Wow. I really enjoyed this. I own a Gibson Nick Lucas 12 fret Brazilian.

I did some work at the Santa Cruz shop when they moved to Harvey west. Eric poulsen shaped the necks back then. He build me an my wife a guitar in that shoo for our wedding.

What is authentic when each sound from these models only differ in subtle ways y considering strings used ( new or broken in);y copied construction from the originals were not really that sounding great relatively speaking 😢… but i need my last guitar a regular D18 or D35🎉 maybe this coming year…iam old😂btw…imo

Fine playing! Great sounding mandolin with a deep tone.

Just think if they had sold in the 60's for what they do now the musicians who made the music couldn't have gotten them and they wouldn't be worth what they are now. Shame the today's musicians who are like the ones who made them what they are will probably never have one.

My 2 cents might be a tad simplistic, but I find A style mandolins have more 'chime' - or ring to them, whereas the F style mandos are more punchy, with less 'sustain', for want of a better word. I think that's why A style (to me) sound better for Celtic (Irish) tunes, and F style is better for Bluegrass (American) tunes. I'm Aussie btw, so hearing both from the outside. Anyone else hear that or is it just me and my imagination?

The headstock on Carolyn's guitar looks like that of a Euphonon. This would be the first time I have seen a Maurer with that style. Maybe it is a hybrid of the two, or a one-off?

Both are beautiful guitars ! Best of the best ! I prefer the D-42 snowflake inlays.

D-41 guy here...

The D-41 has a satin finish on the neck and the 42 has a full lacquer finish. Might not mean much to some folks but I much prefer the 42 for that reason (along with the beautiful vintage style inlays).

P-90 sounds can remind me of a good PAF Humbucker. There's a bit more clarity and sting than let's say Gibson's 57 Classic Humbuckers, but more noise too.
