first ride at the Burgess Hill BMX track on the PJB Mk1 , was good fun but there was a few puddles at the base of the jumps and the track does need a bit of TLC still had a good time and very impressed with the turn out of the bike.

How do you find the boardman so far mate ?
Going really well thanks, haven't been riding for a while due to the weather and other commitments but still love it 👍
Your fork stanchions are rusty how ?
I had to watch the vid again, as the shocks are new and you get some oil residue and the dust stuck to the stanchions that look like rust, I cleaned them down after each ride and all is good plus no more residue 😊
That’s good mate I’m picking up mine Saturday how’s the ride on her ??
Hi guys, anyone answered the 68/113 or 68/118 question yet? I need to replace mine soonish. Appreciate any reply, thanks
Hi Guys, great vid. have the same bike just about to do the same job. is the bracket the 68/113 0r 68/118 before I take it all apart? Much appreciated!
Smooth
Thanks, I haven't been riding much this year and didn't realise how unfit I was 🤦♂️ lucky it's all downhill 😂
Hey man, thanks for the video. Would you recommend them now? Just about to get a set to replace some rockshox.
Hi, thanks for the comment. depends on what sort of riding you are going to do. If you are going for jumps and drop offs I would go for the Rockshox but if you are going more cross country these would do just fine. They are a little bit soft for what I needed and I have not long changed them. Hope this helps?
Are the crank and bracket removal tools universal, or is there a specific size I need? I also have a Boardman Comp
Hi sorry for the delay. the tool I used and if you have the same sort of Boardman I have this is the tool you will need www.wiggle.com/p/lifeline-bb-tool-isis-socket-fitting Hope this helps? 👍
Just bought one of these and just noticed the brakes arent as advertised. Is there much of a difference between the Shimano mt400s and the Tektro m275s?
To be honest the tektro are pretty good, I had them on my old bike and the only thing I upgraded was the front rota to a 203mm as I already had it 👍 Hope this helps?
@@team_mudmunchers Cheers for the reply. Much appreciated. The bike really moves. Very enjoyable ride.
Out of all the bikes I have had this is the best one I've owned, so highly recommend 👍 One thing I would suggest is after a few rides just go over the bolts and just nip them up as my derailer bolt came loose but think that happened on the up lift at Bike Park Wales due to the vibration from the trailer 🤦♂️ Enjoy the rides 👍😁
@@team_mudmunchers Will do.
This is really helpful and very much appreciated, great VT. It would have been nice to see the VT of the original removal of the BB from over the weekend before. If it is anything like my experience today it would have been a video nasty! Removing a BB that's been in for 10 years required a lot of force and would have broken my stand, so had to be done on the ground whilst balancing the bike, which is not that uncommon for BB changes if these are not done regularly (which is of course the moral of the story - dont leave it too late!) I will now need to replace the removal tool and it has rounded off in several places thanks to the force required. Perhaps next time I have an old bike needing a new BB I might pop it down my LBS and it would be cheaper than having to replace the removal tool!
Thank you, yes I did struggle a little bit but didn't think about filming that one 🤦♂️ although in one of my other videos where I was stripping my son's bike down I show the BB removal, that was a tight and had to use a big bar 😂 (camera work wasn't that great though)
Hey man what width are your tires I just ordered some but it says 2.3 and myn are 2.4 so worried they won’t fit 🤣
Hi sorry for the delay, I am running 2.1's so might be a bit of a snug fit in the forks 😬
how have you found them now? am interested in a pair to replace ther oem ones that came on my bike, which are shit. cheers.
Hi yes I have found them to be pretty good so far although I think a little soft, I haven't been able to get out properly as I injured my back in December and I am still recovering so I am itching to get out again.
@@team_mudmunchers thanks dude, i might pull the trigger and give them a go so. sorry to ehar about the back injury, as someone who broke their back on a motorcycle couple eyars ago, i can relate!
Ah wow sorry to hear that hope you are recovered now? Yes give them ago for £55 (at the time I bought mine) can't really go wrong 👍
@@team_mudmunchers ah yeah, recovered fine now thanks, no more motorbikes, so trying to get into a bit of MTBink at 40! gonna pull the trigger on them, thanks mate.
@@copeyhagen4249 good to hear that bud, welcome to the 40s club I'm 6 years in already 😂
It runs down the inside of the rear disc cable
Why didn't you use the dropper cable routing that enters at bottom of seat tube?
I used my old dropper post from my old bike that one didn't have an internal channel for routing the cable so had to buy an external cable dropper post at the time. I will get around to getting a new dropper post and use the internal routing 👍
@team_mudmunchers nice to see a reviewer actually riding!!
