These DNA tests are only as good as how good the sampling was. When it comes to ethnic classification, I think it is not very accurate. For example there are plenty of Korean genetics in northern China which used to be called Manchuria. So you can see how it is easy to confuse Korean for Chinese DNA. ruclips.net/video/Isa5c1p6aC0/видео.html shows you how unreliable these tests are. Even identical twins were coming up different.

Interestingly I found out I am 92% Japanese and 8% Korean...like you in reverse. My Korean ancestry is dated between 1800 - 1880. I am guessing long ago a Korean person came to Japan and married in to a Japanese family. Like you I had no idea I was part Korean. Now I know why I like the Korean culture (except North Korea government's treatment of its people) and spicy foods.

Wegene only cares about China, not all of Asia. Anything outside of Chinese DNA should be taken with a grain of salt. I might go so far as to say anything not Han Chinese is iffy. The only reason for a non-Chinese to upload their raw data to Wegene is to predict haplogroups from a AncestryDNA autosomal test. Also, if you upload raw data from 23andMe and switch to the Chinese site (need a browser that translates) you get the health report data for free that 23andMe puts behind a paywall. The results are different because each company has a different database of samples your DNA is being compared to. It's all speculative outside of very broad categorizations. Meaning, it can tell me that I'm Broadly West African, but when you get into specific countries it's speculative and subject to change as they gather more samples. Understand that it is frequency based, meaning whatever country has the most occurrences of this or that particular alleles, that pattern of dna is labeled as belonging to that country. Even though that dna is present all over the continent, but at lower amounts. These tests are just for fun. The only objective results are the haplotypes.

I am half Korean from my mother side and half European-American from my father side, he's mainly Scottish and German descent with some English and some small pieces of Irish, French and Belgian. I've done the Ancestry DNA and my results are: 48% Korea (South Korea region) 29% Scotland 7% Germanic Europe 6% Sweden 5% Wales 3% Ireland 2% Northern Japan

I'm half Korean, half American, and I took a DNA test through Ancestry.com. On my mother's side I am 42% Korean and 8% Japanese. My mom was (she's now deceased) 100% Korean. Her mother was from Pyongyang area, and her father was from the south. We have no known Japanese in our family. Coincidentally, I've never seen a DNA test result for a Korean that didn't include some amount of Japanese, sometimes as high as 25%. Nor have I ever seen a Japanese DNA result that didn't include some Korean. There are 2 good reasons for this: 1). Koreans and Japanese cannot conclusively be distinguished from one another genetically, as they are the same stock. They're somewhat like Vulcans and Romulans. And 2). because there has always been two-way genetic flow between the 2 countries for thousands of years. So in short, All Koreans are part Japanese, and All Japanese are part Korean. They're actually the same people. So, there is really no such thing as 100% Korean or 100% Japanese. There's only 100% Korean/Japanese. (French and Germans are like this too, they cannot be distinguished, this is why they are almost invariably grouped together into a single category called simply "French/German"). Hope this helps, you're not alone. We're (i.e. Koreans) all part Japanese too! :)

Korean DNA marker is 02b. Koreans and Japanese share 99.9%. Not sure why your wife has so much DNA fascination??? is your wife Taiwan Chinese??????????????????????? I know for a fact Taiwan Chinese or Southern part of China has ( Racial or DNA) fascination. Most Koreans I know just accept it. We know who we are as Korean.
