You can fight, wound and even get lots of people killed by bugs or each other and it still be low chaos as long as you don't kill yourself. Guards chasing you into a blood bug lair and getting infested isn't your fault 🤷. that's just them being careless. Shooting someone in the knee with a crossbow then knocking their teeth out apparantly also not problematic. using guards as human shields then they get shot or stabbed by their companions also doesn't count as a kill. Pretty fun way to go actually. Most fun I had was luring the entire howlers gang into the overseers base in the dust district and they mostly killed each other.

I don't know what level he's on but the monk on that game is dealing damage to the count way faster than my sorc. If that's an example of his damage being low, it doesn't seem like too big a problem.

I think the main problem with poe2 and poe in general is that Chris is so oldschool he sometimes hates fun. I understand this mindset, I was raised in c4 x1 lineage 2 freeshards, but at some point grinding need to be balanced with breathers, especially as we grow older. So the one shot bosses before act 1 ends, no loot, very slow exping - I get what he is trying to do, but I guess I am too old now. Poe was polished by years of feedback, here we have everything very new and very very from the grinding place in Chris' veteran gaming heart. Have you got to the ascension part? For now it is either sanctum (and I personally hated that league so much I skipped it) or an insane hellish version of the ultimatum. I think they will make it more casual at some point because it is not as fun as it is annoying. We all miss Izaro now))) But that being said I am very grateful for poe because if the second part will be as polished and as feedback sensitive as the first one I actually will get the game with the balanced grind/hardship/satisfaction balance I want and need. And I hope they will still support poe 1 because it is my comfort game for years like there is nothing like do some maps or heists while listening to a podcast on a winter evening and I want to collect more trophies for the hideout))

I am so uncertain. I liked Lost Ark a lot, but I found Path of Exile really mind numbing. And Path of Exile 2 also looks... well, boring to me. Even though I like that it looks more sophisticated instead of just spamming the same skill over and over. Yet Sorcerer, the class I want to play, also just seems to spam that boring Sparks skill. (Seems there are no cool looking skills for that class at all from the footage I saw) If it was free, I would definitely try it tomorrow, but I am uncertain whether I should risk it. I also don't like the idea of having to forsake my character over and over when a new season starts, which wants to force you to abandon it all and either play specs you don't even like, or just the same one again.
