Hi everyone! I recently (early) retired and thought I would revive this channel. I originally spun up YourWeekEnder a few years back and created a handful of videos, but quickly found out that I did not have the time to create and publish content on a regular basis. Now that I have retired, I thought it would be fun to pick up where I left off, albeit with a different focus. I will be primarily posting nostalgic videos related to the 60's, 70's & 80's (my childhood & early adult years) and other random topics as the mood strikes. I will be sprinkling in updates from time to time on how retirement is progressing. I will also be seeking to do interviews with others to hear about their experiences around these topics. I hope you enjoy the content and thank you for stopping by.

I’m from Dallas, GA (2 miles from new hope) though i wasn’t alive when this happened i’ve heard plenty of stories. My piano teacher’s husband, Allen Griffin, lost almost his entire family. They were in a car at a gas station. Tragically at the wrong place at the wrong time. My great uncle, Steve Jones, actually saw the plane go down as they were driving down Dallas-Acworth highway (highway 92) I believe the SAME supercell that spawned the Bham F5 was what flight 242 flew through. The storm was so intense that it blocked the onboard reflectivity. They flew through the hail core and stood no chance.
Wow! I was alive (12 at the time) on the day of the crash - we lived in Ellenwood, Ga. in 1977. Although my memory is somewhat fuzzy... I do think that my Father took me and the family by the scene ...as I have this vivid memory of looking at the tail section of a crashed airliner as a child. It is somewhat surreal to visit that location even today knowing what happened there - and then to go by the memorial up the road with all of the names. Appreciate you sharing that Josh!
@ Yessir. nowadays its a pretty busy community there with grocery stores, pharmacies and restaurants. Very few people that live around there even know that this happened!

Hey there Anna... That was a terrible day. I want to say that ...I think I remember my Father taking us by the scene while the debris was still in place... (my memory fading fast these days). I did go to the scene in New Hope as I was making this video and included some footage of the gas station and roadway. Thank you so much for sharing your personal connection to this event.
