That's one spicy FE!
I’m building a basically stock 390 .030 over, I want the best cam for a possible single turbo. I don’t have adjustable rockers so I will have to go with a hydraulic setup. I have a set of c6ae-R heads that are worked over. Aluminum intake. Any suggestions on cam recommendation? Thanks guys!
I dont think some folks understand this is a near stock engine with just a bolt on sc. Making nice power and good longevity.
Pathetic number for a 390 with a super charger on it.
nice bild the best from holland
You'd have to spend more to get that power NA better off with the supercharger
How much hp did it make? It did 506 ft lbs tq, but I never saw the hp.?
pretty quiet. I was waiting for the high rpm blast that never came
445 hp & 504tq is not unreasonable for a naturally aspirated street-strip build.
But the streetability of a stock cam and the bolt on ease make it the best dollar for power
My 394 FE is streetable and makes 463 ft lbs and 503 hp na/ I built it in 1999. These blowers are more expensive than a good rebuild and a blower. I like a good 390 na and maybe a turbo charger. The blower has the belt to worry about.
Hi great video. I have a 390 fe and I was wondering if that torqstorm supercharger kit still allowed u to run an alternator bellow it
You can see the alternator undernwath
it's disheartening that it's so hard to put a real (Roots) supercharger on an FE
Not really. Theres a few intake and blower adapters if you look hard enough
@@MrEvilTag I saw one on some kind of high rise once, but without having it a foot or more out of the hood, the distributor is square in the way :-(
The intakes ara available.
What was specs in 390 and how many pound of boost did it make
Can a 360 bore have tune up just like this one I need help
Was all was done 2 the heads n wat type bottom end parts u went with im thinking about similar build just curious on on a few things
I want one soon for my 445 stroker FE engine.
what kit did you use?
Same
I went to Survival Motorsports, ie Barry Robotnick.
2900$ kit is worth every penny. A good 390 stock build is about 2500. That's cheap for 500 hp.
This is the first FE I have seen with a Torq-Storm blower. Thanks for sharing!
That supercharger cost more the the motor though... Its a big dollar commitment... For 500 hp
2800 is nothing compared to other supercharger alternatives
@@MrEvilTag eBay turbos are proven to last for some weird reason..500 dollars
@@buffalophil3630 ebay turbos are hit or miss. Some are good years some blow up in days
506 hp.... at only 4000rpm... Wow!! Most motors dont come slive until 4000...
506 was torque
Just wondering if you had done any upgraded internal parts to handle the boost?
If low boost possibly 50/50
Would this be a good supercharger for a 360. Will the 360 hold up?
Big Block Bump Side these guys don’t ever respond back it seems I’ve been waiting and waiting the other guy with the torquestorm he hasn’t answered either
Nathan Dunn yah. May have to reach out to them via their email on their website
a 360 and 390 are identical other then the crank stroke i would say even 8 pounds is doable with turbo or supercharger as long as you keep the tune on the rich side as cast pistons are not very friendly to detonation
Cameron Bixler gotcha i knew they were the same block and everything but was just wondering
@@bigblockbumpside2296 I say definitely 360 stroke is much lower
With this set up how and what did you do with the timing then what carburetor was used and is there some keep boost reference and what was the compression ratio I’m sorry for so many questions but I got a 390 transplanted in a 78 i was show thinking about some boost but just never really saw it on these motors
Did you ever find out? Same question haha
@@MattPro806 unfortunately not Mr Wayne had passed some years ago the only thing I can gather is it’s pretty much stock 390 and for the fueling I think I’m just going to go with that Holley sniper throttle body cause it can take boost I will do that video pretty soon
@@mississippiwrenches295 dang that’s too bad!:( I didn’t know The sniper could handle boost that’s way cool. I’ve been planning to do a sniper on my 74. If you do, put up a vid Of it I’m Interested to follow
@@MattPro806 I show will 👍🏾
@@MattPro806 and I’m also planning on doing a 5 speed in that truck that could handle that torque
What were the gains, and at what boost?
It had a total gain of 104 H.P. and boost at 5000 rpm was 5.4 lbs. The best torque and h.p was at 4000 rpm it had 504 ft lbs of torque and 440 h.p and 3.4 lbs of boost. On the run without the torq storm hooked up which would be just a stock 390 it had 230 hp between 3500 and 4000 rpm. it is a nice kit and for the price and had a good gain,
What’s the compression
@@waynesengines8986 interesting might not need a stroker then for my 390
What compression do you need to build the engine at for these sysytems
@@lukecullett9044 torqstorm says under stock boost it should be able to run on stock components
