Even more astounding is that neither the WHO nor any government agencies or medical facilities were prepared to even look at installing these BlueSky machines in public spaces, hospitals, airports, hospitals etc! On highest mode...and it´s Hepa 14. The Filter sucks the air in at its bottom and releases it vertically towards the ceiling. And my daughter (7) would sit on one side of the filter, and me on the other - at least most of the time. So I can´t infect her(that´s my big worry). @BlueSky-Global, Dr. Michael Seitz hi, can HEPA filter provide better ventilation from spread of covid 19 airborne? tq

    • @thethatchhouse
      @thethatchhouse 3 года назад

      Yes…. Absolutely! The key to effective filtration in public spaces is 3 folder: 1. High air exchange rate (12-18 times per hour at least, 2. Air flow direction should be predominantly vertical down flow, so blowing into the space from above, and sucking out at floor level 3. HEPA air filtration to capture aerosols. This is EXACTLY how air exchange works on commercial aircraft. Building owners/companies are hesitant to implement such systems (my company has full retrofit instal designs) because they don’t want the hassle or the cost of an install. But it is so doable and is the only thing that really makes public spaces safe. More than 2 BILLION people have taken flight since the beginning of the pandemic…. And super spreader events on planes are virtually unheard of. Public spaces should invest for everyone’s future

    Great illustration! However you will not be able to prove it since in HEPA integrity testing we are only looking for 0.3 micron. The criteria would be anything below 0.01% of the up stream challenge of the filter. If you are injection 25,000,000 then the allowable particulate amount would be close 2500 ppm at 0.3 micron. The retention rate would be 99.9900. So anything smaller than 0.3 micron has the opportunity to pass through. Filters are rated for 0.3 micron throughout the industry and the iso criteria for testing is the same. We do not have data to back up anything smaller

    This is actually false, given that the smaller the particle, the higher the removal efficiency for a HEPA filter. This all due in part through the diffusion filtration mechanism. Donaldson Aerospace wrote a good infographic to show the filtration mechanisms at work inside a HEPA filter. “The fact that a HEPA filter’s removal efficiency increases as particle size decreases below 0.3 microns is counter intuitive. However, this is a proven and accepted fact in the filtration sciences.” There is also a section addressing microbes. I would encourage those watching the video to check it out. I also recommend a video that covers some of the filtration mechanisms and also goes over how Brownian motion is the reason as to why small particles are trapped. It also mentions that the diffusion mechanism greatly increases filtration efficiency as particle size reduces. ruclips.net/video/AuVbcvPcjAw/видео.html donaldsonaerospace-defense.com/library/files/documents/pdfs/042665.pdf

      Marcelo, to keep it really simple - HEPA filters are test as “filters” with actual particles - so the performance of a filter is not a “theoretical” concept, but the result of tests. So without going into scientific speculation about the various mechanisms at play that make a filter work - the results are simply - “a % of 0.3um fish get though, and larger fish are caught”. Yes, there is an inverted Bell - but the point of the video is to focus on the nature of the aerosols and their capture - and take away the emphasis on examining individual particles. Take a look at normal distribution of particles breathed out, filter efficiencies, and the grading scale. So to all the folk who want to just understand about whether HEPA filters does a good job for Coronavirus capture in machines (not masks), you can assured that most occurrences of aerosols will be captured by HEPA, and keep you safe....

      There is huge hesitation in everyone regarding the best way forward - and with ductless standalone machine all over the place, the sense is “problem solved”. NO... what it most crucial is downflow, while all these other systems produce cross flow... buying a machine for $1000 or $2000 with HEPA is NOT the answer... you need a ducted system with downflow like in planes. Huge investment yes, but it WORKS. And it is so simple to understand why...
