@@apmramos you’re totally right! I know that roller coaster of emotions too well, 🤣 In this case we didn’t bring a drift sock so the lines were running close together and I was distracted with family stuff in the background so wasted one of two drifts and only had a small window of time before we had to get the boat back in motion. When I’m trolling and catch a small fish immediately as the first line goes out I think “oh no, going to be a day of brining in dinks!”

@@Bummy425 Brian, it was lumped in with gas and I didn’t double check the price per gogg. They’re expensive enough I only bought 6, ha ha. The days of me wasting two dozen are over! Throwing three out of six back because the wife is getting sea sick isn’t bad. It was weird not spending an hour at the filet table in the dark when we got back. Silver lining for not catching any meat fish!

@@Bummy425 I’ll post the link for the strips below. I have better luck kite fishing versus trolling in January. That said, I’ve caught plenty of good fish trolling in January, I just get less bites. @@Sideswipe41313 I like the 6.75” for my long planer hooks and the shorter strips for my smaller trolling lures. I think most people like the longer strips but I don’t like a lot of “meat” hanging off the back of the hook for short strikes.

@@TruthSeeker-fw9ps I bought plenty at full price myself. They last longer than regular Bonita strips and I don’t worry about opening a pack of strips towards the end of the day and not using them all, ha ha. Let me know what size and color you find the most success with!

Hey Davy, I upgraded to the 30W Avets for all the basic trolling rods. 50W Shimano's pull the planers. Last year I pulled the planers with the 30W Avets without any problem. I just beefed up the spread for that "just in case the 60 pound wahoo finds me" scenario.

Thanks for that support Pedro! I've had times where the camera is pointing towards one side of the boat while I'm bringing the fish in on the other side. Didn't lose the fish...but didn't record it for you guys to enjoy either. I think someone that wants to learn will be happy to spend the day on the boat "working for free." I know I would have done it a couple years ago when I didn't have a clue what I was doing.

@@g2pangler yeah I'm sure there's a bunch that will take the opportunity. And the free goes both ways i.e. go out, spend an awesome few hours, catch some fish, learn... for free! Nothing better.

Hey David, I use the 5.5" on the long planer hooks. The longer you go the more action the tail gets but I worry more about short strikes and I like my hook up ratio on the 5.5".

@@CaptainBurns2024 good call out! I did have someone with me that day filming, not fishing so he would have stopped the boat and came back for me. I do plenty of days solo with nobody else and on those days I’ve got on an inflatable PFD, Bluetooth engine kill, and a PLB and cell phone on me. I should have made that clear in this video. I’m not perfect by any means but do try to model safety best practices where I can. Thanks for watching and caring!
