What are long hauls? What would you say is so big that the tracking would be a real headache?
What’s the lake called?
Fishing is an age-old pastime that offers a unique blend of mystery, wonder, and pleasure. The thrill of casting a line into the water, knowing that anything from a small catch to a trophy fish could be on the other end, provides an element of suspense that's hard to match. Each fishing trip presents a new adventure, with diverse environments-from serene lakes (lacus tranquillus) to roaring rivers (flumen violentum)-each bringing its own set of challenges and rewards. The pleasure of fishing lies not just in the catch itself but in the tranquility of the experience: the gentle ripple of water (undulae leviter), the quiet solitude, and the connection with nature. As the Roman poet Virgil said, "Optima dies... prima fugit" ("The best days are the first to flee"), capturing the fleeting yet precious nature of these moments. Whether you're a seasoned angler or a casual hobbyist, fishing offers a rich tapestry of experiences that make each outing both a personal and universal joy. Shout out to you my nigga, my nigga
@@toddfullerlove6821 this is the single best RUclips comment I’ve ever read
We’re u from/ where do u fish
What size chatter bait would you recommend?
@@lxAngelsJourneyxl I prefer a 3/8 oz for most situations
Not a flat head no under bite.
I didn’t know that was a way to tell. Thanks for the info 👍🏻
@@ReelHookSetOutdoors No problem. I caught a few that yellow and wondered myself it is the ONLY reason I know.
Are you fishing at day pond
Are you going to add a trolling motor to it
@FishingWithDummies78 I've thought about it but I think I decided not to for now. Mainly cause it's so light and easy to paddle. Eventually I'll get a bigger yak for larger bodies of water and probably put a motor on that. Plus I don't want to worry about having to register it. Not a bad idea though.
Good videos man , great tips
Thanks! Hope it helps.
that lake looks low...suppose its that time of year
@@DuBryFishingHQ yes sir it is. I'm ready for fall fishing and cold mornings in a tree stand
@@ReelHookSetOutdoors agreed! Although im a spot and stalk type of guy myself
I like your videos
Thank you!
Thanks for your service
That’s some muddy water
@LL-wz7je yeah unfortunately... it's still the same too a year later
Pretty cool yak. I’m thinking of this or the mode110
Both are good. 110 is probably better, never tried it
love finding fellow south dakotan fishing guys!!
And remember folks....if someone sees you have a cheap rod and reel or a ugly hand me down tackle box and says anything like...aww you aint catching nothing with that or you need this 1k dollar combo to catch real fish....they aren't real fishermen or anyone you need listen to period! Money doesn't make you a better fisherman. Its the same for everything else in life.
That’s right!
No one ever says that.
@@wundo9372I’ve had one instance..
any pole it self doesn't catch the fish lmao it's the bait and how you fish... unless u have a kids pole and it snaps with a bass lol
I enjoy fishing I started around three years old but now ten years later I’m starting to do stuff on my own thx for the vid man I’m trying to get a channel started about tips and tricks for fishing. that’s a sub
That’s awesome man! Good luck on your RUclips journey. It’s a lot of work but well worth it. You got a sub from me as well
I have one of those jigs in a sexy shad color. Really nice presentation

What size chatter bait?
@@blimeylimey13 I prefer 3/8 oz. That’s a good happy medium, but doesn’t hurt to buy different sizes
Guitars, guns and fishing oh yeah 😊
My favorite things!
So for the $500 price point is this the best option?
@@okay7464 I would say so. Been fishing it for a while now and still feel that way
@@ReelHookSetOutdoors have you put a trolling motor on or thought about it? I saw the 110 model has a mount spot already but it’s $800 and the 100 is $550 rn. I’ve seen some bulky ones that go in the rod holders that I might do
@@okay7464 I’ve definitely thought about it but haven’t pulled the trigger yet, mainly because I want to get a pedal drive kayak eventually for the bigger lakes that I fish. I’m really just saving my money for that instead. I think the rod holder ones you’re talking about would probably work good for it though.
@@ReelHookSetOutdoors okay thanks man I live in MN tons of lake I’m trying to get in the small spots everyone overlooks because was have so many big lakes haha
@@okay7464 that’s a great strategy! One that I use myself
Why would bobbers not be good for bass fishing? I catch bass all the time using live minnows under a bobber. Last week me and my boy were out for almost two hours and could barely let the line sit in the water without something grabbing it.
It’s not that people think they’re not good, it’s that fishing with artificial lures is really popular (and doesn’t require a bobber), so you’ll hear people say it’s like cheating. I don’t necessarily feel that way though, it just depends on how you like to fish
@@ReelHookSetOutdoors ok well that makes sense. I get artificial lures being popular because I enjoy using them too. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone refer to bobber fishing as cheating. I mean really they are two completely different styles of fishing.
