Trout. These imitate chironomids. A trout food source
Mark, what hook is that? It looks like a firehole 718 BL, but that hook looks stronger. I've been tying for the last couple of years on Fulling Mill grab gape hooks, which look similar except for the eye.

First one’s I’ve tied but have not fished it yet. With foam you could tie any color you want and also use felt to add a mottled look .
Great tie, as usual. Sure wish Stillwater Solutions dubbings and chenilles were still on the market. They had some great products and colours in their range.

Is this for Stillwater’s? What species are you targeting? Looks like might work for trout behind spawning salmon
This was for a young girl who likes watching tying videos. I would use it on trout and salmon in rivers
Looks like it would work for coho in frog water.
Have to give that a try, they do like small flies!
I like the look of that pattern. I may tie some of those tonight.

@@florianschmidt3614 size 12. Smaller side for a gomphus dragonfly nymph but you could go to an 8

Nice. They do work. Not my preferred method but I prefer to catch fish and these are day savers
@@markyodogawa I hear you there but when a blob gets you the only fish of the day, it’s hard to leave them on shore. 😂

Thank you. Was actually not thrilled with this tie compared with the one in the image as the fibres were a little kinked up but once they get wet it doesn’t matter.
Always a fun lake.

My preference is fly tying videos with narration, but this seems to work. Nice looking fly.
Thanks. I’m not a fan of long narrated tying videos so I keep mine as short as possible. To each his own.
