Boogiepop and Others Novel Review

This is a video version of a several month old review I had posted on my blog. The script has been tweaked slightly, but it is otherwise the same. Why I Dropped Infinite Dendrogram After One Episode
Просмотров 4,8 тыс.4 года назад
Don't actually drop shows after one episode if you haven't read the source material. The three episode rule is always golden. This was just an exception. Also, sorry for the late video and sorry it had to be negative. I think I was a bit too harsh in some of the comments I made in this video. The script was written and the audio was recorded weeks ago as a simple reaction to the first episode. ...

"Meant to Love" | Kokoro Connect Book Two: Kizu Random Review

We continue our readthrough of Kokoro Connect with the second book, a personal favorite of mine! Kizu Random focuses on Inaba Himeko, who is my favorite character (and wife). This novel expands on every concept that Inaba was given in the previous novel but given its own time in the spotlight. To aid Inaba in overcoming her extreme introvert problem, a surprising and interesting new affliction ...

CHAOS;CHILD is Coming to Steam and You Should Get It!

Back in 2017, pqube released CHAOS;CHILD and it flopped. It truly and honestly didn’t deserve it. CHAOS;CHILD is the best entry in its franchise, topping STEINS;GATE. Not only did it deserve to succeed, YOU there deserve to play such an amazing game that honestly touched me the deepest any story ever has. The game has changed how I look at fiction. Even if you don’t feel the same intensity abou...
A Brief History of Boogiepop Media

Why You Should Read Light Novels
Просмотров 34 тыс.6 лет назад
What are light novels? Why are they called light novels? And why should you read them? These are just a few of the questions many people ask me. When it comes to this medium I absolutely adore, I'm willing to work on a video as big as this for my very first real video. And so after a month or so of grinding this one out up until the deadline right before University starts for me, the answers ar...

I would say school makes reading but light novels are interesting and don’t have the problem of western books which take 5 pages describing trees

I didn't know that Overlord avoided the SAO comparisons, but some potential reasons could be that the game elements are played way down after the first couple of episodes, and there's some hints that Ainz might have actually died while playing the game, keeping it firmly in the Isekai genre but adjacent to other VRMMO anime. I might actually put it in the same camp as Grimgar, which still has much more emphasis on game-like mechanics, but is way more immersive than any other modern Isekai I've watched. Honestly, Overlord feels much more like someone being reincarnated into their D&D campaign than a VR game.

Then, I discovered them😂 I mainly buy from BookWalker and so far, I have really come to enjoy the medium. Thanks

Boogiepop and Others 2019 is one of the worst adaptations of all time. Vol 1-3 are all adapted within only 3 episodes each and the show´s budget is non-existent. The updated setting that ended up making tech wizard Nagi pointless and the characterization/plot changes + censorship are the cherries on top. Who knows what went wrong at Madhouse but they whiffed it bad. 4/10

You’ve convinced me to give this a read. For that, you got a new Sub. I haven’t watched the anime, but the trailers I’ve seen made me pass on it then since it didn’t grab my interest. Now that I’ve been in a binge on LNs/WNs for the past few years, I happen to come across this title again and decided to read the synopsis from Jnovel… boom gained my interest straight away.

Good video but...Harry Potter was by no means the beginning of more fantastical reads geared towards kids and young adults. It's just the phrase "young adult" when concerning BOOKS didn't exist until around the late 90s. There's Narnia. Charlie and the chocolate factory. Wizard of of. Alice in wonderland. Goosebumps. All way before HP. But having listened a second time I think you were trying to say it started the "young adult" writing craze which yes it certainly did. And thanks again this video is great for someone still very new to light novels.

Infinite Dendrogram will be the worst isekai anime of 2020. Along with SAO is a dumpster fire isekai anime of 2012. #InfiniteDendrogramSucks Just go out and watch Log Horizon, it's fricking good, and it's even much better than Infinite Dendrogram. Log Horizon is good for us, and Infinite Dendrogram is bad for us, right!? Right!?

