What frequencies are for ametures in the uk ?
Chicago scanner
any idea of what these are worth?
@@jamesfear25 I sold that one in the video for £200
How can I enable this alert tone on the XTS-5000 when ending transmission?
Well that is a lovely bit of Retro Dad DIY, quite a rare Bremi brs 26 too, thanks for sharing.
@@gtretroworld no problem thanks for the nice words:)
Oh wonderful and then even on my favorite transceiver.
Nice. I have a XTS5000 in VHF. Lovely radios. I was looking for a Apex 7000 in the UK but no luck. All the best!
Wow, that one there is the same model I had in 1982 as my first CB radio. Built as tough as nails. Only suggestion I would say is replace that big loud speaker with the correct external specified speaker for CB radios if you don't mind me saying so. That speaker may have the same impedance of 8 ohms but it surely have a high wattage capacity that may and will over work the audio I.C. of that rig leading it to burn out. 73 and all the best sir.
Hey there , yeah that speaker is overkill , I won’t be using this radio as AM CB rigs are pretty much useless in the uk since we’re on FM , but when I saw this I just had to take it home
If the impedance is "off", all that will hapen is that the AF output stage will fail to "make" full output power. If an AF output stage is rediculously small compared to the load, the volume will just be low - It won't cause any damage to anything. Most radios are capable of pretty high voltage output into pretty low impedences, so I bet this is pretty loud. Also, with such a large driver (10 inch?), it'll struggle to play very high frequencies, so will have a very warm bassy sound to it, rather than the hissy little things usually fitted in the radio chassis. Where things get interesting is when an output stage is capable of driving high power, but is connected to a low power handling driver - the speaker may overheat and the voicecoil will eventually burn out.
Just got an ARB myself. Great looking turntable.
Genial!👍
TDL RTL 2 good ? For rock music? 2024?
I don’t have those anymore but whatever I played through them sounded great
@@rarity5865please tell me what you changed to and why? I now have the opportunity to buy these, but I can’t listen to them in advance. They also offer Rega Ela, also with a labyrinth. please help with information. Thank you.
Clearly obfuscated AES256. Listen to it backwards and record to a micro-SD. Insert the SD into an STP8000 series and you will have direct access to Airwave.
Pointless having two turntables next to each other.
Yes it is
I'm sure that there will be one or two DJ's that will disagree with that statement ;-)
@@tonygroenewoud-powell53 I dj with vinyl myself so I know too haha , I just set it up there temporarily to demonstrate it

Beautiful rig! Sounds nice! Love Tracy Chapman!
A great voice isn’t it :)
What is this radio used for ? Or what can it be used for ?
Great video! Any idea what the best way to clean the belts? Soap (dawn/ similar etc) and water?
i cleanred a couple with a damp microfiber cloth,. no soap etc on it
Mine will be here Monday
Una pregunta de casualidad los motorola pro 5350 esos tendran en sonido gallito cuando suelta el ptt?
I have one but 4pin microphone

I kind of miss the old radios of yesterday. Seems like they had better reception, at least on AM. Maybe because they were analog, rather than digital ?
The older higher end radios performed a lot better because they had to work, am was what you had, and if you made a radio that was deaf , no one would buy it, the quality of components also , how ever now radio is a secondary and people just don’t care , as long as it sort of works it will do
1:18 - For those working in sercurity that is the official sound of the start of a 12+ hour shift on a shitty static position on a hangover and a tiddlywink of sleep
How many grands did this set you back? 👍👍👍
About 1.9
@@rarity5865 does anyone in the UK actually use P25? I know that all of the police and other departments use Tetra.
@@ExploringWithJason there’s a few
I have a question if you can help me. I watch a series called Happy Valley ( UK ) and on two episodes there is what I call a distress signal ( something like pam pam prrrrrrrrttt on repeat ) . They used in the episodes when a police officer was in big trouble ( for example season 1 episode 4 near the end is the other ) . Do you know the brand or signal or whatever info as to start searching in google? Because , I haven't got any results so far...
Hi there, really sorry never seen that series and I don’t really know about other signaling equipment
@@rarity5865 Ok mate thanks!
Two tone signaling maybe?
@@user-sq8xt9gk7u I don't know I am still searching. But I saw on an episode, on a close up, that it may be a Motorola radio ( video resolution was mediocre). Police officer pushes a button on/near the top and the radio started automatically transmitting the signal to the rest of the police department. In the last episode also had a location establishment ( although that might be an addition from the movie and cannot be done in reality) and a voice said "Code 0" blah blah blah...and the distress signal transmission.
@@user-pd1vg7pd6b these type of systems do/did exist, where a tone sequence would trigger an alarme/radio/siren etc. Google " SIGNALING METHODS FOR RADIO SYSTEMS By: Mark Abrams " it probably is some type of Two tone or five tone signaling, you can find some sound simples online.
