Celebrate New Year's Eve with Double Down Promotional VHS
Ring in the new year with this VHS tape, a promotional demo of a local band, presumably called Double Down. This tape was found at a thrift store in Baton Rouge, Louisiana… which “may” be where they were based? I couldn’t find any info on them, so I assume they are a couple decades in the past and no longer playing. However, hot damn was this a show to see in the day! The lead singer just exudes so much machismo, I would not have been one bit surprised if scientists extracted his sweat for developing Viagra. Fire up this video on New Year’s Eve and ring in the new year with Double Down!

'Tis the Season to be Smurfy 1988 Airing with Commercials

This special was recently rescued from a thrift store in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on a previously blank VHS tape simply labeled, "Christmas Specials." Among it were all the classics you can think of (all the major ones I can’t post that get blocked globally), all with original commercials! Some of the commercials can be dated to November of 1988. It's unclear if all of the content was recorded t...

Just the Live Action Stooges Intros - The New Three Stooges Cartoon 1965
Просмотров 602 месяца назад
Thrifted this DVD compilation recently, which had seven episodes of the rather difficult to watch cartoon from 1965. Even more difficult to watch are the specifically shot live action intros and outros for each episode, from the actual Stooges! Well, not Curly... but they do have Curly Joe! He's just like Curly because he has the same first name. So shut up and enjoy, kids! I've edited together...
The Story of Time by Rolex 1951

Thrifted a compilation DVD of seven episodes from The New Three Stooges cartoon from 1965. Oddly the eighth video was not the cartoon at all but a 1951 short film produced by Rolex, The Story of Time. It steps through the history of tracking changes in time from following the sun by ancient civilizations to... you guessed it... a Rolex on one's wrist. The short is really well done artistically,...

Blue Angels Music Video from McDonnell Douglas 90 Days corporate VHS 1990

The full version of the McDonnell Douglas 90 Days VHS was uploaded here previously. ruclips.net/video/LqIudumG38E/видео.html These are the final minutes of a rather unique corporate video giving the company's status. After nearly falling asleep from reports and managers talking about managing, they end in a BANG with this gem! Wanted to highlight it for Memorial Day 2024.
The Cloister Hotel, Sea Island Promo VHS

Found at a thrift store in New Orleans, this twelve minute VHS tape, produced by The Cloister Hotel on Sea Island, off the coast of Georgia, has a short introduction, then features beautiful shots of the resort and island while the announcer that talks about the hotel. It's your basic, average, hotel promo. I'm sure you've seen videos like this, about hotels, a million times... The video is NOT...

Found a VHS tape at a thrift store, with no sleeve, simple labeled, "90 Days: The Chairman's Quarterly Report (c) 1990" Now the first thing you might think is this is going to be a snooze-fest... well, let me tell you... you are WRONG! Turns out there's missiles, airlines and combat jets dropping bombs, not to mention a music video! If you have worked in the Defense Industry, this is pretty exc...
Family Home Evening with Maw Maw Powell
Просмотров 1211 месяцев назад
This CD was found at a thrift store in Houma, Louisiana. There was no date on it, but it was a tape recording of a conversation with "Maw Maw" about her life in the 1930's in Mississippi. Her son, mostly, asks questions about her memory of when she was newly married and what life was like when she started her family. Please be aware: Some of her references to "colored" folks may be out of place...
Super Bowl XXI 1987 Halftime Show
Просмотров 251Год назад
Found on a VHS tape, someone in Medford Oregon recorded the Super Bowl 21 broadcast in 1987. It's an absolute delight to see the difference in production from then to now, especially the Halftime Show. Wow! You just don't see shows like that anymore! A whole generation of people are unaware the Halftime Show used to be a themed medley, and not centered around a single musical guest. That trend ...
A Wish For Wings That Work 1992 Christmas Special with Commercials

CBS Christmas special aired in 1992, this Bloom County TV animation was recorded in the San Francisco Bay Area, by myself when I was home from college. I had totally forgotten I had recorded this, as well as the Return of Spinal Tap New Year's special, until I was digitizing a home movie of a college tour I made and this immediately followed.

