Never too many accordions in a polka band. I paid my way through college playing in a polka band in Chicago. Retired to North Carolina to be near grandkids but brought my accordion along. Most folks here never saw or heard accordion music and are surprised when I sit in with a blue grass band and have no trouble playing mountain music with them. At parties, I serve brats and amaze the locals again because they mostly eat pulled pork BBQ sandwiches and have never enjoyed a properly grilled brat.

Grew up in Chicago, played accordion in a polka band, went to college in Iowa, worked the next 30 years at the Kenosha News and lived in Twin Lakes, WI. Retired to North Carolina to be close to grandkids but sorely miss the Midwest. At parties, I amaze the locals with my accordion music, which they never heard before. Then I put some brats on the grill and let them know what good food is.
