sic transit gloria.....
I hate that in the musical, Mordred is show as a weak coward. I wish a version where when Pellinore goes to strike him down he stands brave and pride with open arms and says "to strike unarmed men? that's what round table knights do?"
Mordred looks really gleeful when he hands her the chocolate. He's got what he wanted. She just looks sort of bored.
I like the other people doing the movements but they are slightly taking the attention away from Morgan and Mordred. I'd maybe have set some of the other people a little bit farther back. Otherwise good. 😍😊😚
Her voice really is just right for this. 💕💞♥️ Good job everyone. ^____^
Beautiful. 💕💞♥️💜💙🧡 💕💞♥️💜💙🧡
The costuming is really nice in this scene. I really like how almost every lady is dressed in a different color. 😍 The green dresses seem somehow particularly appropriate for the time of year, but all the dresses are good. ^___^ I love how they all sound joyful and you can hear Guinevere above them sounding the most joyful of all. ^____^ Want to take a guess this is probably her favorite holiday? ^_____^
I know what my people are thinking tonight As home through the shadows they wander Everyone smiling in secret delight They stare at the castle and ponder Whenever the wind blows this way You can almost hear everyone say I wonder what the king is doing tonight? What merriment is the king pursuing tonight? The candles at the court, they never burned as bright I wonder what the king is upto tonight? How goes the final hour as he sees his bridal bower Being regally and legally prepared? Well, I'll tell you what the king is doing tonight He's scared, he's scared You mean that a king who fought a dragon Hacked him in two and fixed his wagon Goes to be wed in terror and distress? Yes A warrior who's so calm in battle Even his armor doesn't rattle Faces a woman petrified with fright? Right You mean that appalling clamoring That sounds like a blacksmith hammering Is merely the banging of his royal knees? Please You wonder what the king is wishing tonight? He's wishing he were in Scotland fishing tonight What occupies his time while waiting for the bride? He's searching high and low for some place to hide And oh, the expectation, the sublime anticipation He must feel about the wedding night to come Well, I'll tell you what the king is feeling tonight He's numb, he shakes, he quails, he quakes And that's what the king is doing tonight
Looks like Anne Hathaway. I like these two. They’re adorable.
Having played Mordred in ‘Camelot’ many years ago, I honestly don’t like this interpretation of the role at all. The character has some terrifically sardonic quips, which require crystal clear delivery. Unfortunately, this Mordred has extremely poor diction, which is my main criticism of his portrayal. The young performer should take a leaf out of King Arthur’s book, as here is a performer who speaks eloquently.
I'm ok with Mordred being gay. I've even seen him portrayed as a cross-dresser. My problem is with the affected, nasal voice. It doesn't work for Mordred.
This lady is Lovely. I always loved this beautiful song from Camelot. It breaks your heart when ever it is sung. The lyrics are absolutely gorgeous. Queen Gueneve
I love the version with Morgan
it makes me remember the movie "Jackie" with the unique and wonderful queen Natalie Portman !
Nasty creatures those buffer screens are.
was this done at a high school?
Tommy, I can't tell you how many times in the last two+ years that I have listened to this and still, today, once again, I got goose bumps. And the way you use your hands ... lovely.
The original show had an incredibly long running time. The second act had 2 specific scenes: one followed Arthur into the forest and the other followed Mordred's attempts to rouse the knights to battle. To give Richard Burton more stage time, Mordred's scene was cut in the Broadway production with the loss of "Fie On Goodness" as a result. The show was still running long--and "Take Me To The Fair" got the axe. Now you can license either version.
I think they must've cut a few other things too because the original run time was supposed to be about four hours. Versions today that use the cut songs (and scenes) that I know about, they still don't run four hours.
What I read was the Morgan scene got cut because Alan Jay Lerner thought it was too facetious. The version where Mordred (without his aunt's help) persuades Arthur to stay in the forest, I think that scene is actually the more powerful of the two *and* lends more power and drama to the scenes after it besides, but the Morgan scene is cute and isn't seen often enough, so I like seeing it to see what it looks like being actually acted instead of just read about. I suppose that means I like both versions. ^___^
@@julistarling8382 From what I understand, the Morgan Le Fey scene was in for all of the original Broadway run and touring companies as well as the original London production of 1964 though Lerner was never satisfied with it. It was only afterwards that he wrote the revised version with the new scene for Arthur and Mordred which many people feel is an improvement. At any rate, this scene has been very rarely performed in the past 55 years or so. I'm kind of 'on team Morgan' since this (my favorite musical) is a rare musical tragedy, it should be performed with a certain lightness of touch to balance things out (certainly not like the movie, which though I enjoyed it, is very heavy-handed and extremely slow-moving). Plus, this adds to the fairy-tale aspect.
yeh!!
forgotten great number
Kate Ewings has a wonderful voice for this role - full, melodic - but not too heavy. Her choreography is a lot of fun also! It's great to hear the orchestral music before the song starts.
Totally agree. Started to read your post just as she started singing. ^___^ So, the timing was perfect. ^___^
@AdamKenlee I hope your performance was fun and that you gave the role what it deserves! :-D
@unclejuniorsoprano What would it matter if Mordred were gay?... He's often portrayed as a slimy type that is fairly weak, yet arrogant... can easily come off as "gay".
I don't know what it is about Hensen but his "Arthur" touches me so much more than that of either Burton or Harris. I just can't get enough of watching him.
If at all possible, please give us more Tom Hensen. He's marvelous.
That's how it's done! Incredible.
He's good!
The horn section has problems pitching.
An excellent amateur performance for a high school theater group . This Mordred, however, appears to be very gay. A noble effort that falls way short of Roddy McDowell.
Thanks for uploading this charming performance.
This guy is good!
GREAT Job! thats one of my favorite parts of that play...done wonderfully! thanks for sharing.