On THE ALL-NEW JOKER'S WILD since July 15, 1985 airing every weekday morning at 10:30AM EST on ABC Daytime with host Victoria Principal, the NATURAL TRIPLE JACKPOT would have been worth $30,175 in cash and prizes to one of our contestants for this daytime version of this network game show!
First aired on Wednesday December 18, 1991. The original airing ranked 33rd of 96 shows that week, with a 13.2 rating and a 21 share, ranking second in its 8:30 pm time slot, behind Unsolved Mysteries on NBC (#7, 17.8/29), and ahead of The Wonder Years on ABC (#42, 12.1/19). The second and last airing was on Thursday December 24, 1992, which was this particular airing. It ranked 75th out of 91 shows that week, with a 5.5/14, ranking third in its time slot.
Out of curiosity, which thrift store in town did you find these tapes?
I believe it was Our Hope Thrift & Donation Center in Baton Rouge, LA. Their VHS are overly expensive at $1-1.50 ea but had a bunch of taped off TV tapes I’m still going through. Posted a commercials compilation from Christmas specials on my other channel Serious Fondue Rodeo from that same place.
@ thanks. I tried that store shortly after it opened about 6 years ago and wasn’t successful. Then again, it may have needed to wait a bit longer.
@ Haha yeah they had quite the supply of VHS tucked away but were quite surprised when I showed interest in them… like no one had ever bought them haha. I’m in New Orleans and rarely find vhs now. Was a great haul but was only out there for a vhs swap meet at the library that weekend, not my usual stomping grounds.
20:02 "why are we going down?" YOU MIGHT BE OUT OF FUEL, WHY DON'T YOU CHECK THE FUEL GAGE?
19:22 "it's a penguin" IN THE MOVIE HE ACTUALLY SAID "CHARMING CHAP"
60. Still cried.
"I need cats like I need butt implants!" *later* *butt falls off*
Thank you! I also had this recorded off TV but haven't had a VHS player in ages.
Still have my vhs...😊
Damn I miss those day's
Right?! On my other channel Serious Fondue Rodeo I made a compilation of just the commercials from this tape. A great slice of lost 80’s childhood Americana with PSAs and inappropriate news bumpers with Saturday morning cartoons promos and all. It was a magical time.
Brilliant
Damon Packard’s toast’ems starts at the 21 minute mark and ends at 26.
This is such a good Christmas Special.
have you ever seen "Lost Horizon"?
The voice of Opus the Penguin reminds me of Chaz Finster from Rugrats!
That’s because it is the same voice actor Michael Bell.
It's Chas, not Chaz!
It is the same guy.
robin williams voices the kiwi
The kiwi is clearly voiced by Sudy Nym. *giggles* Always loved that Robin was credited like that here. ❤
Dustin Hoffman was the roach.
This gives me such nostalgia. Especially the "AAAALBATROSS!!!! WENT OFF WITH AN ALBATROSS!!!!!" guy
Oh Delores.
Robin Williams as a Kiwi who is upset about the albatross
Glad you're preserving these. Much appreciated. And strangely I can't stand commercials in general, but the ones from over 20 years ago are true gems of a bygone age. Also, it helps it's from Southern Oregon before I lived here.
The Lost Horizon clip cracks me up every time. I never go a Christmas without watching this cartoon. Fun watch and good message - we all have gifts - use them.
I know, when I first saw this movie a long time ago I never realized it was the legendary Frank Capra who directed "Lost Horizon", it took me years to find that movie
That Devil sure loved John, didn't he?
Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls 26:22
The Pillsbury guy was a good ad campaign.
Who, Poppin Fresh?
@Thes the little Pillsbury baker guy that in the commercials hede be poked in the belltheNicsmom
Wish this was on every Christmas.
Sadly, the "Bloom County/Opus" creator apparently hates it.
David Lynch shows us how a pure light worker can coexist with the dark fearlessly
No one was stopping the Giants that season.
Oh I need to start meditating again!!! That'll fix so much, duh!!
Love how Lynch discusses consciousness as a vast, infinite field, where ideas and creativity exist in their purest form. To me I see this as imagination or creative play at the highest level. I resonate with his thoughts on meditation, he believes one can access this field, which he describes as the “ocean of pure consciousness.” I hear others call it flow state