Hi managed to find one on eBay, do you have any batteries for them I could buy. Thanks
I only have the 3 that are on my radios , I can’t believe they still work
I got one to work. Thanks. ruclips.net/user/shortsLJOuXTn9szY?si=FV_rTGQlMBajR17Z
I'm sure the batteries in the belt drums seemed like a good idea at the time!!! Nice to see it working, kind of makes me want to look for one again.
Please do!! There were 2 on Ebay but sadly I bought both, and only got one to work , if you ever need any help on these, I'm no expert but can share my experiences :)
If you ever consider selling them, please let me know
Will do, currently I still use them to this day when at car boot sales with mates
Thanks
Hi again would you be interested in a swap I have 2 hytera pd460 pmr digital & analog programmed in?.
@@frankiefire3968 I’ve already got a load of hytera and Motorola DMR gear so I really don’t want anymore I’m afraid to say
Ok thanks
No capacitor
Funny this should pop up in my timeline as i bought a box of seven Cats Whisker CB’s a few weeks ago.
Was it from a radio rally by chance ?
@@rarity5865 It sure was, i spotted them in December last year at the Bishop auckland rally and he still had them at the Ripon rally. I will do a video on them someday.
@gtretroworld I think I've seen that lot before in a big cardboard box , wanted £150 the lot when I asked a while back
@@rarity5865 Yeah that’s the lot and they’re still in the same old box. 😂
@gtretroworld I mean, I think the price wasn't bad from a collectable stand , but for me as just an operator not needed
God, I want one so bad, i'll never have the money for it.
Hard to Believe it was High Tech for the time.
Oh yeah, looking back on it and seeing how it works, it's basically a modernised phonograph haha
Fascinating! Although in its current state, it barely sounds better than a fresh recording off an Edison phonograph which this also reminds me of mechanically. It has more treble but also warbles a lot more than the rigid cylinder. But maybe that's due to the age of the belt?
To ne honest, that's about how these sound, the speaker inside the mic is that of an old telephone type, the speed could be sorted with a belt or two, but as far as the sound quality for this current setup, that's it
Like this Device .73 from 13 Division
Thanks!
I had one when I was 17. I was desperate for money like most teenagers to buy soda and candy so I pawned it off at a small flea market for 30 dollars.
You do what ya gotta do! Il never get rid of mine tho
That's quite bold a choice of color for a dictation machine. It's so red! Looking at the gauge, I assume that each sheet holds ten minutes of audio? If so, that's not bad at all in terms of density. You could conceivably store hundreds of hours in a small cabinet.
I think it is about 10- 15 mins, yeah 1978 ish but still unusual for office equipment
It's Japanese 1950s. Better than a Crosley Cruiser.
doesnt take a lot to beat one of those !
I'd wear rubber gloves handling that. It could be nicotine glaze mixed with some other unsavoury carcinogen .
Why would you worry about carcinogens here?
@@gustavgnoettgen He did say, "is this nicotine?" Well cigarettes and their icky residues are most absolutely a carcinogen. Plus there's lead in the degrading pot metal parts. I always wear gloves when working on items like this. Channels like Shango066, he's always wearing gloves when working on old electronics items.
@@michaelturner4457 It's probably _better_ to wear gloves, but also borderline unnecessary.
@@gustavgnoettgen Did you wash your hands afterwards?
@@michaelturner4457 Don't you wash your hands after wearing gloves?
I have never seen metal degrade like that, how does that even happen?
it's called zinc pest or zinc rot. Which can afflict zinc-lead alloy pot metal die-cast items, and there is NO FIX once it starts.
rarity is my favorite pony
can i get the citronic mixer
Interesting recording. They lost your records even then. Lobotomy was the answer to everything, common as having a Tooth out. Live Love Lobotomy.
Replica?
no its a genuine motorola DP series DMR Radio
I always search ebay for older tapes. Cassettes, reels etc with original recordings on them from the 70s or earlier. I'm 57 now and miss the old analog gear. I have a box a 3 inch reels from a Vietnam guy recording back and forth between his parents from 1969 and the original Craig 212 tape recorder. The reels still have the mailing stamps on them. Fascinating to listen to.
I love stuff like that !
wow. what a sweet one
Thanks, yeah this is a really nice looking unit
LUX - When did wonderful Radio Luxembourg stop transmitting? I kinda miss the swooshing sound of them fading in and out.
Many years ago I believe , there's only one station I can get on these sort of radios now
Where can I buy the xts5000 or the other one
Well, Now we get to see what megaphones looked like with the technology at that time.
Ita cool to see that it's all metal and still in one piece and working, where as units of today being all plastic, probably would be falling apart in 50 years time
So how do you get this, and do i need and where to find?
