What killed it for me is the COT and the stages. No strategy for a long race, just 20 to 30 lap shootouts. Plus way too many crashes and intentional bump and spins. Team owners can't keep paying for wrecks caused by pissed off drivers.

This is one of the worst nascar videos out there. I couldn’t count the number of errors. Pathetic. The Walton and bowyer scandals were the same race. Whoever put this mess together shouldn’t be allowed to consider themselves a nascar fan.

It time for all NASCAR fans to boycott all NASCAR events for the next year or until NASCAR gets its shit together and brings racing back to what it once was before the started treating it like a stick & ball sport. I don’t even really watch it anymore it sucks and I’ve been a fan for 45 years it ridiculous what NASCAR has done to ruin this sport. Another problem is the media deals NASCAR makes it give the media more control over NASCAR so NASCAR does what ever they want.

Wild thing on Mayfield. He had a legal prescription for Adderall which NASCAR and their tester knew about. And the doctor that administered his drug test told Mayfield that it'll be ok. However his lifetime ban from NASCAR came out stating that he didn't test positive for Adderall, he was "tested positive" for methamphetamine and drove the race car while under the influence of it, which legal experts and doctors have argued as mentally and physically impossible to be done. And conspiracy theories have come forward that Ray Evernham conspired with NASCAR's drug testing to rig the results. This is likely due to Mayfield actually threatening to go public on Evernham's affair with Erin Crocker year prior and Evernham's shady practices in his racing team

you leave out some important information about how ruthless good old bill france was, turner was part of the original group that met and formed nascar along with france. the ban came because curtis turner and bruton smith were partners in Charlotte Motor Speedway, turner, smith, and flock tried to get the teamsters union involved to help the drivers get a fair share of the profits france was hoarding, turner and flock got banned and the speedway went bankrupt, i forget how france ended up with the track but you can bet it was dishonest. i think bruton smith was to hard to crack and ended up with a big piece of the pie. if my memory serves me right he and france were harsh rivals in the late 40s when this was happening, i remember someone else started a series that resembled nascar just not sure if it was smith, but good old bill france didn't go to war and the other guy did and the rest is history. yeah bill france was a real piece of work.

I think its pretty obvious. Fuel injection, the newest gen of cars, the cars are quieter, the rules have changed, its not really a race until the very end. All the good drivers are long since retired. Look at a talladega race from 1995 compared to 2023. Which one is more exciting?
