With distributed generation it may be the situation where the grid becomes less complicated. In the past centralized generation required long distance highly controlled high voltage line current. With the development of utility scale battery storage, an independent battery node will become a part of a network of nodes. The only function of a grid will be to charge batteries. Long distance transmits will be replace with node to intelligent node charging.
Dear thank you for your insights on the evolving power generation and distribution landscape. Distributed generation has the potential to simplify grid operations, replacing the need for long distance, high voltage transmission lines. With utility scale battery storage, independent battery nodes can form an intelligent network. This new model shifts the grid's primary function to charging batteries, enhancing efficiency, reducing transmission losses, and improving resilience. This represents a significant step towards a sustainable, decentralized energy future.
Thank you for this presentation. Great effort is mad to ensure the quality of the current. With more battery storage and decentralized renewable energy being added to the grid. maybe a rethink is needed about power transmission. The only necessary place that AC current is needed is at the substation level. Why not convert the whole high voltage grid to DC?

@@PowerSystemOperationSlides The question I am trying to answer is a HVDC or MVDC connection directly into a battery farm. In other words you are charging the batteries. All of the AC work takes place on the local area side using inverters. HVDC conversion to HVAC is not a direct function so no expensive conversion. (?)

Thank You for this presentation. With increased decentralized renewable generation the transmission and storage of power challenges our legacy grid system. It may be the case that HVDC will be the key to a battery based substation system.
Thank you for this presentation. Over time I have become more interested in HVDC. Initially I thought that HVDC was only good for long distances, which is good. Then I learned that under ground HVDC for shorter distances are efficient. This may well solve a lot of problems. It is my feeling that large battery nodes will be connected by moderate distance underground HVDC.
still batteries incorporation in system is in initial stage, no idea these technologies will stop where & how.

Thank you for this presentation and I found it very interesting. I am not an electrical engineer nor do I deal with utility size systems. My perspective is from the demand side. Also, I have not watched all of your videos, so my comments are qualified. My interest is the decentralization of the power grid. As more electricity is being generated from diverse sources, power distribution becomes bidirectional. It is my belief that renewable sources that charge batteries will become the new normal. As such load following will take place at the micro-grid level. Ultimately the larger grids function will be to supplement the charge of the of distributed node batteries.
