I trimmed this video down from 22 minutes. What an amazing tone he gets out of this Les Paul. Looks like he may have borrowed Jimmy Pages outfit too. It would seem the acid is kicking in full force for the drummer too.

    Willie is a picker. not a player. People confuse the two. Trigger is what gives him. His willie sound. With that hole in its body.

    It really shows a lot about lieutenant Leak's character. He was offered the finest the Germans had to offer from food to tobacco to coffee and refused to accept any of it because even though he was from Texas serving with men from New York he grew to respect them to the point where if they couldn't have any he wouldn't have any.

    Willie is a great guitarist, he has his own style that dont always work out and please everyone. But when it does work out its incredible. Willie never has claimed he was a guitar shredder, but Bob Dylan said Willies guitar playing was amazing and I agree.Ricky Nelson had a song that pretty much sums it all up, You cant please everyone, you got to please yourself. Ricky Nelsons Garden Party.

    While the U.S. military’s Code of Conduct didn’t come into being for almost another four decades, the Lieutenant does embody Article III of the Code: If I am captured I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.

    IRL, the Germans made the mistake of not separating the prisoners right away and they were all transported in the same truck. On route, the guard with them did not understand English so it gave them a chance to agree on a single narrative to tell the interrogators. Since they all said the Americans had 1,400 men, the Germans believed it.

      This was one of the last wars that honor and chivalry mattered on a larger scale and it speaks to this particular German officer’s sense of morality that he should treat pow’s with respect and civility. The Germans in ww1 weren’t monsters and ww1’s a bit more complex since it’s morally grey vs. morally grey as the Germans behaved no better or worse than the French, British, and Americans. I think it’s just because people mix up the world wars and think the German empire was anything like Nazi Germany; which they weren’t for the most part. They were no worse than any other imperial European power.

    "You Americans, you always have so much of everything." - Yah, that's thanks to two factors: 1) market capitalism and 2) a spirit of creativity and ingenuity. The way to wealth and prosperity in America is to provide a good or service that others voluntarily exchange money for. And, to stay competitive necessitates innovation. America has this free and independent spirit where you're allowed to make your own life. You aren't restricted by class, race, national origin, or anything else. You're merely limited by your own willingness to work hard to achieve what you desire. This has created our prosperity that much of the world envies.

    • @zachbocchino5501
      @zachbocchino5501 3 года назад

      But back in these days that's not what Capitalism was at all. Actually it was quiet the opposite. So you're statement would be irrelevant in 1917. Granted half of what you said is correct with both early 1900s capitalism and today's capitalism. Competition was and is a big part of our economy. Also I wouldn't say that the world envies how we run out economy. I have a friend who's from Germany and she actually disagrees with how we deal with things in terms with politics and the economy. And to be frank I envy most European nations economics and politics. Wish we were more like them over there.

    • @johnc1014
      @johnc1014 3 года назад

      @@zachbocchino5501 The definition of capitalism hasn't changed. Though, American economics certainly has (to a certain degree). If you would like to explain how the U.S. didn't have this sort of creative, entrepreneurial spirit back in 1917, go right ahead. "I have a friend who's from Germany and she actually disagrees with how we deal with things in terms with politics and the economy." That would be anecdotal evidence. It is still true that millions seek to come to our nation for better opportunities, freedom, and prosperity. "And to be frank I envy most European nations economics and politics. Wish we were more like them over there." Great. So, why are still in the United States? If you envy their ways, you are free to move there.

      Especially in 1917, Germany was starving due to the Royal Navy blockades of German ports and stopping and arresting any ship found to be carrying supplies intended for Germany. Even humanitarian efforts to feed starving civilians. Heck, during Operation Kaiserschlacht some of what slowed down the initial German advance was because starving German soldiers found UK and French storehouses(courtesy of the first overt aid from the USA) full of food(bacon, sausages, fresh produce, bread, eggs, beer, canned food, etc) and were stuffing themselves since they were deeply hungry.
