Even as a young child Marine brat I learned that Navy Senior NCOs don’t get to that rank without being squared away. As a young Army Nurse Corps Officer, the best advice I got was “if in doubt simply seek out a NCO and ask.” Joe still epitomizes that quality of mentorship. As a rookie in the VFW who found myself “Commander” without having a clue, Joe’s quiet professionalism once again kicked as he guided the “2LT”. Joe brings great credit to all whom he mentors. He still embraces the NCO ethos.
