I’m in CA sadly so I have to keep the cats on. I installed the flowmaster 40 kit and also deleted the resonator. I just welded on a piece of straight pipe where I cut out the resonator.

@@raymondjohn3396 flowmaster 44 will be quieter and less aggressive sounding. 44 for a little more sound but if you want to to sound mean and loud I’d go with the super 40 or the outlaw edition of your wanting to stick with flowmaster. All depends on what you want for your setup.

Nope it’s pretty low tone but my phone doesn’t pic up that sounds range well. Resonates a little now in the cab when under a good tow load and or up a big grade. I like it. Some might not. If your choosing a muffler/exhaust from flow master I’d go with the outlaw, or the super 40 over the basic 40 like this if you want lower tone and loud.

I’d say that depends on your intake setup and if you roll with your windows down. Intake noise is never all that loud and you gotta listen for it. Right when I cut off the resonator I was still running the factory air box and a k&n filter. I didn’t notice much of the sound then. Since then I have installed the banks Ram air and love it. Now there is an unmistakable intake sound from the engine bay. 🤘🏻

Melody Munoz yeah we have animals around but we can’t keep our cats from eating what ever they get their claws into. But atleast our lab doesn’t eat the birds around here anymore. Just keeping up on the deworming every year or so. Thanks for your concern though!

Sorry no I don’t know the part number. It’s the Flow Master 40 SISO (single in single out) 3” inlet 3”outlet. Went 3in piping from the cat back.

Martin Villanueva yes I’ll have this rig for a long time haha and no, nothing noticeable. Still tows my boat like it’s not there. I also have it tuned with the Edge CTS2 so that helps a lot. Sounds far better with out the resonator on in my opinion. Now I’m considering straight pipes 🤗

I’ve got an 03 Tundra 4.7 with a flowmaster 40 with a resonator. How much better is the exhaust if you delete the resonator? Drone a lot worse?

drew beisly thanks for dropping by! Ya the resonator being gone makes it sound a lot better. You don’t get the full sound at all in this video. Also, just added an optima red top for more lights coming soon and did a full Stop-Tech cross drilled and slotted brake kit upgrade today. Video update coming soon 🤙🏻

JohnnyRebKy yeah the resonators are dumb for sure... more of the newer trucks with V8’s will have them. 13 and up I believe. It will be a cylinder about a foot and a half long just back from the cats. Being that I’m in CA, I know it’s awful... I can’t lob off my cats and what not like everyone else can 😭 if you like it loud and don’t mind a bit of drone (I prefer it), the super 44 and no resonator will sound sexy. I have another video kinda touching base on the resonator if you would like to check it out. Good luck with your new rig and post some videos so I can sub! 🤙🏻

I bought the 2011 F150. With yours sounding that good with a 40 AND having the resonator on there I think I will just have a 40 put on mine and leave the resonator alone. What size inlet and outlet did you use??? I keep getting different answers. I thought the stock pipe was 3 inch before the muffler and 2.5 after stock but I could be wrong. Maybe I should just buy a 2.5 in and 2.5 out??? I like your tone its just right accept I want duel tail pipes. BTW...I LOVE THE NEW FORD!!! My first ford after driving Chevy my whole life. My chevys were good trucks but Ford has stepped its game up big time. On top of that I couldn't deal with the GM crackpot idea of running on 4 cylinders at highway speed to save basically no MPG. Ive got family who's had to have engine replacements in brand new chevys because of oil consumption due to this feature. Cadillac did that in early 90s and it was complete disaster so I dunno what dumbass decided it was good idea again. I know my new 5.0 runs ON ALL 8 and it flat out hauls ass!! Love it

JohnnyRebKy honestly I would remove the resonator. It’s pointless. Super easy to do yourself or at the muffler shop. Just don’t buy the stupid “kit” the costs $150. I did it myself for $30. And I’m running 3in pipe from the cats back. 3in SI/SO. I like it loud but this isn’t loud enough for me. I will eventually install the “flow master outlaw”. You won’t regret lobbing off the resonator and getting rid of the huge nasty stock muffler.

rednallohd really you can get it at any auto parts shop. I just went to the local muffler shop. Yes it's 3" just have them flair the ends to slide over the existing pipes. You can see he flairs in the video. It's super easy and wayyy worth it. Good luck.

Yeah that flair was what I was curious about. I was just going to have my brother in law weld but that looks good with the flaired out fit. Thanks!

rednallohd yeah you should flair it. Makes fitting it up easy. Just make sure your in law knows how to weld. A mig/or accetiline welder will work. Use soapy water to check for air leaks/bad missed welds when the truck is running. Look for bubbles on the welds.

Kyle Kenan Hey thanks for watching. Honestly it's not bad at all. It sound way better in my opinion. It is louder for sure outside/inside of the cab. What little drone you do actually get from this is minimal and only noticeable under acceleration. I love mine the way it is and I will not be putting the resonator back on. Hope this helped!

Kyle Kenan then removing the resonator will be your best bet. I'll eventually be going to the super 40 muffler but this is great for now.

I just traded mine in with resonator delete and flow master 40 . The drone isn't much worse than a aftermarket muffler but I felt like I lost low end torque

Powered Reviews honestly, not bad at all. Sounds a lot better in person than in video. I just went from my home town to LA and back from my small home town (410 mile round trip) and it wasn't bothersome for me or the wife. Don't have to yell to be herd over the exhaust. Just took the tone of the 40' and un-corked it. I'd highly suggest it. Good luck and thanks for watching.

The En4cer DLR I have the super 40 right now with everything else stock. there's a bit of drone at around 110 kph. just wondering if it will be worse or same. any check engine lights?

Powered Reviews I had the super 40 on my last F150. Good sounding can. I'm going to probably go to that next after I do my lift. And yes it WILL be louder. With slightly more drone but it's not bad. It just depends on what your going for. My truck might be too loud for some but not loud enough for my liking. And no. There wouldn't be a code being thrown just from taking off your resonator. It's basically just a baffled small muffler that tones down the exhaust notes. If you do decide to take off your resonator, look at my video I posted of how I did the "delete kit" for $30. Online kits run about $215.00 that's crazy if you ask me for what it is your actually getting. Good luck. Let me know if you have any more questions and enjoy your build!
