That would make sense in this situation for sure. I've only seen this a handful of times and those all had a component with access to pressurized oil that was wet. This one not so much but either way its still wild to see. Luckily this is a rare issue.

Happens, have had to cut the heads off a couple times to get the control arms off. And usually at that point a BFH will get the bolt out.

People do things all the time for "Weird" reasons, lol. I like the feel of the knobs personally and its something different. I have converted my rear doors to manual crank windows and I've also removed the sunroof in favor or a solid panel.

This is the Baum Tools thrust rod bushing hydraulic press that I modified for use on these bushings and then I added an air over hydraulic pump to control the press.

The little roadster found a new home and the new owners are continuing bringing it back to life. They've already swapped out the wheels, replaced the top and changed out a whole lot of other smaller things. But its back on the road and they are loving it.

Yes TL, downshift is not very good, it will try to lock up the tires 100%. Blipping the throttle does help. Maybe with some tuning it would be better but its not very well documented to so I've just lived with it.

@@hillperformancebimmers4026 thanks a lot for your reply, really nice, about tcu that's what I fear... Blip seems to be work well with aftermarket ecu like maxxecu but price is 😅 I hope it will be usable on track while waiting for a new ecu :(

@@MaximumB00ST, I do not want to go standalone for this platform so it is what it is right now. Hopefully CANTCU will become operational with the MSS54 DME and if so I will make the switch (already have a CANTCU in fact). In the meantime its acceptable, just not ideal.

Unfortunately its tough to say without seeing it but I would make sure the cooling system is properly filled and bled as the first step.

It’s an E46 touring with an S54 (and cluster) swap

Yes, this is a standalone transmission control unit made by Turbo Lamik. They have the ability to send the gear to the instrument cluster via CAN. BUT the E46 cluster only has the function for displaying A, N, S, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 so it cannot show gear 7 & 8. Right now they have both programmed to show the letter "A," I asked them to change gear 8 to the letter "S," we'll see if they do.

@@Adrian-qo5vb In the TunerPro CAN settings I think yours is set to 31 or 32 and needs to be 33 for the gear display to work AND IIRC my cluster is coded as SMG. So I would start by coding your cluster to SMG and then flipped the CAN settings and see what happens.

Its controlled by a Turbo Lamik TCU

It uses a stock BMW torque converter and flexplate.

Car with driver weights about 3300lbs. I need to rescale it though.
