The mill was, historically, functioned as a flour mill until 1958. In April 2023, the mill’s craft and gift shop, museum, and ice cream parlour closed after 28 years of operation.  In July 2024, plans were submitted to renovate the Grade II-listed Old Mill into a family home, café, shop, and museum.  As of November 2024, the mill is undergoing renovations and is not operational. However, a temporary coffee kiosk is available on-site, offering freshly brewed organic coffee, pastries, and ice cream to visitors.
