Will this work if you reinstalled a new body control module? Everything is perfect after the installation and programming but there’s no way to unlock it, even after talking with the manufacturer. So that would help save a little with the other only option, buying a new/used radio.
Yes, I will confirm that this does work. I try with the first radio and it stopped working but the second one I did this too it worked I had to open the door maybe about three or four times.
This is a BS way to unlock the radio. You can look up on youtube, how to reprogram the chip that locks the radio. The programmer for resetting the chip costs about ten dollars on Amazon. I have a 2010 Chevy Silverado that had the battery out for about a year and when I put the battery back in the radio was showing Locked. I'm not sure why that happened because it is the original radio. I bought the programmer and downloaded the software and it was showing the correct VIN. For 2010 it only shows the last six digits of the VIN. At first, I wasn't sure what to do with it, then I took a chance and deleted the VIN numbers, then saved it to the chip and it worked perfectly. I didn't reconnect to the chip, but I assume it wrote the correct VIN back into the chip when I installed the radio.
I have an 07 Sierra, new body, with the exact same looking stereo.. on the outside anyway. Inside however, looks different. It's been locked since i bought the truck. I broke out a chip that i found that had a 1458 around it.. There's nothing on the screen now, not even the "LOC". I BROKADID IT COMPLETELY. Lmao Oh well.. I'd rather buy a replacement stereo from Walmart than give the fucking dealer a DIME.
Replace the eeprom with blank one and it will relearn vin in new eeprom. Or if you have a programmer read the eeprom and sift through code and update the vin. Not all the whole vin is used. You will see it in there. Or you can zero the chip and it will relearn vin. Removing the chip entirely causes so many issues.
My stereo doesn't seem to power on at all. It doesn't display anything. I checked the fuse and all is good there. It's the exact same stereo as you show here. Any suggestions or advice?
Just unhook your battery twice then unhook the radio again while the door is closed. Plug the radio in again & it will reset. Keep trying the same method I just did it.
I removed chip reinstalled but never could get rid of the “no vin” so I searched on eBay for a blank chip that matched the one I took out. it was like $5 all said and done. I soldered it in and it worked perfectly! I couldn’t believe it tbh
I picked one up also and thought it was a plug and play, no dice, the dealer wanted a grip to reprogram and said it may work permanently or MAY not! So removing that chip does or doesn’t work ?
@@mr.c8951 Is there a chip like this in the Navigation/radio version of this head unit? I have one and have theft lock deal told me they couldn't unlock it??
I did that, now screen shows “no vin” for a 2 seconds, then everything seem working alright for another few seconds and then it stops and “locked” appears on the screen. Can you point me in the right direction? Thx
I tried several times before posting video. killing power to the radio and from no vin to working everytime. I would try starting your car once radio works.
ValSus Men : is a waste time to try to unlock those radios I spent a whole Sunday with one of those radios and no luck last resource opened the unit removed the chip and nothing happened still locked good luck
Peter Froustis so do you have to open your door twice everytime just to listen to the radio...or you only had to open twice and now it works without doing that?

question. What radio model is it? the part number of the radio. I have the radio with the word lock.
I recommend you watch jabo the mechanic video. He does a much better job going into detail.

What did you find out? I have the same problem with the same radio
@@ddemier I found out it was very much worth it to go buy a double din pioneer from walmart.
@@ddemier you will also need a mounting kit. (Cheap on amazon)
Once you do this and when you begin to program the radio, does it stay programmed or do you have to repeat the process again?
How did up open it up
Took my replacment factory radio apart and it did not look the same inside. No chip as indicated in that location. Did not work for my 2007 Impala SS
Did you get it to work?
I have a 2006 Chevy hhr and my radio doesn’t work at all I was wondering how do I get it to play
I have the same problem. Checked there is power to the speaker so the head unit is good. The speakers are poor quality.
Just did this on my 08 impala ss, and it work thanks man!
It works 👍🏽
Boa tard tô precisando desse chicote tem como eu conseguir com vc

Does this work for the Navigation radio as well?
@@masonmacleod7569 did you find out yet?

I did like the video my radio just wont boot now :( , i have the same head unit from 2006 car
Same here
I love you men
this method worked out great! thank you so much for the help! definitely didn’t want to pay the dealer to fix it so it saved me some money too!
How do I know what chip is the correct one? My circuit board looks slightly different but is the same style.
Mine was different the chip was on the bottom of the board (underside)
How did you find out
Any update?
Yea looking at the underside of motherboard this is fucking ridiculous no chip 2010 impala radio been thru 3 now
@@pwillbanks1 i have same problem as you But i dint find the chip
What year radio is this?
You can just take the installed radio to the dealer and they'll program your radio for $40
kackster23 called my dealer they told me it was 180$
@@oakleygentry5422 Damn! I guess the price ranges from dealer to dealer. It sucks too because it takes two minutes with their computer.
Try 220 at a dealer here

Can u send me the link
What's the link? Or what was the chip called
MINE IS DIFFERENT FROM THE ONE UR DOING
Ok... Try again when you're out of third grade.
Why do they lock in the first place
Because GM is so stupid they actually think someone might want to steal these junk radios and put them in another vehicle. Absolutely stupid.
No no, not stupid, genius....it's about that $$$
This 100% works like he is describing! Just following his steps and you’re going to be in perfect shape!
Jerome Shorty do you know if it will work on 06 Chevy impala?
What is the chip number?
Or you could just match the radio to the car with a decent scan tool. Yes, you can do it with some scan tools.
Howwww
some guy is saleing a chevy impala with an locked radio
Just did this on my 06 monte carlo. Took about 3 attempts but works fine now.
So every time you want to play the radio you have to open the door several times? or it learns after you do it once and then it’s good?

Did this but it keeps saying no vin after an hour of trying this method wtf do I do now
😂

That only works if the radio belongs to that car I went to the junkyard and picked one radio now is locked on my mini van

If you replace the chip with a blank one it will relearn your vehicle. The chip is $1.20.
Do you know where to get it?
Digi-Key electronics. The part you need is dependent on what kind of radio you have.
What chip? I need a replacement and I'm confused.
Jesus Escobar if your radio is a Fujitsu uplevel model without 6CD changer, the part is a Rohm Semiconductor BR24L32
