You can buy the knobs at Thonk, they are listed on there as Rogan RB knobs. You may need to get a small hex allen key to go with them, which Thonk also sell.
2pak
excellent stuff.
Thank you :)
Whats the name of the xternal step sequencer?
It's a monome grid, it plugs into their ansible module, and in this case is running the kria app :)
@@puscha Where can i get one and can it be used as 128 steps sequencer for my modular?
@@christiangreven8991 monome.org and yes you can in a roundabout way using meta-sequence, which is kind of like a song mode for stringing together up to 16 16-step sequences. I think it's much more interesting to find oher ways to make 16-step sequences more interesting with it over having more steps though, IMO
Fantastic! Subscribed!
Thank you :)
Very great, with which oscillator/s you paried the Triptych?
Xaoc Odessa combined with filtered noise from Verbos Noise & Filter, and some feedback processing running back into it too. I used Joranalogue Morph 4 as the main mixer with it in this patch :)
@@puscha do you prefer Odessa vs verbos hamonic oscillator?
@@Hessencemusic Hard to say! They're both so different and both sounds so beautiful. Odessa is my dream module for glassy bell tones, while Harmonic Oscillator is an amazing piece of analog art. Depends on the use!
Nice!
This is a very helpful video, many thanks for doing it!
My pleasure! Hope it opens it up to you. Such a great sequencer.
@@puscha It certainly will! By the way, did you make any videos about Meadowphysics? Or can you recommend one? Looks like quite an interesting way to sequence as well!
@@unsaame9505 I have not, and haven't really seen many good videos on it either. It's a lot more simple but can be really nice. It's very generative. If I find some time perhaps I'll make one someday. But I use kria most of the time anyway :)
@@puscha Thanks for taking the time to answer my question; I'm new to it and a bit overwhelmed with all the possibilities the platform offers ;-) I'm sure that Kria, and MLR, should keep me entertained for a while! Cheers!
@@unsaame9505 It is for sure a very overwhelming world to get into! Patience and persistence are your friends. This is really fucking great man. Thanks for sharing! I'm assuming that's Kria that you're using, yeah? I've got an Ansible on it's way (finally) and can't wait to dig into it.
