No major skips, basically no Out of bounds

In chapter 10, it's to skip turns, as it's a survive chapter that has a ton of enemies, so not having to fight some of them saves time while not sacrificing too much exp. In Ch.23, it activates the Alexa glitch where as long as she doesn't move, treats her passive where it's starts from where she was at the start of the map, giving her a massive power increase, speeding up the Henry and Empyrean, which iirc has 2.2k and 3.5k HP on Deity respectively (may be a bit more). This is also one of the reasons I opt to have Alexa as the carry off instead of Fenton. Adding on to this glitch, I also won't have to spam Raw Eggs as much due to her more offensive growths, better reliability thanks to a much better dex growth, stronger passive. Also without a ton of statboosters Bianca lasts just until Arrogance before her lowish damage starts becoming a big problem again, and at that point with some statboosters Alexa can solo the right side of Arrogance with the only real threat being the archers. I know a better time is actually possible at this point, arguably 1:03:XX or even lower due to a handful of new skips found, but after eventually breaking the sub-1 hour barrier I took a long break. Doesn't help that some parts of especially Deity% (but this Speedrun in general) you just gotta hope and pray RNG doesn't screw you over, especially considering the fact that some enemies are surprisingly accurate, and crits are everywhere. You're essentially trying to play a more enemy phase game in a game where there are a ton of threats you'd much rather take down on the player phase.

Roy can at least contribute early on but good god after Western Isles he falls off a continent and the Binding Blade + Promotion is just not enough to recover back, and if you get the bad ending he basically doesn't even have a promotion almost

Technology, but Sage is funnier + looks cooler. Tho tbh, if you go Sage than going for Excalibur is actually the better option, as Anima for the most part is stronger than Light magic, and Moulder is the only magic unit who actually gets speed from it without body rings. However, on average Moulder is the one who'll most likely need the double attack cause his questionable combat. I'd say he's probably the best Staff user in the game by a long shot, but he has the weakest combat potential too. Also when not fighting monsters Sage is just better cause overall better magic type and he gets more bulk on promotion (It's a very good chance that he has A-rank staves by the time he promotes)

Of their respective S-ranks in the GBA titles I feel like FE8 did theirs the best by far.

Yea tbh it's pretty hard to get them to fight lol. But dark magic Bishop is probably the only legit way that Gleipnir won't be a liability, being a delete button on monsters

Tbh Marisa sucks regardless but honestly it's not that surprising for her to not hit neither of the str caps until postgame

And if you wanna be serious about using a sword locked unit, if you want a Swordmaster, Joshua is the best choice, you get it in either ch10 or end of 14. If you want an Assassin, you can get Assassin Colm as early as chapter 9/10. Marisa just doesn't have enough going for her statwise, and some people say she's the worst unit in the game, which ngl is absolutely hilarious when Amelia has garbage bases and aside from luck not very good growths.

​@@Wildflower2760i disagree about Amelia is worst unit, if you train her, to become more better unit, i choose Amelia to become General is much suitable unit promote for survive, you want Amelia to become paladin and great knight? That's just worst unit for Amelia, she broken especially luck growth up fast from level up

@@kerryvanskonsol792 I should've specified, I meant Amelia specifically if you don't recruit her in Chapter 9 of Eirika route. She then can be recruited in Chapter 13, which at that point is honestly not worth it at all (unless you tower grind but anyone can be good with that). It's just far too late at that point, as basically you gotta get her to lvl.10 in Ch.14 (you're not doing this in CH.13) and then she'll promote, just to be a lackluster unit who may help defend Eirika but not much else. She'll probably have to early promote at ch.16, or even worse, in the middle of it, and this is the stretch of FE8 that really starts throwing bullshit at you, and at this point most people are gonna have most of their units promoted except the lords. Ch.13 Amelia just comes far too late in the game and basically requires tower grinding. Also the other issue is despite the extra trainee levels, her growths aren't that good. General's bulk leads are negligible, and if you really want axes you'd rather go Great Knight.

Enemy control glitch, use it to get a couple of stones and use them until you can get to D rank dark, and go crazy. Also imo this is the only scenario where Gleipnir isn't absolute garbage thanks to it hitting like an absolute freight train, and I think we can all agree that Artur, Natasha and Moulder having access to a 69 Mt tome against monsters is stronger than Ewan and Knoll have 23 with it

Can't say it's S-tier, but it's way better than it is without it. At least Moulder, Natasha or Artur is dropping a ballistic missile that's probably one tapping every monster not Formortiis (And even then they can nuke the shit outta him)

Most of the time unless he's spd screwed at 20/20 yes, Moulder with both body rings gets the full +5 speed

I mean, if you're playing the game like a "traditional Fire Emblem game", that's true. But there's no reason you should. Especially since complete and utter BS like the Ghost Ship exists. People need to get over the fact that games like this and SoV/Gaiden exist and just enjoy them for what they are. And if they want to play "traditional FE", just shut up and beat 7 on HHM using the same 10 chars for the 9 millionth time.

Honestly, at least within the games I've fully played (all the GBAFEs, FE11 and FE9), I think there are optimizations that every character can have, even if they're not the best. I actually enjoy playing draft runs a ton, because using different units is a great way to explore new potential strategies/routes that you'd normally not ever use. But for worse unit in Sacred Stones, I'd say it's Amelia, but not the ch.9 ones, as then she's easily raisable into an actually respectable unit. I think it's specifically the Ch.13 Eirika version, which comes in the same chapter as Cormag. You're also getting Ewan the chapter before, who has 1-2 range, can serve as a summoner, and if you want rescue shenanigans, Mage Knight, just grind him up in Ch.12 or Tower. At that point, Amelia really wouldn't be worth it, enemies are even more juiced, and very shortly its the desert chapter where unless you're using rescue strats a ton, she might not even do a lot in the chapter. You can potentially have four Paladins at the end of Ch.14, whereas Amelia may not even be promo ready unless you get a good exp setup, and Duessel comes in with Eirika who actually holds up pretty well. Only time I'd recommend waiting that late to get Amelia is for the double speedwing cheese where you steal it from her in Ch.9, then recruit her back in Ch.14

Yea, I'm not even gonna lie Dark magic as a whole is overall pretty bad in FE8 imo, Flux is alright, Nosferatu is alright, everything else is garbage (not including monster weapons). Doesn't help that of the dark magic users you get without glitches, one has garbage combat for his join time and viability is saved by instant promotion, and the other is a candidate for one of the worst units in the game

I would've used supports but ATM I didn't feel like grinding them (and admittedly, they're mostly overkill aside from maybe one case)
