Track Yamaha R6 Full Rebuild + First Start | Project YZF R6
As I mention in the video, I recently bought a new bike and I only have room for two in the garage, so one had to go. Therefore, I (reluctantly) had to get rid of my 2004 Yamaha R6 that I had setup for the track. In order to ensure it was in good condition for its next owner, I did a full service/rebuild and filmed the whole process to share the experience.
The bike had been serviced 2 months ago, I changed the clutch, oil + filter, spark plugs and cleaned the air filter. On this rebuild I focused on everything else: fork rebuild, new gaskets, valve clearance check and oil + filter again (I change it after every track day). The whole process took a couple of weeks spread across August, and...

Suzuki DR650 | Full Rebuild Project | Time-lapse + First Start
Просмотров 42 тыс.3 года назад
I was looking for a "Covid project", so I bought this 1992 Suzuki DR650R on the 25th of October. Since I plan on using it, I haven't focused on aesthetics; I just wanted to get it in fully working order. The only reason I had the frame painted was to avoid any rust issues down the line. The whole project took around 10 days spread over a month.

Maybe I missed but have you did something with front fork?
The front fork seals & oil were just replaced by the previous owner, so I skipped them. They were the only thing that worked fine on that bike when I bought it 😅
Nice work, looked like bit of a father son project which makes it even cooler!
Super cool time-lapse! Just got a 1993 dr650. Gotta think "kick through the bottom" and you'll nail it every time. Promptly broke my manual decompression lever after purchasing and won't get the part for another month to Alaska 😂 Had to get real comfy kicking over the beast. Hope this video goes big for you! Very nice job!
My dream bike 😍😍😍
No fork rebuild?
Fork seals and oil had been replaced by the previous owner not long ago, so I skipped on it!
Do you have any websites or videos to help with the top end rebuild?

how much a work like this cost plz
Hi Iswar, it was around €1,300. That includes parts, disposables, and work that I couldn't do myself (sandblasting, painting the frame, honing the cylinder, etc). Regards!
me encanta este video
Great covid job man .... great bike !
Thank you!
This gives me chills...still a nice ride. Im doing my license atm and a 600 dr ore a 650 dr like yours will be my first bike.
good job i like it
Thank you!!
Awesome, mad props! 👍
Thank you!!
Valla currazo cheee!
Is this the same one that had electronic issues on the track?
It is, but that turned out to be just a broken battery cable. Not as bad as I expected haha
@@manuelalarcon4352 bro, seriously loved your Dr650 rebuild. ( I own one, not the kick start model though, Europe only? .. I’m in Australia ). ...That and your track day footage made me subscribe.
@@BadgerMcblasty thank you, seriously! I'll pick up another off-road bike as soon as I find a good deal, and hopefully I'll be going to the track again soon! Regards from Spain!!
@@manuelalarcon4352 look forward to the inevitable engine rebuild on the new purchase! 🤘😉
watching this gives me hope for my Dakar... parked in the shed since 12 years...
Man, this is an amazing bit of footage. Intense.
Thank you!!
Que bien que te lo pasas! 😍😍
Good job! Awesome DR :)
Thank you!
Turned the video off soon as I seen masks being worn in your own garage🤣👌🏼
This is the first time I've seen 2 spark plugs in a one cylinder engine. What is this about?
I have always thought that on large cc single-cylinder engines, the piston is so wide that it needs both spark plugs to ignite the fuel evenly, and therefore have a better burn. But I may be completely wrong!
Amazing, thanks for this video.
Do you know if the plastics for newer dr650 fit on this one's pre 95' ? Mine is 1991
I'm afraid I don't know, but my guess is that it depends on the model; there were several variations of the DR650 (R, S, RSE...) but they didn't change a lot from one year to another. You will probably be able to find something that fits your 91 even if it is from a different year. Good luck!
Hi, how much did it cost to renovate the entire motorcycle? Best regards from Poland :)
Hi Kamil, it was around €1,300. That includes parts, disposables, and work that I couldn't do myself (sandblasting, painting the frame, honing the cylinder, etc). Regards!
@@manuelalarcon4352 Thanks 🙂
Awesome video and nice music There’s one for sale 1991 one that’s why Iam checking out this video thanking about getting it I heard they are true workhorse looking at one for $1.600 but I wish I was mechanically inclined like you guys are 👍46.0 horsepower better than a piece of crap in Amazon that’s like 14 hp know what I mean 🤙🏻
Thank you! These bikes are eternal! As long as you can find spares for it in your country, I would definitely recommend going for it. Even if you don't have much experience on the mechanic side, they are simple to work on and perfect to learn with.
