Eduardo de Rosamaria (Ed Stephenson)
Добавлен 22 янв 2011
Eduardo de Rosamaria (Ed Stephenson) Raleigh, NC based Canadian guitarist and Alanna recording artist, Ed (Stefanyshyn) Stephenson’s virtuosity extends throughout the Classical Spanish, Flamenco, and Flamenco Fusion genres. He has performed throughout North America as a soloist, a member of the North Carolina Guitar Quartet and the Paco Band. His numerous return engagements with the North Carolina Symphony, Raleigh Symphony, North Carolina Theater, North Carolina Bach Festival and concert series at universities and colleges in the southeast, have established him as one of the region’s most sought after performers. The Classical Voice of North Carolina praised his Esencia album saying, “It has all the characteristics and virtuosity of traditional flamenco guitar but falls outside - or perhaps expands upon - the limited traditional flamenco harmonies and structure. You find influences such as bossa nova or Latin, rock, jazz, swing and salsa, and others.”

I bought this on vinyl, on CD, now seeing it on YT decades later... OLE!
Yes !!!I have fun memories of when I first heard it.. me and some other guitarist were sitting around saying this is just not possible.... we are not as good as Paco and Al but it's fun to keep trying :)
Thanks for posting---Great guitar work!! Please bring flamenco dance and your guitar back to the Fuquay-Varina Arts Center!
Ed, good to see you performing again (and with sound!)
lol ....thank you very much for letting me know about the other one:) This performance was recorded with a couple of phones. I should have hired a videographer,,, but then I probably would have made more mistakes ;)
Bravo!
Gracias:)
Thanks so much for sharing this!
Thank you!
Is that lady playing the chair?
lol...it does look like that doesn't it. That is a box called a cajon.. it is a percussion instrument. It originated in Peru but then it migrated to Spain and Flamenco and now even many bands of all genres use them.
@@pacocanes That's cool, the angle is of course a bad one haha. Still an interesting instrument and performance. Thanx for the reply too. Do you have any plans for performances in the near future? I spent quite a while looking through the annals. Thanx again. Try Midnight Mass for heavy metal \m/
@@smallfaucetYes, I play 200 times a year. Here is my calendar: edwardstephenson.com/calendar/ This is a show at a nice venue that is coming up on January 28, 2023 at the Fuquay-Varina Arts Center in Fuquay-Varina, NC: app.arts-people.com/index.php?ticketing=fvac
@@pacocanes Okay I see now I am communicating with YOU and not the DJ that curates the show on WHUP haha. Okay now I realize! So YOU'RE the guitar player? Some very nice skills you possess Sir! Very well done!!
@@smallfaucet thank you very much I really appreciate that. I have been very blessed.I am Canadian and I came to the United States to study with the best teacher I could find. I was very lucky!!
omg Ed you have a mustache now!
well technically it's a goatee
@@pacocanes Glad you know how to use technology now :P This is Kurt, one of your students from 2008, I'm the Chinese guy you sometimes ask to type email for, haha. I was just showing your videos to my wife telling her about how you were scratching your leg, while ensuring me that you were just scratching your leg and not your butt, not sure if you remember that :D I missed you!
@@rotoristworkshop6530 yes I remember you... and whether you believe it or not I have thought of you every once in awhile for some reason. I'm not sure, maybe it was because I know you helped me load in for at least one gig or something. I do not remember the leg thing but if that is as bad as it got then you got through the lessons in good shape :) where are you living these days?
@@pacocanes I moved to Texas ever since I graduated from college. I was relocated here by the company. At the beginning I attempted to take a classical guitar class from a local college here. I was telling the teacher "I wanted to learn Flamenco", he (old spanish guy) said "oh Flamenco is like nothing, we'll learn regular classical guitar first". And then I made some videos of me playing the guitar (ruclips.net/video/dzu-B7QEOQk/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/Ywe8p1mgke4/видео.html ), showed them to my wife (whom I just started knowing via online dating site) to woo her lol. Now we have 2 kids, and I haven't touched guitar for like 10 years :)
@@rotoristworkshop6530 that is funny. It seems like the guitar playing work on your wife. I am very glad to hear you have a nice family. It usually happens that way but once the kids get older you'll probably pick it up again
Maravillosa!
Gracias!
Bravo!
Thank you!
I still remember that show... lots of fun, great sound at the LAC
Victor. Thank you very much and it's great to hear from you. I just happened to be on RUclips. I have not been up to Canada for quite a while because of covid-19. Hopefully next time I'm there we can hang out again.
@@pacocanes Look very much forward to seeing you and hearing you again. It was the poppies that gave it away that you were in Canada
So beautiful
Thank you Debbie!
I love CGrace….Hope to see you there sometime!
I look forward to the time when I can play there again!
Some of this reminds me of Led Zeppelin I - Babe I'm Gonna Leave you
Fabio, you are correct!
@@pacocanes Would like to see you play the song called Mood for a Day by Yes, on their Fragile Album. Would seem to fit you. Anyway coming to see you in Fuquay Varina, NC this October.
@@fabiogross9497 Excellent..please come see us after the show and say hi. Mood for a Day is a great tune...would be fun to play!
Heard this on JAZZ FM's Cafe Latino hosted by Laura Fernandez for the first time yesterday---Amazing! She announced you're going to be appearing at the Glen Erin Inn in Mississauga sometime in August----any set tour dates yet?
Hi John. I am really glad you enjoyed Rumba Flamenca :) Played it tonight actually in North Carolina. Laura had sent me a text that you had contacted her about it. I really appreciate it and will pass it along to the other performers. Laura has a great show and is an amazing musician. If she is not booked she will join me at the Glenerin on Aug 1st and or 8th when I am there.I have twisted her arm to sing some Flamenco pieces with me. Hope you can make it. It is a small place so call ahead. Got to get some sleep believe it or not...take care This is probably the recording you heard..we shot this video when we did it. ruclips.net/video/-qf79y8cHiE/видео.html
