RC Baja 5b SS Engine Rebuild 2020 - Teardown. CY Fuelie. (Part 1) HPI, KM, Rovan.
I tear down the 26cc Fuelie engine out of my Baja 5B SS that I have had from new and built as a kit way back in 2011. After a run on the beach in 2016 it was put in the garage and life got in the way. Now it's time to resurrect the Baja and rebuild it from the ground up so we can do some Bashing!
The first video from me and I hope not the last. Please like and subscribe if you found this useful and want to see more.
You only require a few tools to tear down your engine to get it to the stage you can fully appraise it:
3mm Allen Wrench
4mm Allen Wrench
5mm Allen Wrench
10mm Socket
13mm Socket
Sparkplug Wrench
Flywheel Puller
Piston Stopper
I hope this helps and I hope you enjoyed the video.

Looks just like my 4port 29cc rovan 5B. Same colour as well. My engine is fine but the rear differential was seized. Front was all smashed up. Steering was seized. Aluminium was bent in multiple locations. Anyway I am attempting to fix it all for less than $20
So where is part 2 🥱🥱🥱
Excellent video, you could totally see that drill was going to bite you!!! Always easier in hindsight. Can’t wait for the next video
just a small edition to your commentary: this is much easier if you use reverse drill bit(s) - using it means it will drill into the stuck screw(s) depending on how stuck it is it may eventually thread it loose. if not, you tried and keep on drilling. from own experience i have had the luck to thread the stuck screws out eventually more times then not.
I thought I better update everybody that has asked, I have now started work on part 2!!! The engine is coming together!!! :)
Part 2??
I think I should the part 2 video for you...🤣
haha, I promise a part 2 is coming!
@@rcvida eagerly waiting
Your first and last video haha
Haha, I'm working on part 2 right now :)
Question bro I'm running 20/1 in my 26cc hpi baja and the plug keeps on stuffing up what can I do to prevent it
Hi Mark, I use a 25:1 ratio but use a high performance fully synth castrol oil. I haven't had any fouling of the plug. What oil do you use, might be the culprit?
I hope part 2 comes out .I saw in the comments that work has got in the way ,we all get that my friend !! lol could you tell us what the rebuild kit was that you used please ?
Hi Ken, are you in the UK? I didn't buy a kit, I bought what bits I needed using the original Baja SS manual from various online shops here in the UK. For part 2 I'll try and make a list of what is needed for a 'refresh' rebuild.
@@rcvida Thanks so much for getting back to me ..I am in Canada and the motor I have looks just like yours .This is my first 1/5 scale car ,I have 1/8 scale cars but this is my first 1/5th scale and it's a king motor baja 5b 2nd hand ..I will look out for the next video ..Cheers
Part two now please I’m so into the hpi Baja 5b engine rebuilt😁
more on the baja please
Sad to see there was never a part 2, but still quite informative. I pulled my baja out of the garage, where it has lived for almost 6 years now, and I'm hoping to revitalize it. My engine does turn over, but it will not start, so I am betting I need to rebuild (or heaven forbid, replace) the carb assembly.
Hi, it has been some time but there will be a part 2 at some point. Work has got in the way, it's still in bits on the bench!
@rcvida would love to see part 2 sir. Mainly the piston and ring as I'm looking at rebuilding the same engine
great video and very informative.
Thank you!
