Additive/Subtractive Loft in FreeCAD 1.0 | Basic Introduction
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.21 час назад
This video is a basic introduction to Additive Loft and Subtractive Loft in FreeCAD 1.0. A loft connects two or more 2D profiles by creating a 3D shape. In the case of an Additive Loft, material is added to the model, while in a Subtractive Loft, material is removed. Do you have any reqeusts? Drop your comment and I will surely consider it! :)

2D transient CFD simulation of Drag Reduction System (DRS) using Ansys Fluent. The multi-wing elements are S1223 airfoils. If you have any questions or specific video requests, leave a comment. #CFD #DragReductionSystem #AnsysFluent #Aerodynamics #Airfoil #Engineering #formula1 #formulastudent
Unfortunately, I had some trouble completing the exercise because my FreeCAD did not snap to the created points in the Draft Module. I had to find the "lock" item (the one in the toolbar, not the one on the bottom - the bottom one only toggles the lock item "on"/"off") and enable all the snap features - perhaps "snap center" would have been good enough.
I have had trouble with orientation when using sketches that have multiple closed sections (e.g. 3 circles in each sketch) and I was not able to control which section from sketch 1 would connect to which section in sketch 2. So I reverted back to having a sketch for each section. I guess I should have had watched you video before :-) Although sometime having multiple sections in a single sketch is much more convinient then having to put them in different sketches, especially if you have many complicated references to external geometry that you need to recreate of every new sketch.
Although I am late in the game, I would like you to point out (as you did in your first exercise) that (or if) there are other means to get to the same result. For example in step 3 you used "Sketch & Goove" to get the hole into the body. However I guess you could also have used "Sketch & Hole" or even "Sketch & Pocket". There actually might have been a reason for you, to do it the way you did it - I would be interested to lean about any reasoning why to do it the one or the other way, even if it is "just" by choise.
Thank you. The speed and the description is now much better.
Now I have seen you tutorials and they are very very good! Speed is now ok. It's also very interesting to see a experienced persons workflow, it also contains valuable tips. My tip: In exercise 5, the last thing you did was creating 2 holes with 46 mm between them, and then defined the position of one of the hole to be 46/2 mm from center. That works, but if you change the distance between them, the you have to change values in 2 constrains. Instead it's better to select the centers of the 2 holes and use the constrain symmetry. Then they automagically place themselfs correct.
the way you make is good for a fixed design like you copy on already made blueprint, but center holes apart is better click on both holes and make equal from the center and after this give dimension on one site , that way you design can bem changed after like if you change a distance of a hole from center the other hole from another side gonna be same distance
nice tutorial... couldnt you just shell the pipe?
Great. Thank you very much and Happy New Year 🙂
Thank you! Very helpful!
Very usefull, great job.
Very nice example! And great program lsprepost, didn't know about it.
👍👍👍👍 Thank you.
This is so good! Very good tutorial, well explained and very interesting model. Thank you!
👍
Hi. Thank you very much for your video and for explain how to create such a part. Can't wait next tutorial🙂
Thanks, This’s a great example !
Showing what and how will be done before style is excellent. Thank you
Ty
Il faudrait que vous utilisiez plus souvent la contrainte d'égalité au lieu de mettre plusieurs fois la même dimension.
Great tutorial. I think is better start with a revolution profile (Groove), with dia 80mm, 40 and 18 mm in Just a sketch.
This is excellent. The final part always looks complicated; to replicate the part, the newbie will have difficulty knowing where to start. Breaking this tutorial into steps creates a simplified workflow. This is valuable, the workflow is key to a successful 3D model identifying the most simple steps. Great tutorial and easy to follow.
Displaying mouse and keystrokes would be helpful but great video
Wow impressive coming from ViaCAD 12 and Blender this looks more precise and a bit easier than in Blender 4.3 - Thank you I I will be watching more of your videos.
Make sure the snap endpoint green icon is ON in the Drafts workbench. Otherwise it seems like it snaps but it won't.
great one !
Pushing control to select elements in sketches is not necessary.
And you should use the symmetrical constraint instead of for example 35/2. If you change dimension 35 you have to update also the dimension 35/2.
Excellent tutorial
Very great. Thank you 🙂
Awesome, thanks!
Great for me. Thank you 🙂
Very nice indeed. Could you link to the print?
Great job, nice tutorial
Is it possible to copy sketches and use them elsewhere to avoid creating them twice, as in this case?
Yes, but I haven't gotten that far yet either! There is a clone function...
Fine tutorials !!! 👍👍👍 thank you !
When using the polyline tool, an option box used to appear to input measurements and angles as shown in your video. Now it no longer shows up. Any advice on how to reactivate it?
Thanks for sharing , looking forward for more videos of your teaching .
Started using FreeCad after watching your videos. Looking forward to the next.
not exactly a question about the video itself but where do you find the setting to hide the lines you are trimming? Mine just turn a light green. All the videos i watch it seems everyone else has found this option. For the life of me i cannot find it. I can't find it in the freecad forums or doing a search on the internet. I get way too many irrelevant returns. thanks
Thank you very much for your tutorial! You got new subscriber here.
good tutorial for a good example
Did you use Check geometry with BOP check enabled to determine if the solid is in fact valid? It is very common for the this sort of merged pipes to produce self intersection and other geometry errors.
Nice tutorial; very informative; THX
Hello, I can't seem to snap the polyline to the first point. Can you help me please? TIA, Avri
Hello, once you are in Draft workbench try clicking on "Snap perpendicular" (which has a symbol of upside down T), or "Snap center" (Symbol of a target), or "Snap intersection" (symbol of X). Let me know if that works.
@@ComputerizedEngineering thank you. I did that. it's working now
I struggled with this as well. Look closely at his tool bar in the draft bench. He has Snap Endpoint, Snap Midpoint, Snap Center, Snap Intersection, Snap Perpendicular and Snap Near all activated. Once I copied this, I got it to work. I just need to know how to make trimmed lines disappear instead of turning light green.
thank you
Freehand bspline from curves workbench may also help?
The problem with the freehand b-spline is that it’s really hard to use precisely. It actually has number parameters, but they’re very difficult to use. Probably why it’s called ‘freehand’.
All was going well until the missing feature required using alternative software not available on all operating systems, unlike FreeCAD.
Thanks
DuyQuang Dang's channel just released a video on manual and default fillets. You can use them as chamfers if you leave the curve at zero. The video before is on manual fillets. If you look at about 16:36, you can see the changes in the wireframe that were made. Thanks for the video.
You may be able to create that fillet in FreeCad manually using Surface or Curves workbench.
Too fast for me.😅
Lol, too fast to me also but we can pause the video at anytime Bro
