There is nothing like ring, ring is for wedding, they are called stirrups or links

Columns transfer the loading from the beams to the foundation i.e. columns take the load from the beam and transfer to the foundation then the foundation transfer and spread the same loading to the bearing stratum ( soil or rock) which ever has the safe bearing capacity
