100 plus years ago, the easiest way to put big stones on a wall was to pack snow next to it and slide the stone on a sledge to the top and roll it off. Winter was the easy time to move rock. When doing labor work for months, many guys try to amuse themselves by playing with patterns. Probably not ancient.

RIP Jimmy! You are missed by many!! This wall is a great wall for "symbols". I was able to examine this wall with Jimmy when I visited him up there in 2018. Not only did this wall have an effigy of the serpent, which Jimmy and I determined they were built in there and not only that something that looked like a Maltese cross made of two split stones and an cubic like center. I wanted to go back up there to visit him but sadly he passed before I got a chance to. I hope whomever now holds his property is not going to damage the walls. That would be a sin, the wall up near his house tells a whole story.

Well crap. New England artifacts for the most part suck. I think it's because we have/had sucky material to work with. They find better points EVERYWHERE outside of New England. G10s I don't think so. It'd be great to know the population structure of the whole country. I'm afraid I can't believe all of these effigies were crafted by Man. Some yes but not all. @facesinthestoneshorts Yes I have photos. Many of the images are a bit unsettling and others are benign like children's faces. I have a piece of quarts with what I think is a Pharaoh's portrait on it. Other pieces are telling a story. I have several depicting the same story of things that look like Ewoks on the back of a dragon and the entire pieces appears to be crashing down from above. Maybe a creation story?

I have always collected rocks,stones, etc. A few years ago, while exploring a riverbed, I collected a heavy stone, very heavy, for its size. I thought it may have been a "hammer stone" used by native Americans, and I took it home. I set it on the table, next to my chair, where I sit each day. I knew the stone was granite, but was curious about its weight, so one day, while observing the stone, I noticed, something strange. I saw, a number, a number "2", perfectly shaped, on the stone. I could not believe it, so, I took the stone, out into the sun. But in direct sunlight, the number was gone. I thought, I must have been mistaken. I took it back, to the shade, and I again could see the number 2. So I looked around the stone, and found several 2s , and even a "3", this #3, is from a doubled "2". The numbers are formed from quartz, and are natural formations.

I got some really beautiful blue quarts specimines in vermont out of a road cut 6 miles outside of bennington, there is a natural spring that runs right in front of the road cut, and there were pieces of blue quartz in the spring water that resembled small pieces of ice it was soo cool!