So, the NJT jackpot debuted during Jack's run, not Bill Cullen's run.
The Superbowl needs and should be played permanently at the Rose Bowl Stadium
He clearly said 'Shield' and he knows he said it. He only corrected himself when Jack actually announced the answer. Once Jack said, 'Brooke Shields, you're right', he knew he messed up, and he knew exactly why the judge was interrupting. When asked what he said, he corrected himself in the form of a question, 'Shields?' He sticks out his tongue in a nervous gesture, knowing he is lying of what he said. The judge made the absolute right call here.
41:39 for the episode that if you love game shows then Hollywood ca was Disneyland for the jokers wild
This was the third episode of the McDonnell Douglas 90 Days series, released in March 1990. It was hosted by John McDonnell. The first segment showed a visit to the McDonnell Douglas Missile Systems Company's training center. After that, host John McDonnell gave a financial performance review. In the next segment, the show took us to Long Beach to watch engineering and manufacturing teams prepare the MD-11 for its first flight. The next segment showed how teamwork was leading to faster solutions on the F-15E production line. In the final segment, we were treated to a feature on the Navy's Blue Angels, set to music by Steve Vaus entitled "Angels Above America".👍
I’m interested in seeing the second episode of “McDonnell Douglas 90 Days” that aired in December of 1989. The first episode was good, and I’d love to see what they covered in the second one. The first segment in the second episode is a field trip to Long Beach for the parts manufacturing team in Torrance, California. They take the trip to see how their parts are used to build the MD-80. Next, John McDonnell gives a financial performance review. Then, there’s a segment on how the assembly team at McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Company improved efficiency in building the Apache. After that, there’s a segment on the first commercial launch of a satellite by a private United States company. The Space Systems Company used the Delta rocket in Huntington Beach, California for the launch. Finally, the episode ends with a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the McDonnell Aircraft Company.👍
I would love to see Number 1 of McDonnell Douglas 90 Days. In the first episode, "Number 1," host John McDonnell gives an introduction to the chairman's quarterly report and explains what the "90 Days" report is all about. The first segment is a visit to the Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach, California to meet an MD-80 assembly team that is thriving under TQMS. After that, host John McDonnell gives a financial performance review. In the next segment, Dale Warren of DAC provides a commentary on the DC-10 in the aftermath of the Flight 232 tragedy. In the final segment, we are given a feature on F-15E service reps at Seymour Johnson AFB in North Carolina.👍
I hope you can upload the December 1992 issue of McDonnell Douglas 90 Days. There is a lot of good stuff in that issue, including a tour of the MD-11 production line, a behind-the-scenes look at testing the C-17, and a review of the third quarter financial results.👍
I feel lucky to have watched Lawrence Taylor's career. In the words of Tina Turner, he was simply the best!!

I love parcells
2:09:17 music? Anyone? Thanks in advance.
Thank you so much for this.🏅 I have a beta to vhs copy, moldy and rough shape. You saved me!!! 👍
I watched this show sometimes when I was a kid. I always thought it seemed rigged. Then I found out the host was involved with the game show scandal in the '50's.
*STAGED* <=----------=== all of this is YEP staged.
@36 evidently even machines were managed by "A.i." decades ago in order to benefit they/them, ju know what i mean SMH Oi Vey! smh
wow - NAILED IT (pun not intended) & he won it on "religion" HERRMMM wow SMH
i love to watch the game.
I loved playing it! John
This episode actually aired. This episode actually aired on May 2, 1984 And ironically, that was the day that Jack passed away and if you look at the 3 categories religion. I believe in my heart Jack had completed his journey here. And what a way to show app by getting a natural triple of religion. In my opinion, God's way of saying, You did very well, jack, come on home. RIP Jack. We Miss You. And congrats to the natural triple winner
Each game had five categories. How were the categories and Jokers distributed on the three windows of the "slot machine" game display? Did each window have one each of the five categories, and one Joker? I'm not a statistician, but I'm trying to figure out how there could have been so many games in a row without a natural triple.
I believe each window had thirteen slides -- two of each category and three Jokers. So, the odds of spinning a Natural Triple were about 1 in 275.
51:00 NTJ.
DOnna SUmmers was accepted for Donna Summer on Tic before.
John's last spin was essentially the same last spin that ended Frank Dillon's chance to win the 1979 TofC