Thank you and I can't wait to get out more soon, just recovering from a back injury from work back in December.
@team_mudmunchers sorry to hear that. Had all my bikes stolen the other week
Ah that's crap! Sorry to hear that hope you get a new bike shorted soon and get back out on the trails 👍
Excellent video!! You can run the dropper post cable underneath the down tube and up into the seat post. There is a little nipple just above the bottom bracket for the cable to go into.
Hi thank you for your comment means a lot 👍 I did see that there was a gromit for a cable routing so when I get a new dropper post I will get one with a cable that comes out of the bottom as I already this one from my old bike and the cable comes from the top 😁
What size did you go For mate? I’m 6ft and might order the XL
Mine is a XL 20" and I am 6'2 and still have the saddle up quite high so that so be fine for you 👍 It's that best bike I've owned so far 😁
Great video. cheers from Nova Scotia , Canada
Thank you, will be carrying on with the build soon, but it too wet in the UK at the moment to spray the frame, fingers crossed for this week 🤞
bike looks mint 👍
Thank you rides really well too 😁👍
I have the 8.8 mtr and the cassette was loose from factory, my dropper cable snapped 1st use, my rear shock came with a scratch on the sleeve. Finally now it rides ok.
ah that must of been a right pain especially on the first outing! glad you have got it sorted now. did you take it back?
@@team_mudmunchers I take it back, after cleaning it today I noticed i have the tektro hd-m285 brakes from the 8.6, it should have shimano mt200. Both budget brakes but performance is night and day, I've message tech support hopefully they can send me some brakes that I actually paid for lol
@@team_mudmunchers and no i didn't exchange the bike, i took it to the nearest halfords, they fixed the dropper cable but told me they could do nothing about the scratched shock as "it might have been me" even though I showed them a pic in the box. I did get a 10% refund though after messaging tech. I had to buy the specific tool to tighten up the cassette though. And now the brakes are the wrong spec lol. Absolute shocking service so far from halfords mate.
That's not good and poor customer service in my opinion, I know it's not much but least you got a bit back. Must admit I have the Tektros on mine too and should of had the Shimano but I have had the Tektros on my specialized Rockhopper and never did anything to them in the 7 years that I had it so I left it as is. When I bought my Boardman Halfords said did I want them to build it? I just laughed out loud and said no it ok I'll build it myself 😜🤣
@@team_mudmunchers to be honest I opted to have it delivered and ill build it myself, but it came mostly built, I only had to fit handlebars, wheel and seat and pedals, you would think the cassette would be 40Nm from factory tho, it even says on the locking nut, 40Nm lol. I have no issue with the tektros they do squeal a bit tho, whereas the shimano are silent in most conditions. Its a great bike for the price though, its the best bike I've ever owned, but also the most expensive, I just wished they got it right the first time. As you say, halfords are terrible.
ρ尺oΜ𝐎ᔕᗰ 😬
What's the difference between the 8.8 and 8.9 ? I've just bought 8.9.
As far as I know the 8.9 has different shocks and better spec components plus a really cool colour frame 👍 apart from that I am not 100% sure
Its also a tad lighter. I have the chance of a cheap 8.8 but was looking for a 8.9 has nearly identical parts. so not sure why its lighter
If you are tall the 8.9 does not come in an XL frame =/
@@christopherflynn843 I did not know that thanks you for the info
Nice in depth video, I was going to go for the 8.9 but cost is a factor. An alternative is the voodoo Bizango Pro but not in stock till September. Thanks for convincing me.
Glad to be of help and thank you for the comment 👍 I have now covered over 300 miles and had no issues at all and even the shocks have stopped leaking grease residue so that's a big bonus 😁
What's the bottom bracket size?
Hi the bottom bracket is a FSA Power Drive BB-8420 BC1. 37x24T. 68 Hope this helps.
Hi! There's still size to choose of this bracket; 73mm/118mm or 68mm/118mm I'm not sure which one I should use?
Just bagged one on market place for £200 like new condition, any good picking up this weekend ?
Is a great bike and good choice. I changed my wheels as when I got it the wheels didn't match and played havoc with my OCD and had to change them so thought why not get white ones. Enjoy
@@team_mudmunchers update got the bike today , I seem to be having trouble with the quick release front wheel , seems to not be able to be set without slight play side to side once locked in ??
Could be the bearing in the hub worn or could be the skewer worn or may be the wrong skewer? I know the back and front skewers are different lengths.
@@team_mudmunchers thanks for reply I’ll look into it let you know 👍
