Hi Major thank for comment . Much apricated the answer to your question is at 10:18 sec. Bcoz we are talking about x direction thus have to mark velocity in y direction as zero while writing the equation in x direction . Hope that helps

Because if it was more than zero, the object would be moving. A zero net force means the object is remaining in place.

It does .. any thing which has a mass will have gravity .. I think u r confused between gravity and atmosphere.. no atmosphere on moons surface
