@@Pmmapping too short to use tapered line. Tapered line is good from 11’ to 20’ for 10’ to 13’

@@joncochran6494 It's not really named. One of the big tenkara companies used to sell it for like $50, but I found it on temu for $20. It is just a Chinese made rubberized net.

You're welcome! So far I have used 7 and 8 foot lines with around 2 feet of tippet. The 8 foot was pushing it when landing fish while wading over knee deep. I have used the rod a ton since the review and love it even more now.

I have heard stories of them being caught pretty close to where the trail meets the creek.

Indeed. Just this past weekend I caught a few way upstream.

@@Velakowitz I do it all. Sometimes I'll go down where the trail for the waterfall is other times I'll fish right by the wma check station.

I have only caught stocked browns in Holly. Emery did produce a wild 12 inch brown on one visit

It is definitely my most used rod currently, but my tanuki headwaters is starting to take it's place

I was using the Shimotsuke tenkara gen 240. An excellent little rod you can find on eBay and occasionally Amazon.

All of the rod reviews so far have been at Holly Creek in North Georgia.

Exactly! It was obvious once I had been shown, but I didn't even think about it before that. I would take the time to put away one line and take out another. It really makes a huge difference in keeping your rhythm.

You basically just tie a slip knot at a different point in the level line. It's a pretty simple concept that I never thought of. If you can't find a tutorial, I can make one.

@@doinstuffwithzane I'd love to see a tutorial! I've found a couple of blogs online describing it but no one that actually shows it in a video! It would be killer for tight streams!

I caught the big rainbow in Sarah's. The last creek was walnut fork. In hindsight it was poor luck.

It was a Hyundai iirc. It was coned correctly and fully seated, just really bent.

Honestly, I'm not surprised. It is all over my yard and I don't pay enough attention to it. I often feel it's wrath after working in the yard.

Jones Creek and Tuckaluge creek have both produced browns for me. Jones is predominantly brown trout, but they are very easily spooked

If your first attempt doesn't get the desired effect then be more upset and aggressive. You're killing more than my lack of safety equipment.

While I'm sure you wear all required PPE during every activity you undertake, some of us understand and fully accept the risk we are taking. I had to edit after further review. I was using a red and black sakasa kebari. I usually swap between a foam Caddis and a black sakasa kebari on this particular water. I think it just happened to be the fly that was on the line

I haven't been able to get out much lately and when I do I don't go far. That may be able to happen since Holly Creek is only about 45 minutes from me. A lot of people don't particularly care for my naming of creeks, but I really only go to ones that are in my father's books. I have yet to venture outside of the published area.

I completely disagree. This information has been out there for decades. It is all recorded in books that are available for anyone to read. I can guarantee more people have read about this creek than have watched this video and I have still not seen another person fishing there. In fact the last person that saw me there couldn't understand why I would want to catch 4 inch fish. I understand that people are concerned, but calling others irresponsible on the internet simply doesn't make a difference. If you really are concerned about these fish there are other ways to help that don't involve negativity.

Its color is a little lacking and it does look battle worn, but all of its fins were in good shape. I'm not sure how it got there. I get that everyone is worried about native Georgia fish getting abused, but my goal is information. Not all people will agree with what info I put out there and I'm okay with that. I'm not going to censor myself because of it either. These fish are disappearing from our streams regardless of the actions we take and I personally want people to be able to enjoy them.

@@FishGeorgia That is nice to know! I thought it looked kind of pale, but all of its fins were in good condition. I had no idea that brook trout were being stocked in that area. Now if we could just get a few cutthroats...

I'm guessing you had some knowledge about this since you have property in the area. I don't believe my videos will put the population in any danger though. If I got more views then maybe....