I only watch the anime. I like Boogiepop Phantom more than Boggiepop Warawanai. The dark tone, music, mystery, and plot twist just perfect. Boogiepop Warawanai is pretty good, the mystery and music is there, but i dont feel the dark story or any twist in it.

I watched the anime and then read the LN. It was quite random. I am an avid novel reader but I had yet to read any LNs. After watching a Blond Kirito in another SAO trope anime. I randomly stumbled upon the link for the LN and thought I should give it a try. And honestly, that was one of the best decisions I've taken on a whim. The LN is a far cry from what the anime was, so much so that they even seem to be different genres. And you've perfectly rounded up everything wrong with the anime. I assume you didn't watch the anime, so I'll tell you the fight with the Gouz-Maize, Rook's upgraded equipment, Ray's plot armor, Shu's strength, Franklin's motives, and many other things that seemed settings made so much more sense after reading the LN. One thing that makes ID ID is the fact that you can literally take any of the cast members, major or minor, and yet following their adventures can make it a whole different and enjoyable LN series. The world of ID never seems empty, things just don't happen for Ray's convenience, and neither any Master nor tian feels background characters. All of them feel human and certified protagonists of their own epic stories in ID. I'd say this video perfectly sums up why many people are disappointed with LN adaptations in general. Great video, dude.

      @vanrex7682 Год назад

Yup the anime makes you assume he’s just Kirito 3.0, but Ray is in a way the complete opposite of Kirito. Also ID is basically an unhyped SAO, that is made so, that it actually makes sense not just from the game and players aspect, but from the whole reason the “Game” exists. Like the Master characters of which most are supposed to be your everyday gamers (e.g. Logan is literally you’re average GTA online kiddo, B3 is also just your typical competitive gamer). Ofc there are people who are rather psychotic like Fran rather than just naive like Logan, but they’re not some trained sociopathic elite soldiers who are coincidentally trapped into a death game with your MC just to serve as antagonists - the MC forgets about after defeating once, just for the author to notice how stpid this whole thing was and draw them back several seasons latter after the main story just obliterated itself with the worst kind of conclusion…. Fking SAO… I just remember Fran being told by ARICA that she’s not very French like though she literally behaves like a toxic French LOL player including all the insults lmao.

I got around to watching Boogiepop Phantom despite not making a review of it, so I thought I’d share my thoughts here: It owned so hard. It perfectly captured the feel of the novels and had the balls to use the format of the novels despite it being an anime, which-surprise-ended up working. Big time. It’s officially sanctioned fanfiction (non-derogatory) in the best way possible. If you like it, read the novels. It still kinda surprises me that it’s such a classic for anime-onlies because I feel like I wouldn’t have understood anything without the first novel. Some of its horror is straight up focused on twisting your knowledge of Book 1 into an uncomfortable shape, so I can’t imagine how that would hit without that knowledge.

Thank you, everyone. This video continues to gain views despite how old and flawed it is (see other comments) and I’m really glad. I even still gain subscribers! TL;DR - I haven’t found the drive to make videos in a long time. In the meanwhile though, I have been at twitter.com/MaturePurple and I have started streaming occasionally on my Twitch at twitch.tv/maturepurple so please, please follow those if you think about subscribing. I may come back someday, but I can’t tell you when or with what. Today I logged into this account for the first time in literally two years. I opened my watch history to find I had not watched anything on this account since 2018, back when I graduated high school. A few months ago, I graduated from university summa cum laude. It’s felt like an eternity, and it may as well have been-given the speed at which everything moves these days. One last thing! - The latest video on the channel is just a rant I made a while back. I know it made some people mad but I stick by what I said. When I first posted it, I ended up privating it because I was afraid the like-dislike ratio would ruin me (lol) but my best friend liked the video so my last act before leaving to focus on school was to make it public again. So yeah, hit me up on twitter!