@@Hometown_Outdoorsman I agree with you 100%. That’s why I included them cause they come in handy
Thanks so much for the review man! Glad you liked them. Congrats on the new baby as well.
@@thebraveangler no problem! I enjoyed doing it. Keep up the great work. I definitely want to try some of the other baits

@@logantraxler7 thanks! I appreciate you!
I was actually trying to decide between this kayak and the ascend 10T, great to know you had both, do you have a preference? Which one paddles better? I tend to prefer the quality and looks of the pelican so far. Ive never been on either in the water.
I’d say they paddle about the same, but in reality, the Pelican is more stable being that it’s 34” wide vs the ascend that’s 31”. You can actually feel the difference. I can stand in my pelican but couldn’t stand in the 10T. Also, the pelican is 10 pounds lighter and more durable. I 100% prefer the pelican. One thing I do miss about the 10at though is the built in hatch and cup holder that go right in front of the seat, but that’s something you could DIY on the pelican as well.
My TOP 3 summer baits can be viewed here for the 2024 summer season. These are all included in the this kit 😉 Watch the video here ruclips.net/video/lmYHmum7SPQ/видео.htmlsi=T4-zbK_oGG-3ZUIJ
Great video. Sometimes with the punching rig I like to put the bobber stop about 6 inches above the hook so that way the weight can slide some. It sometimes helps with the plastics action while sinking and it can also help keep the bass from using the weight to shake the hook if they aren’t hooked properly
Good point. I should’ve added that. Thanks bro 👍🏻
I never bring my own pliers. But I’ve also seen you hook more people than fish so I also don’t trust you
lol I don’t trust myself either
I'm not real comfortable standing on mine
Seems like it’s subjective to the person. Lots of guys are and some aren’t. It’s definitely not the most stable yak on the market, but I think it’s pretty good for the money.
I was thinking of making some side floats to stable it.
Awesome channel you got here, from your videos I wanna say your a dad and how it looks your being one heck of one, keep it up!
Thank you! Will do. I appreciate you watching
@@ReelHookSetOutdoors thanks!
Nice catch 👍
Thanks!
Have you had this out in more gnarly weather? Where I live (mountains, this town is famous for its wind) it can get nasty in a heartbeat. I actually got caught in a big wind storm last week in my Ascend H10 and ended up going for a swim because I couldn't stop paddling long enough to bail, but it was keep paddling and taking on water or get beaten up on a rock levee. I wonder if this is stable enough to handle 1-2ft swells and +30mph wind. I have the H10 up for sale/trade, and one person has offered a Catch 100. I'm tempted. I like the weight, I have a bad back and my other kayak, a Lifetime Stealth, is getting to be a bit much to car top. I also like that there's nothing in the leg area, since I fly fish and don't want anything in there for the line to get caught on.
I’ve taken it out in 15 mph wind and it did okay. The problem is it’s lighter so it blows around easy. Bottom line though is that you need something light enough to car top. Doesn’t matter either way if you can’t get out on the water. I personally wouldn’t be comfortable in 30 mph winds with it though. I love the kayak but I’m not sponsored by pelican and won’t tell someone to use it in a situation I don’t think would be safe. If I were you, I’d find the heaviest, most stable yak you’re comfortable with and can car top. I used to live in Montana 10 minutes from the Missouri River by the way, so I get it… Oklahoma has some nasty wind too, I just do my best to get out on better days
@@ReelHookSetOutdoors Thanks for the info. Yeah, that's just how the weather is here. It can be a picture perfect day, next thing you know you're being blown all over the place for twenty minutes, then it's perfect again. My Lifetime Stealth can handle it, I've ridden those out anchored several times, but the H10, being a sit in, basically a canoe, was a problem.
It must be nice to have a dad
Haha!
This is so wholesome made my day. "I get candy" 😂😊
I made a bet with him that if he caught the biggest fish I’d take him to get candy haha
Nice work!
Thanks!
Man why did a little kid get that close to my pb he didn’t get more but still
Haha you coulda showed him how to throw em back it bit easier
I know! I’m always telling him to do it gently but I think he gets to excited and forgets
Hey I’m just getting into bass fishing any tips or ways to help me because every thing is just overwhelming for me and nice catch by the way 👍🎣
My top 3 tips are this: Learn different techniques one at a time. Start with something easy like a Texas rig. RUclips is a great place to start. Practice casting until you can cast far and accurate. Learn about fish biology and how they act in different situations. Ie what they eat in a certain place, where they live, how deep they are in different water temps, spawning cycle, etc…. I have a good video called how to build a beginners fishing kit if your curious about what gear to have. Hopefully this helps, and welcome to the best hobby on earth 👍🏻
