Gotta ask: how many pedos can fit through the machine on the back?
Better shocks and mounting the clasp higher would be a big help. Also, a little more weight on the nose to get that ass up would help too. If it's an automatic transmission, it's not gonna like that line of work, but with a manual transmission, it's just fine.

MT & 40 badically same tractor aren't they?
@bl688 it's closer to a 420 but yes basically the same
This series was very helpful to see what's involved in doing steering clutch/final drive work on a 450. I have two 450C track loaders that I'm trying to decide what to do with. One with stuck engine. If I part them out, are parts worth much? Have one good undercarriage, and a cable winch with logging arch. If I spent some time I might be able to make one running tractor out of two, but I'm not sure it would be worth the time. I could do the work myself if I decide to repair one machine....don't think It wouldn't be cost effective to hire repairs done.
@d6c10k4 parts are of premium price so it is worth parting out. Not to mention that winch is $$$ sitting waiting to jump in your pocket!
We always had problems with blowing head gaskets on the 16s.
@ralphnorris-vk8ff she's down one cylinder so that might be one this one issues
Are they wet or dry clutch in the 450BC
@jrneedham4140 I'm so sorry I'm just now seeing this. Dry
I have an old Yanmar ym2000 that needs work, could t get in touch with tractor town. Replaced battery a few weeks back, put everything back in place started up & ran but the alternator started smoking, took off the positive cable the smoking stopped. @thomasrivers7585 lots of research on the ol' interwebs and crossing part numbers. Keep in mind the people who make that sensor put there name and part number on it.

Otis, did you see my second question: Can I access the 7/16 bolt going into the spline (access through the peep hole) by removing the main plate under the battery compartment? That 7/16 bolt is broken off and is allowing movement on the shaft. Some way I need to get it out so it can be properly installed with a new bolt. Is accessibllity possible once that large cover is removed if not open to suggestions.
@marvinjohnson2463 I'll try to find out and get back to ya
Otis, now that the final drive is removed send me a picture where that 7/16 bolt is located ….from the back side of the final drive. Thank you for the video, very helpful!
@marvinjohnson2463 I would but this video is a year or so old
Question: the bolt that you used a 7/16 wrench on through the “peep hole” that you in UNtightened that tightens into the grove that hold the
Sorry posted before I wanted…..continuation …Shaft in place. I have a situation where that head is twisted off. How do I get to that bolt to back it out and replace with another bolt? Thank
@marvinjohnson2463 I've had them broken before, and you've got to get a slide hammer to hammer out the shaft. It's not easy but can be done. Once you hammer the gear out and pull the final, you can repair the broken lock bolt.

I'd love to own one with a winch, and blade. an ol MC or 40 model was the first dozer I ever ran and would love to have one to add to my ol equipment roster, I own a ol allis hd5b but she's been heavily modified I use for my business and could use something a little smaller and one a little bigger funny enough

Are you confused with a licensing agreement between IH and Mahindra to build the tractor for the India market in India (Similar to Massey Ferguson & Tafe)? Some internet history shows parts from England shipped to Louisville KY for tractor assembly. Any IH workers out there from the Louisville plant?
No sir, ih contracted Mahindra to make all casting and associated parts in 1963 I think. To be partially assembled in England and was then shipped to Louisville for final assembly. These castings were used for many year and then sold to Mahindra for their branded tractors sometime in the late 80s early 90s.
Tractor fail or lug nut fail? Shabaura tractors were the best coming out of Japan in the 70-80’s time frame. Ford /New Holland should never have severed the relationship with them.
I love my old ford 971
Just had Diesel on my L3901 tonight. That is NOT where the connector is. The connector is the BLACK 4 pin connector to the left of those two. It matches diesel connector 3151/T55. Oddly enough the tractor I am working on is also having injector issues. I was able to do injector kills, read the coding on the injectors and verify the high pressure pump was working fine.
That is one beautiful tractor
These were the best of the 7xxx series. 268 vs 256 engine, better hydraulics and no Load Monitor sensing. Load Monitor needed better flow to be a great feature which ironically the later 10 Series II had. Got rid of the springy balls on the ramp actuator in the drive line for Load Monitor as well.
didn't know they made a high crop 4020 neat
The 3010 H was also popular
Never run one but those fords 7610's seem to run forever and are very simple

Is there suppose to be hydraulic oil in the steering clutch compartments? Mine is full to the top on both sides and leaking out the top. The last entry in the mech logs before i got it at auction is" hyd oil leaking into clutch. I assumed they meant the main clutch. I did see an early service bulletin On the 80's 450c something about making the clutches a common sump because of a hose that leaks? I have been looking for an oldtimer mech that knows the 80's 450c inside and out. So i could pick his brain. They are all retired :(
If it is a 450c it has wet clutches earlier models were dry clutches. The dry sump does get water and or oil in the case and deere says some fluid in those pumps is normal
