441 Rap
DOG ORGY were a short-lived supergroup from 1970, originally consisting of Mikos Koxodopoulos (ex- Skum, ex- Myrkwood Cabin, Ex-servicemen's Club) and Dave Knight, former member of Free Earth, a band whose popularity in the Windsor area was exceeded only by the popularity of every other band in the Windsor area.
The name 'Dog Orgy' came from Dave's dad's comment on the strange noises coming from next door.
In 2023 the 2 founder members of 'DO' reconvened up a mountain in North Wales, with the addition of legendary axeman Grodno Radnell ( ex-this, ex-that, Exxon Valdez).
The sessions produced 4 recordings. One (Route 441) was so inoffensive that it was given an unconditional release, under th...

Below the Castle Wall

This is a film about the town centre of Windsor, rather than the Castle, and it was probably made in 1980. It examines how the council of the Royal Borough of New Windsor changed the character of the town through the demolition of residential and shopping streets in the late 1960s, looks at changes in the townscape up to 1980, and casts a critical eye over the conservation policies of the Royal...
Dave, I am just reading "Kicking around Windsor" - courtesy of a long standing, and nowadays sometimes stooping, old WBS pal Mike Peacock. My Dad drove for London Country and then London Transport for almost 40 years. I have many early childhood memories of him taking me to work and, courtesy of a kids Rover Ticket, I would often spend a full shift riding upstairs on the 441, 353 or 335. Love the raps and the book. Clearly Royal Free did its duty and nurtured your innate wit and sense of irony, Congrats!
I worked in Windsor for three years (early 90s) building Victoria Barracks. I loved the place, as it was so different from my sleepy hometown in Norfolk. I would drink in the Trooper and had many good times there. i made a lot of friends, who welcomed a young man far from home
Ruined Windsor, the demise was foot trafic only down peascod street, and the castle hill car ban,all downhill thereafter, what a shame, just a tourist dump now in 2022.Born in Windsor,Royal Free school pupil in the 70's .
I left Royal Free in 1973. Mr Evans was Head. Happy days!
@@eh6454 I was there till 1977 just before it was merged with PMRS .Digga Davis,Jock,Gardener,Basto,Hinchcliffe,Mahoney,Down,Harison,Mort,Car,Ben Gunner,to name a few. Finney was the head teacher when i was there.
well done chaps
Windsor has been ruined. Tbh, we very rarely go into town centre now, weeks go by and not one visit. I could even walk in, but dedworth tesco, m/head etc, and places that have some shops and amenities are the places where you see windsor ppl now. Good film tho.. i remember going with mum in international.
Excellent critique of a town destroyed by planners.
The film makes some interesting points. I think the criticism of Ward Royal remains totally valid. But, with hindsight, I don't believe the council can be blamed for the 'gentrification' of the town, which would've happened anyway. It was their job to manage it & in so doing they made some mistakes; demolishing an ancient coaching inn like the Falcon was a big one, if they wanted to protect a historic town. Interesting film, though. The music was all composed by one of its creators, which is impressive in itself.
ward royal looks like a mental hospital......bloody terrible looking
Sadly, this was considered appropriate architecture for this part of Windsor at the time. Although the flats are comfortable and well-appointed that cannot alter the fact that the whole development is an eyesore. It is compounded by the fact that the lost part of Oxford Road and its environs had real character and that still rankles even after fifty-five years.
Come and have a look at the new parts today. Dont think you will be impressed.
Brings back memories of my childhood
Great song Andy!
Wow!
Save us!
Brilliant guys, hits home that. Very true
Having lived in Windsor since 1982 before I moved to the USA in 2010 this is really interesting. Thanks for posting.
Proud to be a old Windsorian, this is a fantastic video, brings back amazing memories thanks to whoever
Great vid and track ...well done, good to see people putting out music that is saying something : ) xx
Thank you whoever you are. Windsor is where my Mother grew up along with her siblings, where my parents met for the first time and where I was educated.
A tour de force! Powerful effect from the lyrics, music & visual imagery - scary & tense.
Great images, powerful and scary, and only too true.
Powerful images and lyrics. Impressive!
Very Powerful!
Thanks sis!!
I like it.
Thanks Dan !
Love this video !!! Can't believe that only 500 people have seen it in over 18 months. I have shared it in the Windsor forum on FB. Lovely record of the past.
Thanks for your kind comment. Thanks too for publicising the video - the number of views has more than doubled in the past few days!
And I see that they are still watching it this afternoon. There will be more coming your way. Anyway, you are most welcome. A pleasure and a privilege to even have had the chance to share a video as wonderful as this. And I am not even a Windsorian !!! Live long, and prosper :)
A useful historical record with interesting opinions!
