Damn, that was epic.

Just did rim to rim to rim with the Apple Watch Ultra 1 at 88% battery capacity (12% degradation) and it went smoothly. Put it and my phone on the charger from a battery bank at the north rim while I had a quick lunch and changed socks and that was all it needed to make it through the hike, even though my group was very slow at a 23 hour total pace. I did not need to use the reduced heart rate and location settings which was very nice.

For what I do, I very much enjoy the Apple Watch Ultra. does what I want on trail and works for a variety of settings including backpacking, endurance running, etc. As long as you don’t mine the weight of the charging cord for some activities (in which case I would already be bringing an external battery for my phone) then battery is less of an issue and more of a slight annoyance. I am very satisfied with the app selection and find it useful to have so many different good options to choose from.

This is a masterclass on how all running edits should be. Pure substance.

Honestly already one of the best trail videos - sure trail shorts - of the year. Stunning

The WURL would be nothing without the canyon climb in the beginning, and peaks strung together by a U shaped ridge line, the passes and saddles, the elevation and undulation, the ground (sometimes dirt sometimes boulders), the summit cones, the sparse vegetation like sage and nettle, the terminus via notch, and the descent down a glacier canyon ending at the lower bells moraine.

Ordered my firsst two Soar items this summer. One of them disintegrated after 4 or 5 runs. which is when I read that a niche player like them gives you a 28 day return window. After that you are at the mercy of them if they exchange it or not. Which they offered, to be fair. But my answer to basically depend on their assessment of the situation means: Back to basic brands with ok service and at least a standard warranty window. I never understand small brands who provide *less* service than the big brands. The items were ok but not worth the high price. Sorry to have to say good bye to Soar.

Is it waterproof?

I just took mine out for the first time tonight. It was about 12 degrees C and I put in a moderately paced 10km run wearing only a running T-shirt beneath. The inside was absolutely soaked from my sweat, so much so that it was dripping from the sleeves. I’ve never had a proper running rain jacket, but if this is as you say the most breathable rain fabric on the market, I can’t imagine what others are like. I should note that it didn’t end up raining while I was on my run, so there is no confusing rain from sweat. Maybe this jacket is for a cooler temperature? I would really appreciate some input. This was by no means an inexpensive purchase. I should add that the quality, feel and styling are superb. It’s a very well assembled and thought out piece of kit-except for the breathability which I feel is critical
