    Getting into a specialisation is fairly horrible. This will be one of several exams. In others they will be presented with cases and asked to describe what they would do. They will also have had standard written exams.

    why did he give aspirin for VTE prophylaxis when it should be a coagulation cascade medication? e.g. DOAC/LMWH heparin

      No risk factors for VTE so aspirin used as because at 81 mg it will have least ammount of side effects

    Very informative. I love how they throw curve ball questions and keep the pressure on him constantly. I feel as if he backpeddaled with some of the questions though.. very interesting otherwise

      In order for a doctor to say they are board certified in their area of specialty they must go through the boards, this is an example of a doctor going through the process to become board certified in orthopedics.

      @@jamescharles5907 all surgery is a major intervention. All inductions of anaesthesia are high risk. NPs should have stuck to nursing.

      A full dose aspirin is 325 mg. If 81 mg doses are only available, then four doses are given (324 mg), which is basically the same as a full dose.

    I'm glad Dr. Wright mentioned "standard of care" because he did some MAJOR surgeries for me back in 2011-2014 and in the early years he did NOT have good bedside care. He's come a long way in the 'personability' department himself, which (I can't emphasize enough) is so crucial. I haven't seen Dr Wright in 7 years now because of (lack of) healthcare, but I hope to see him again before he retires. He's the orthopedic surgeon for most of the sports teams in the area (professional and college) so waiting for him before he sees you in the private room is like looking at museum of sports pics and autographs. It definitely adds to his prestige whether it's warranted or not but its some cool stuff to look at Edit: 2014 not 2024 lol.. not a time traveler
