There's no original ideas in music, just original executions of those ideas. Every chord progression has been done before and there will always be another riff that sounds close to whatever riff you make. Keep on making and enjoying music, fellas!
Oh, I use plenty of original ideas. Between some interesting playing, and modulating into exotic (or just plain made up) scales and back, I can get plenty of original music... it just that you have to listen to it a few times to "get" or understand how it works - same as any "new sounds".

Most songs start this way. It’s your job to make it sound like you. If everything was like this the billboard top 100 would all consistently be lawyered up and during each other for c”copying” the others chord progression. Point is, if you take the one riff and use it as a starting point but the rest of the song isn’t said song you got the riff from, that’s just influence. You’re still you.
Think they are all lawyered up and suing each other tbf mr queefa but we appreciate you further explaining creativity/originality, we shall try this clever approach and make the hollyoaks riff our own!

Simon Mayo's Drivetime show brought me here. The lads phoned All Request Friday, 2 mins from a Suffolk festival they were playing yesterday. Sounded like a nice bunch of guys and Demise is a good song. Good video too. I hope Demise does not always find you in the end FM as I've listened to 3 songs so far and they're very promising. Good luck and I hope that the festival went well.

Yeah, me too. The lads rang into Simon Mayo's show and I decided to check them out too. Glad I did, the songs I've listened to so far have been pretty decent, especially this one and Demise.
